While C Jerry Taylor is a nice player, the whole group will need to improve its overall form and technique to be successful. The Tigers also run a 4-2-5 defense and rely on OLB Wilbur Price. Their LBs will try and lead what looks to be a poor defense this season. They dont have a great deal of talent and will probably struggle in most weeks. Prediction: 6-5 Season Review: 2006 was a very disappointing season for the Memphis Tigers. The offense was able to consistently put up nice numbers but the defense was horrible all year long. The offense did not put up as many points as I would like to have seen but they started with bad field position in most games. The Tigers had the second best scoring offense in the Sun Belt, but their defense allowed the second most points in the conference. This years 4-7 season leaves room for improvement, so expect to see a new defensive coach next season. Season 02 (2007): Memphis Tigers (7-4, 4-4) Season Preview: The board thinks a top 3 finish in the Sun Belt is possible. Focus on that and delivering a good performance against UAB. The Tigers run a Vertical offense and rely on QB Frank Barnes. The OL has some weak spots and struggles at times. OT Rolando Perez is their best option and most of the successful plays rely on his protection. The Tigers also run a 3-4 defense and rely on DE Joseph Mobley. They rely on their DBs to cover a long time because of a poor pass rush and will struggle against the run. The DBs have some talent, but not enough to make much of a difference. The players improved very well during offseason training this season. The offense should be vastly improved while the defensive scheme is solid, we are still lacking playmakers on that side of the ball. We had a nice recruiting class, even though it was not highly rated. Many of the freshman will step into starting positions or add much depth to the defensive side of the ball. For the second year in a row the Tigers are picked to finish third in the Sun Belt. Last year the defense was way to weak for that to be a possibility. This year the offense should be able to carry the team most games as long as the defense can improve just a little bit. Prediction: 6-5 Season Review: The Tigers got off to a 4-1 start before injuries started to affect the team. Memphis finished in a 4 way tie for third place in the Sun Belt. The offense showed a nice improvement in moving the ball this year but did not increase there point production enough to win games when it mattered. The defense really stepped up this season allowing only 17.3 points per game which was the 15th best in the nation this year. This season 12th seeded West Virgina made it to the Final Four by defeating defending National Champions, the Wisconsin Badgers 30-25 in the first round and then they avenged their inseason loss to Miami 29-17 before losing to USC 41-10. The offseason also saw nice improvement as the overall player ratings went from 6 average players to 10 and 18 below average players to 36. Things are starting to come around; hopefully within the next couple seasons Memphis will compete for a Sun Belt Champions and possible a place in the playoffs.
finally you're back...can't wait to see this one
thanks, after college was out for the summer I got started on the USF one but never really got into, then I got a new laptop so it wasnt a huge loss for me to see that one go. I have wanted to do a league with a playoff structure for a while but was having problems with how I wanted to preserve the bowl game setup. So this is dynasty is the mutt child of that line of thinking.

Their defensive line is in a tough spot as it will be counted on all season. While this unit certainly gives a great effort, it simply lacks the talent to pose much of a threat. The offense will be lead by redshirt Junior quarterback Tim Herrera. Herrera started one game in the past two season going 25/44, 247 yards and 2 tds. Hopefully he will be able to build on a solid offseason and get the ball to the best group of receivers in the Sun Belt. The defense had a great season last year, but where still lacking in talent. This year the talent level is up, but possible still not enough. If the defense can put together a solid year look for the Tigers to compete for a conference championship. Prediction: 7-4 Season Review: 2008 saw the Memphis Tigers capture thier first Sun Belt championship and playoff birth in Coach Simmons third season. Once in the playoffs it was quick to see the Tigers still have a long ways to go before they are able compete with the national powerhouse teams. Memphis lost in the first round to the National Champion Michigan Wolverines 13-55. The offense still is not scoring and moving the ball as well was they should, but Coach Hobbs had the defense playing very solid all year. For the second year in a row a Tiger quaterback was named Sun Belt player of the year as redshirt junior Tim Herrera walked alway with the honor this season. Also for the second year in a row the 12th seed in the playoffs made it to the final four, but unlike West Virginia last year Florida State was able to make it to the National Championship game where they lost to third seed Michigan. Season 04 (2009): Memphis Tigers (12-1, 8-0) Season Preview: The board thinks a top 3 finish in the Sun Belt is possible. Focus on that ans delevering a good preformance against UAB. The Tigers run a Run N Gun offense and rely on RB Ronald Cornett. The OL is a capable unit. While OT Robert Campbell is a nice player, the whole group will need to improve its overall form and technique to be successful. The Tigers also run a 3-4 defense and rely on FS Andrew Lacy. Their DBs makeup the teams top unit and one that will be under a lot of pressure this season. They have talent to carry the defense for stretches, but not the entire season. Memphis is returning the Sun Belt offensive player of the year and transfer RB Ronald Cornett is ready to help move the ball this season. The Tigers wide outs are the best in the Sun Belt this season, but will need to increase their productivity to help defend the Sun Belt championship. Prediction: 8-3 Season Review: The Tigers had an incredible season going 12-1 and being the first mid-major team to advance to the Elite 8. Coach Simons won National Coach of the Year honors while capturing back to back Sun Belt Championships. Memphis was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt, but susprised everyone by going undefeated in the regular season and then they bear Air Force in the first round of the playoffs before losing to the eventual National Champion Oklahoma Sooners. With all of the success Coach Simons has had over the previous seasons it will be interesting to see which schools offer jobs this postseason. Season 05 (2010): Michigan Wolverines (12-2, 7-1) In a rush to get to recruiting after the season I forgot to run my yearly reports, so 2010 is lacking alot of the stats the other years have. Season Preview: Michigan enters the season ranked #3 in the Media and #4 in the Coaches Poll.
