cappyboy
For quite a long time, I've been wanting something with a TEW type of feel that would allow you to write soaps and try to keep them afloat. A soap simulator if you will. But I was thinking is there a minimum percentage of matches we can't cross or could a soap mod just be cooked up to run on the TEW engine? I know soaps through TEW would essentially be like televised stage plays. But it would be neat little twist assuming we can make products completely devoid of matches. skiesofryan
you would have to set the promotions to have very little matches (maybe a 10% match ratio if possible). Only have the people in matches be those who you want to "fight". I'd always what would happen if Steve Burton (he plays Jason Morgan on GH) and Thorsten Kaye (he plays Zach Slater on AMC) got into a fight. Midnightnick
ban
Ban? Why ban? This is actually a pretty good idea if you ask me. I did add a New Promotion in my Cornellverse game that was 20% Match Ratio, and I imagined it as a Real World style show/promotion.

You are essentially running TV shows with an obligatory weekly fight scene or two. Actually...if the AI does its job well, this would be a neat little way to simulate things like Champagne Lover's sopa opera in Mexico.

TV coverage. Storyline and angle management. Please give us all the juicy details. Or as many as you can manage to remember. This could be useful as a guideline. My TV Coverage was on The POP! Network and was for 60 Minutes, and I was at... Cult to maintain the show. For Storyline/Angle Management, I would open with Angles describing what was going on, then a Fight would usually break out. After that, more angles and a fight to end the show sometimes. I never really added any custom angles for it, but looking back I should've.

Or did you have them at all? How about custom storylines? Did you have any or just use unchained? Any titles? Seems like they'd be a bit out of place. Although if you did things in a reality style a la Survivor or Big Brother something like Immunity or Head of Household might be feasible. And you did say you went for a Real World kind of feel. Plus, Sports Entertainment IS Soap Opera, just with Sweaty Men instead of Sweaty Women. Plus, there's nothing that sets you apart from any other member of the forum. Just treat everyone with the same respect Dustin.

For the Storylines, I used Unchained when I did use them. Titles were used in one "Season" when I trimmed my roster down in a Survivor-esque elimination. I really wish that save file didn't get corrupted so I can give the exacts.
cappyboy
ban because males that suggest soap operas in a wrestling forum are monsters, not human beings like you and me
Okay. This is one of the most bizarre statements I've ever heard try to pass itself off as logic. I don't NEED to defend myself to you or anyone on this subject. But I will share how I come to this for everyone else's benefit. All the better for them to know who they are dealing with after all. I started wrestling long before I did the soaps. My first wrestling show were syndication WWWF (now WWE) shows in the late seventies. My first run with the soaps in 1989 when Kayla suffered temporary deafness in a knife attack on Days of our Lives. I was taking sign langauge in high school at the time and my mom figured the reinforcement of the Days storyline would help me in my own signing studies. I've stuck with them since then because A: they are great places to see many sexy ladies at one time. And at times see them get laid on screen for my amusement. Granted the love scenes in soaps aren't as explicit as pornos. But the TV standards have gotten a lot tamer and you see a lot considering it's broadcast on the major networks. B: Soaps are great places to see future stars when. Do IMDB searches on your big names in Hollywood. You'll find many started off on daytime. C: A lot of my family meals devolve into military discussions I am hopelessly confused by. Being able to talk about soap storylines past and present with my mom and sister helps me to save my sanity. My dad and bro-in-law don't even seem to notice they are killing me when they start talking about CO's and XO's and E-5's and all that alphabet soup. Being conversant in the tunnels under the DiMera mansion has saved me on many occasions from wearing the condiments that are supposed to be on my hamburger. If that makes me subhuman in your eyes, so be it. But all I can say is "don't knock it until you try it."

Every thing wrapped up smoothly in 3 months, occasionally 6.
