Spanish Superfly Leaves MPWF, Will Form MPC - by Hijo del Sangre Tijuana Tijuana Lucha just found out through the MPWF and Comisión De Lucha Nacional website that beloved worker Spanish Superfly has left the promotion due to "undisclosed reasons". In a letter to his fanclub, readable at Superfly Superfan Club he discloses the situations behind his leaving:
Dear Superfans, You all may have already seen the MPWF website, but I'll fill you in on the situation between MPWF and myself. I've been with the promotion since 2005, following the Bosquejo Nacional 2005 (National Draft 2005)--which is regulated by the Comisión (Comisión De Lucha Nacional)--and have been in a rut with them since. Many in the company believed I deserved better than what MPWF was putting before me, better oppuntunities to entertain the fans with exciting matches, a chance to work with the young, talented wrestlers coming in...instead, I've been in comedy matches, wrestling against wrestlers who don't even really want to be in the ring. I presented this to Dom (Domino) and was simply brushed aside. From our days in OLLIE together, he often saw me as a thorn in his side so it was no surprise that he gave me title shots just to shut me up--not when I had earned them. Well, as of October 20, 2007 (today) 12:01 AM, I am no longer a wrestler for MPWF. I had two months remaining which explains my absence from MPWF shows in August and September. Since the Comisión considers me a problem, I guarantee you I will show them a problem. As you following my career know, I was trained by the late Sangre Tijuana and started my career in Tijuana. Well, like my maestro and his son Tijuana Blondie, I will be making Tijuana my homebase as I announce the formation Mayan Pro Combat! Our first show will be in January 2008. Thank you to all who have supported me over my career and I hope you continue your support with Mayan Pro Combat! Sincerely, Spanish Superfly
There was a little discussion over the name as the Mayans were not a Northern Mexican culture. Superfly logged into the chat and explained that he and others in the Tijuana wrestling community felt out of place compared to OLLIE, MPWF, and SOTBPW--promotions under the Comisión De Lucha Nacional who follow their rules and have wrestlers in the Comisión's union--and that it's really like placing the Mayans in Northern Mexico or Southern California...out of place. As a loyal member of the Superfly Superfan Club (I'm President of the Southern California Chapter) I for one am looking forward to MPC and you can be sure I'll be following it here on Tijuana Lucha!

NEWS DUMP: Spanish Superfly Changes Name and Announces 1/5 Show! - by Hijo del Sangre Tijuana On the Superfly Superfan Club website, Spanish Superfly sent an email to website owner Luis "Lulu" Ortega that he would be changing his name to "Mayan Superfly" and that he would be defending MPC against outside wrestlers who seek to do Tijuana and the promotion harm. He then mentioned that the shows will be held every Saturday with Bar Juarez being their homebase. He also said that the first show would be two months from now on 1/5. He also sent the card that will be expected for the show. My sources--well, source...well, cousin...hold me that posters have already been plaster by Superfly and Blondie students. The show is as follows.
MAYAN PRO COMBAT 5 January 2008 from Bar Juarez MAIN EVENT Mayan Superfly vs. Hugo Garrido Tijuana Blondie, El Alborotador Seguro y El Sucio vs. Velocidad, Amo del Gato y Extranjero Loco Inca Jr. vs. Hijo del Memphisto Tijuana Red vs. Miss Carla Latin Lion Jr. vs. Surfeador Californiano Crazy Miguel vs. Cristobal Pardo
The show is made up mostly of Mayan Superfly and a worker named Tijuana Blondie (son of Sangre Tijuana) students and could be pretty decent. Be sure to log in for predictions over on the Predictions Board.

Fed up with the situation he was in while with MPWF, he abruptly left the promotion in August 2007 and sat out his contract. In December 2007, he announced Mayan Pro Combat, a new promotion that will push younger workers and is targeting MPWF. He even changed his name to Mayan Superfly and is currently reinventing himself, reverting to his Tijuana roots where he debuted. [PICTURE ADDED LATER] Hugo Garrido Height/Weight: 6'0, 235lbs. D.O.B: 5 August, 1980 Style: Brawler Signature Moves -Destructo Kick: Powerful running front dropkick to a standing opponent. -DDT -Dragon Sleeper "The Destruction Machine" Hugo Garrido is a firey brawler from Mexico, best known for being one half of the "Los Destructores" tag team, alongside Grue Slugg. Originally a fairly bland team, they have developed into a decent duo over their years together. A short, stocky, powerful competitor, Hugo is a solid competitor who could probably carve out a good singles career if he wished. He had a setback toward the end of 2006 though, when both he and his partner were released by SOTBPW. Inca Jr. Height/Weight: 5'8, 190lbs. He is the son of the original Inca, who was a reasonably popular OLLIE worker during the 1970s and 1980s. Inca Jr is probably best known for his spell with MPWF, which included a Campeón de Lucha title win, but he left them in November 2006, reportedly after throwing a temper tantrum upon being told he was losing the belt. Tijuana Blondie Height/Weight: 5'10, 200lbs. Born Jaime Espenoza, Jr., Tijuana Blondie hails from Nuevo Laredo and is the son of sub-cult luchador Sangre Tijuana. Tijuana Blondie--named because of his dyed blonde hair and his pretty boy looks--debuted at 16 and is a rock solid all-rounder. He has been a thorn in the Lucha Commission's side since 1995, breaking rules and holding shows in Tijuana and Boy's Town, which are considered outlaw territories to the Comision. Hijo del Memphisto Height/Weight: 5'9, 190lbs. The high flier in the demonic mask is actually the nephew of the original Memphisto (the son of his younger brother, who never became a wrestler), and shares a lot of the same traits - while he is not a great worker, he has great charisma and a natural ability to suck the audience into his act, and so looks set to have a long and lucrative career in Mexico. Velocidad Height/Weight: 5'6, 175lbs. Although he is still inexperienced, inconsistent, and lacking finesse, what cannot be denied is that he is one of the quickest wrestlers you will ever seen, moving around the ring with a dizzying pace and energy. Making his pro debut in September 2006, big things are expected from him. Amo del Gato Height/Weight: 5'6, 175lbs. A lifelong fan of the sport, he graduated from trainee to full professional wrestler in June 2004 and went on to spend the next two and a half years honing his craft on the independent circuit. As 2007 begins, the talented high flier is looking to gain employment with one of the big three promotions. Some veterans have already singled him out as one to watch over the next few years. El Sucio Height/Weight: 5'9, 189lbs. Presenting himself as a wild zombie-like creature, El Sucio's M.O. is mixing traditional lucha moves with animalistic attacks, especially biting and choking, and it is that style that makes him such an effective heel. Although he still needs work to polish up his ring performances, there are many within the industry who have said that they feel El Sucio could become a big name in the sport. Extranjero Loco Height/Weight: 5'7, 175lbs. His name means "****y troublemaker", which sums up his disrepectful character perfectly. He got his first big break when MPWF picked him up during the 2005 draft, but unfortunately for him, he was unable to capitalise on it. This was due to a series of minor injuries which kept him from competing regularly, and so killed any momentum he happened to build up.
