AfRoMaN36
No, it wasnt the traditional, cap and gown walk with the crying parents and the hugging of friends and the "lets see if I can get that girls number before I go." Their are no pictures for me to show anybody. Nor will their be a pizza party after this. It was just me, a project written completly in spanish and my iPod playing "My Way" by Seether over and over again. My situation was completly unique in that I did all the senior things but come graduation time, I would be at home sleeping. I missed graduation by exacly 1.44 credits. About a week before the end of the year, I was told that because I was skipped ahead in spanish class 2 terms because.... I'm hispanic (and not black as many of you think) that I can do 2 projects for Spanish that will give me a credit each and be enough to attend college during the fall. Naturally, they didnt tell me about this earlier nor tell me what I had to do until the weekend before graduation because well...... I dont know why, exacly. But I did what they told me to do and on the way over their I couldnt help but pay close attention to that Seether songs lyrics.... "Nobodies gunna stand in my way.... Give it up son, I'm doing this my way. Nobodies gunna stand in my way.... Give it up son, I'm doing this my way." Ofcourse, because the school was in a black neighborhood, I put it away as soon as I got off the trian. Say what you want about me for doing this, but I WAS robbed before by a gang of black kids for that very iPod. In the end, I didnt even get my diploma..... I got a letter. It said I had met the graduation requirements. I was just glad I overcame my lousy freshman year, my poor math, damn near getting killed by my ex girlfriend and the jokes my stupid friends made about me being some sort of a drop out that will never graduate... only to graduate... in 4 years. And I write this here... because well.... you guys are like my internet home like it or not. (Though some of you have significantly shortened my life span.) Thank you. Not good, I guess Im lucky living where I do..... dont think theres ever hardly any trouble around here at all.
Well, it really depends on where you live. The place where I was headed (Coney Island) is considered to be a "ghetto" therefore none too great a place to have an iPod out for everyone to take. Where I was robbed though (Sunset Park) Really isnt a ghetto by most accounts. Ofcourse, I live in between 5th and 6th avenue which are the safest areas, while 4th avenue (where I was robbed) and below are gang territory for a group called "Bloods." I normally dont go there, but the train station was acrross the street and one of them saw me take out my wallet for my Metro Card. (bus and train pass)
*Gives Afro-Man a semi-gay manhug but nothing to which he could detect the gayness of* Seriously though... Congrats bro... irabowman
Man I know how it is to get scr***D over come senior year. I was suppose to graduate back in 1982. The school I went to freshmen - Jounior years they gave you 1 credit for the whole year per class. Too had to do AR. History you know the requirements. Come Senior year you know you'r pretty well allowed to take courses of your choice usally. Well my senior year we move to MO. and here you get 1 credit for every semester. Now I am way behind and I have to take MO courses so I don't get to choose any course I want. I am also taking 5 home courses per semester and put in a Advance typing class. Heck I did not even know the keyboard, so instructor told me to saty after scool every day for a hour and he will pass me end of the year. Came 1 week from time to graduate and he told me he was going to flunk me as I was not where the other students were., So I had to end up with a GED I hated highschool with all the home corurses there was no dates or nothing .. Not even prom lol... So I am hapy you did graduate even though not in the way most get to do it.

Its simply unfathomable that this country doesnt have a uniform education system. And its ruins the lives quite simply way too many people. I sympathize with you, deff. djthefunkchris
Congratulations!! I don't care how you did it, you done it! As far as hiding valuable's in an area that is notorious for crime, well... That's just smart. You don't go "Blinging" where you know it's unsafe. You don't wear Blue when you cross the street, and you don't lie down in the middle of the street if you don't want to be run over. Common scense. As for saying "It's a black school", well, That doesn't mean it's a criminal school, and so I would prefer saying notoriously high crime area (or similar), rather then saying... I got off the bus and alot of Black people were there, so I hid my valuable's.... LOL. I feel the same way about "Spanish" people! Just messin', Congratulations again! AfRoMaN36
Thanks to the both of you! I probably should've used the word "ghetto" but the place turly is a very black community. I must've been the only hispanic person there. I certainly dont mean to sound racist or anything lol. Though I personally cannot stand the "ghetto crowd" (regardless of race) who takes the crap 50 cent raps seriously. Esspecially the punks who tried to rob me. Hope they enjoy rotting in jail. And I just want to be able to prove the stereotypes for hispanic people wrong. I want to really be something. This was my first step.
