It's All About The Glory (C-Verse)

OOC: Played about two years, slowly building up from Small. Jeremy Stone has been the boss this whole time and I've only done a few big storylines which I'll probably refer back to, as the promotion focused on wrestling more. However I'll change that for the diary a bit. And as the title says, it's a C-Verse Diary, and all credit goes the Adam Ryland for the characters and the designers for the pictures. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GLORY
With the world of wrestling in general decline apart from in Japan and NOTBPW, it is a nice and rare occurrence for me to be able to write about a promotion that is soaring to greatness. In fact, some of the best matches of 2007 and 2008 have been in a promotion which has become a cult phenomenon. Glory Wrestling has been running for two years now and the Great Lakes based promotion has focused on Modern and Technical Wrestling, having hired extremely talented wrestlers and leaving the glitz and glamour to promotions that cannot match their wrestling product. However, despite being an internet success, Glory Wrestling has always had a cloud of mystery hanging over it. Its owner is not known to the public and neither is its head booker, as there are numerous people who have appeared on Glory Wrestling Shows that could be the owner or head booker. People like Farrah Hesketh and Yodo Nakane. However rumors are circulating that 2008, the cloud of mystery will be blown away as Glory Wrestling plan to become a North American nationally known promotion. And with talents such as Wolf Hawkins, Scout, Art Reed and Johnny Bloodstone on the roster, it might not take too long.
I dropped the magazine to my desk and ran my hands over the tiny strands of hair on my head. Most of that article was correct, and I was the mysterious head booker of this mysterious promotion that had toured the United States and Canada. My name is actually AJ Carter, but any fan of Glory Wrestling would know me as Jimmy. Doesn’t sound like much of a name I know, but that was the point. And I was the one responsible for the rise of Glory Wrestling. But the truth is, I was in the dark just as much as most of the world. The only thing I knew was that I had the support of a few big names in wrestling, but I didn’t know who I was working for. Not exactly the easiest booking job available. If you know who you’re working for, you know what to do to please them. But two years with no sign of my boss, made me think I was at least doing what he required of me. Keeping to Technical Wrestling was my main goal and I had hired wrestlers that could do this. And so had whoever my boss was. In fact, what I had been able to gather from my bosses actions were pretty good. He had got us working deals with North of The Border, PGHW, CZCW and 5SSW. And sure, he had gotten us into a war with USPW which I had no idea about, but USPW weren’t much to worry about these days. But now everything was about to change. The boss wanted to meet me. And I got my first real impression of my boss when he was exactly on time. Not a minute late or early as I heard a simple three knocks on the door. The man that had turned me from a NOTBPW potential star into a head booker of perhaps the fastest rising promotion in the world! Behind the door, was a man I had waited two years to meet! Come In! The door opened slowly as from behind the door appeared a man that I had been booking on and off for the last two years. Someone I consider to be the boss off and perhaps the most obvious choice for who my boss would have been, if I just thought about it. Standing at the door way to my office was the man that put on wrestling clinics with Sensational Dragon, JD Morgan, Jacob Jett and new kid Greg Gauge. Standing at the door way was one of the men who trained me. It was the Canadian Wrestling Machine, Jeremy Stone. Alright Kid! I was speechless; something a lot of people would say could never happen. Jeremy Stone and I went back to when I was 17 and just a wide eyed rookie. I travelled all the way up to Canada, got a flat right next to the wrestling school that supplied North of The Border Pro Wrestling, and bugged Duane Stone endlessly every time I saw him anywhere near the training facility. Duane Stone kept telling me I didn’t have what it took. I hated him back then. Now I can’t really blame him though. I was just a skinny kid. But then I caught Victoria Stone, and something about me caught her eye. She gave me a place in the school based on my charisma. I got the impression she wasn’t expecting any miracles but I was glad to have got in. By the time my first class came along, Duane Stone had done his stint as trainer and it was Jeremy’s turn. And despite being a skinny kid, Jeremy took me under his wing, saying I had the ability to tell a story in the ring and a decent grasp of the basics and that he could turn me into a technical genius. And he did! Fortunately I had a short stint under Dan Stone Jnr. as well, so all though I’d never say it to Jeremy, I was probably now more rounded a wrestler, but clearly not in his league technically. And now it turns out that I lucked out big time, as not only did I have a Canadian Legend as a mentor but he had also given me the book at his promotion. Explains how I got people like Johnny Bloodstone, Davis Wayne Newton, Jacob Jett and numerous Japanese stars in my promotion. For a cult promotion, talent wise we had a national roster. So you’re my boss eh? I regained my composure as Jeremy walked in and I stood up and shook his hand. Well, we all know Dan is going to get NOTBPW when my father gives it up and Victoria knows what she’s doing with the book. So I thought I’d set out on my own, see what we could build. I made sure to give him a firm handshake. Jeremy read a lot from a handshake. Naturally the first time I met him, my handshake was pretty limp and weak. But I was no longer that skinny 17 year old. So, why did you keep yourself hidden for so long? Jeremy sat down as I did the same. I offered him a drink, knowing he’d reject but you should always offer. Well, if I’d started this promotion with me at the forefront from the beginning, the world would have expected big things and the focus would be on me too much. But now we got some genuine stars, I figure I can come out of hiding. I raised an eyebrow slightly. We have big stars in the Tri-State area, and some big Canadian Stars. But I wouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. We are still a cult phenom. As the States go, we still got a bit of work to do. Oh, I know. But you’ve seen how popular some of the guys have got in New York and Canada. They can be big elsewhere. We just need to get a TV deal for the States and Canada at the same time. That was one of the problems I had been having. I’ve had TV deals for certain states in America and all of Canada but at different times. Right now we were showing on Roger Sportsnet in Canada but had a PPV deal in the States. We had fixed this by holding two shows on one night every week but we needed a TV Deal that covered both countries. Well we got to wait till February for that. If you’d come into my office last month, we might have been able to do something about that. No rush kid, we’re moving pretty fast as it is anyway. So what did you want to meet me for? Jeremy smiled and left a pause hanging in the air. It’s time to make some headlines!

Glory Wrestling was founded in January 2006, with the owner and head booker kept as a well guarded secret. It started as a Regional Promotion thanks to heavy advertising from NOTBPW in Canada for the promotion. It soon became clear that Glory Wrestling was backed by NOTBPW, as some NOTBPW stars wrestled in Glory Wrestling rings. Thanks to NOTBPW’s connections in Japan, PGHW and BHOTWG stars also ventured over to Glory Wrestling every now and again, with some stars deciding to try and conquer America through the promotion whilst wrestling in Japan at the same time. Glory Wrestling soon found themselves in position for TV and PPV deals, but never found full coverage for Canada and America until 2009, when The Pop Network decided to take them on after a revamp of the wrestling product , which saw them tone down slightly the Pure and Realistic approach that they had been employing. On the smaller Glory Wrestling Roster he got ample opportunity to show off his skills and formed the stable X Effect with fellow young stars. Soon NOTBPW were utilizing the young talent as well. Within two years of his debut he became Two Time All Action Champion, and became Tag Team Champions and Ed Henson Memorial Cup winner with Tim Westybrook and is now one of the most over men in Canada and one of Glory Wrestling and NYCW’s top wrestlers. That was until Eisaku Hoshino appeared at the first Glory Wrestling show, and in one of the memoriable Glory Wrestling moments cut a shoot interview and then proclaimed he was a GW star. All though he is yet to win GW gold, his first year in GW did see him win the 20th spot on Pro Wrestling Hits top 100 wrestlers. Many have said that Jeremy is the finest technical wrestler of all time, and boasting almost flawless technique, he does have a strong case for that honour. Perhaps his only weakness is that by striving so hard for technical perfection, he never achieved the all-round greatness that his younger brother Dan Jr did, and so lacks versatility. Was the mastermind behind Glory Wrestling and has been pulling out great matches after great matches with new younger talent. On top of his NOTBPW achievements, he was GW Heavyweight Champion. Since then, there’s been no stopping Jacob Jett, as he is now one of the most over men in Canada. Making his pro debut in 2003, at the age of 20, it took him less than a year of show-stealing performances on the independent circuit to get people interested in him. Since then, he has become a regular both with United States Pro Wrestling and Canadian Charisma Championship Combat, making him a fast rising star on both sides of the border. He was however stolen by Glory Wrestling, the first blow in a USPW vs. GW war and his main success in GW has been a GW Television Title reign. He was originally trained by the Stone family in Canada, and then spent his early career toiling on the American independent scene, highlighted by a series of matches with Acid that really got him noticed. He came to DAVE in 2004, and has swiftly gained a reputation for being able to have great matches with anybody. Naturally he was one of Jeremy’s first targets and found himself on the GW Roster from the beginning. Rose to quick fame, but it has died down since, got his first taste of gold in GW with the Heavyweight Title and put on the match of 2007 with Eisaku Hoshino. Over the years he has wrestled all around the world, and is probably most famous for his stints in CGC and CZCW (where he held the Coastal Zone Championship in 2003). Recently he has been making a living in DAVE and Glory Wrestling who stole him from USPW. For awhile in 2008 Mario was on a wave of momentum and the steal was big news as Mario came to GW and trashed the USPW World Title. Of course, the title he had on him was a replica, as he had to vacate the title before leaving. His TCW career began well, forming a fairly impressive tag team with Stevie Grayson, but it has been since going solo (following Grayson's release) that he has really shone, and the latter half of 2006 saw a near-meteoric rise in popularity for the blue chipper from Florida. For some strange reason, TCW released him in 2007 and GW was quick to snap him up. While his performances have been good, he has been outshone by other youngsters and has fallen down the card. Still has two GW Heavyweight Reigns to his name though. Alignment: Face Age: 23 Finishers: Full Moon Rising (Running Enzuigiri Kick)

Breaking into the sport in the US in 1999, and then calling himself "Slick Willy", he was quickly tipped for success based upon his natural charisma and athleticism. However, for some reason, he never got the break expected. In 2003 he toured with PGHW for the first time, and showed such potential that the company took the unusual step of offering him a full time position on the roster. He accepted and improved as a worker before being brought over near the end of 2007 for a stint with Glory Wrestling, and has since stayed after PGHW released him. In 2006 he was cherry-picked by Jeff Nova's revitalised 21CW to be one of its new major stars, and so he left MOSC behind. As 2007 begins, he is on the brink of the main event scene, helped enormously by being the regular tag partner of the legendary Nobuatsu Tatsuko. Strong, technically skilled, and with the tenacity of a pit bull, Machine is slowly building a fearsome reputation as a top class fighter. He originally broke into the sport with Golden Canvas Grappling, making a name for himself with his performances in the tag team ranks alongside Rhino Umaga, but as of 2006 he has also been working for the INSPIRE promotion, working under his real name. However like many Japanese workers not under written contracts with PGHW, Glory Wrestling came knocking and signed Samoan Machine who now works for GW exclusively. At the age of only 21 he became one of the youngest BHOTWG Junior champions of all time, having stormed into the top contender's spot with some incredible performances that had seen him become perhaps the best young performer in the entire of Japanese wrestling. He lost the title to Marihito Masuko at the end of 2006, and their blossoming rivalry is being talked about by some as the second coming of Elemental vs Optimus. However in late 2007, Glory Wrestling shocked the world as somehow it managed to grab the sensational youngster to a contract at GW where he has put on great matches with the likes of Darryl Devine and Jeremy Stone. There are many insiders who believe that Deeley could go on to become a big star, and use his amateur skills to help bring realistic wrestling back to the mainstream, which he was on his way to doing when he joined Glory Wrestling before he sustained a Neck Nerve Damage Injury that put him out for a year. Professionally she is an actress, and works in the wrestling industry just to make some extra money. Those acting skills come in handy when doing angles, but a lack of charisma probably holds her back from becoming a really valuable manager. This was especially ironic, as he was one of the first Japanese wrestlers to popularise the Brainbuster Suplex back in the 1980s. He is best remembered for his work during the early years of PGHW, but he also had a lot of success with GCG before that. In his youth, while still a lightweight, he also worked the Californian circuit in America, wrestling as Fujiyama The Samurai. I hope it hadn’t been too long because Jeremy Stone had joined me at my request a few minutes after I had checked my clock. I just couldn’t understand it, and I felt as if my work had basically been thrown away for no good reason. So far, Jeremy had been a great boss, even if he only introduced himself to me after two years of running his promotion for him. But this was the first time I felt like I really had to question this man. I had expected some releases. We always looked at our rosters every three months and released anyone we didn’t see improving. And usually Jeremy would do his list, I would do mine and then the ones we agreed on were given their leave. This time Jeremy had acted without me, and I felt offended by it all. Sure, I’d agreed with most of the decisions, but one angered me. Nurse Darla Knight, Paige Croft, Miss Information and others were clearly surplus to requirements for our Women’s division. But the last firing was obsurd. “Why?” I looked up, and felt like Jeremy must have been looking at me the whole time I had been staring at my main eventers list. He had seemed content to wait for my questions, but he probably already knew what it would be about. That was proven by him not needing me to elaborate on my simplistic question. “We are on the brink of being a national promotion with national exposure and therefore national exposure to the press. And he has a history of drinking problems.” And I now suddenly wanted to know the past of every wrestler on my roster. I couldn’t afford to push people who might get fired because of past problems. A mistake I would have to learn from. “A history being an important point! As far was we know, he has got that under control. And you want to congratulate him on making a good career for himself finally, by firing him for mistakes he has made in the past. Surely throwing someone into the unemployment line because he used to have a drinking problem isn’t exactly good for our image.” Jeremy Stone raised an eyebrow as if he didn’t agree, shaking his head as I moved the papers that had alerted me to all of this away from myself. “You’re giving the public credit for a lot more understanding than they have. If the press report it, the public are going to react. If SWF bring it up, the public will react. We don’t need a bad image. The amount of times SWF have fallen in popularity because someone’s taken drugs or got drunk and beaten up a member of the public is testament to why we don’t need him on our roster. We have plenty of talent to make up for his loss.” I let out a long and drawn out breath of submission. “Well you’re going to tell him he’s fired. Cause I’m definitely not going to!” And that is how I lost my future choice for GW Warrior’s Heart Champion, JD Morgan!
