It's Coming Down (Cornellverse)

New Year's Eve 2006 "It's coming down, it's coming down..." He sat in the parked car, fingertips flying across the keyboard of a laptop pressed against the steering wheel. "It's raining outside... you've nowhere to hide..." He had circumvented the MAC filters, the WPA key, and now was looking for the intended target. The big score. If their computer network was structured anything like the other companies', it wouldn't take long. "She's asking you why you think it's funny..." And there it was. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Contracts. Akima Brave.doc... shift + del. Ana Garcia.doc... shift + del. Andre Jones.doc... shift + del. Angry Gilmore.doc... shift + del, shift + del, shift + del. Save the champions and the owners, he deleted everything. "It's coming down, it's coming down..." But why? -------------------------------------------------------- January 1st, 2007 Geoff Clark makes headlines by opening Universal Pro Wrestling in lieu of the inevitable worldwide draft. -------------------------------------------------------- January 2nd, 2007 Previously unknown independent wrestler Thomas Lithos takes responsibility for the deletion of contracts, citing monetary incentive from Geoff Clark as his reason; Lithos also announces that he will use this incentive to open his own wrestling promotion. Geoff Clark has declined to comment. -------------------------------------------------------- With the promotions of the world left with a handful of workers, a list of broken dreams and a filing cabinet full of derailed plans... ...it's coming down.
It has been announced that Thomas Lithos' new company, Wrestling Nation: Unlimited (WN:U), has officially opened. The promotion is said to focus mainly on in-ring talent and action with a pinch of cult-oriented entertainment thrown in for flavor. According to Lithos, WN:U has made many contract offers but has elected to keep details under wraps until any for-sure signings have been made. More news as it comes.
At the moment, WN:U is waiting for workers to notify us of their intentions to negotiate.

I like the backstory (or first installments of it if that's the case). Nice and punchy and whilst I'm sometimes a little sceptical of dynasties that involve en mass free agents (although I'm far from a C-Verse purist alot of the time), if handled well you could have a great piece of work here. Apart from WN:U, I'll be keen to see how the rest of the world shapes up following the shake up.

Monday, Week 3, January 2007 The first two weeks passed quickly as the wrestling world reorganized itself. Contract negotiations, workers choosing their allegiances. Our roster has been completed. Unfortunately for WN:U, Lithos' scandalous actions were not enough to draw the attention he was hoping for. The company is currently Regional, but has name value nationwide. As a result of this minor gaffe, many of those who we contacted for negotiations refused to show up at all. The actions also drew legal fire from many sources, and some of the initial money received from Geoff Clark has been stashed away for this purpose; we are left with $500,000. We are confident, however, that the workers we were able to obtain will more than make up for these start-up shortcomings. Barry Kingman came away winning MAW's Rip Chord Invitational Challenge, defeating The Mean Machine, Steven Parker and Des Davids along the way. The SWF Shooting Star title has been made inactive and replaced with the SWF Arena Championship. The TCW All Action title has been made inactive, replaced with the TCW Intercontinental Championship which is now held by Acid. What's interesting to note is TCW's hiring patterns, seeking more technically solid workers to match with Cornell's new, more traditional product style. The most shocking developments so far would probably be Jerry Eisen's switch to TCW, Edd Stone's move to RIPW and Jason Azaria's move to SWF. Speaking of the SWF; the promotion is looking stronger than ever, managing to sign many popular workers who were unavailable before.
WN:U plans to begin their weekly show, WN:U Saturday Night, this week.
