2001: A Sports-Entertainment Odyssey (WWF)

The time, 2001... The WWF was at the top of the game, poised to buy out it's the only promotion to best them in the last ten years. Out of nowhere, the deal collapsed. Nobody knows why, and nobody knows how it happened so fast, but the deal was gone. WCW soon started airing vignettes on the website, stating that they "were baaaack." With a vengeance too, it would seem. The WWE were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Their main eventers could draw anywhere in the business, but the lower card was severely lacking. The tag team scene was as strong as ever, featuring teams such as The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, Edge and Christian, Kaientai, and The APA. Three titles (WWF World Heavyweight, WWF Intercontinental, and the WWF World Tag Team) were locked up on Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H, respectively. Problem was, this angle was dependent entirely on the acquisition of, and integration of, World Championship Wrestling. Ever since the deal fell through, the WWF front office has been in a disarray. No words yet on who is actually running WCW, but with Nitro starting this week we will be sure to keep an eye on the ratings to see if there will be another Monday Night War. This is the future... This is 2001: A Sports-Entertainment Odyssey.
