MVP Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I've decided to start one final game on TEW 07. Currently I'm playing TCW (my diary); NOTBPW, CZCW and DAVE, the latter two I'm planning to end when I reach Cult with CZCW and National with DAVE I've played WLW; UCR; RoF, CGC, and, my most sucessful one, SWF I've chosen BHOTWG to be my last new game, and, since I'm a bit noob with big Japanese promotions, I'd appreciate if the Burning Hammer playing community would give me some advice on how to run and fully enjoy playing with Japan's #1.
Shmoe Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Burning Hammer were the first promotion I used and I got through a year. My advice is, for the time you have them, use Hooded Kudo, Elemental II and Optimus to their maximum ability. And use the Junior division to your advantage, they can really put on some good matches right off the bat.
hrdcoresidebrns Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 What advice I would be able to give to you would be that remember that if you're playing a freestyle game, BHOTWG's prestige level is such that you pretty much can hand-pick your talent. Breaking their working agreement with WLW will allow you to sign Hell Monkey, and they're also the only promotion in Japan that can really sign Samoan Machine, which can add a big boost to your midcard ranks. The big thing that I would say to remember, especially early on, is that their main event scene is heavy with wrestlers that lack stamina, so keep the main event matches short when you can to try and keep the match ratings up. Masuno and Taira in particular tend to run out of gas quickly, as they both have fairly terrible stamina ratings. The only other bit of advice I can give you is to not forget about the Rebellion. If you can move them into the main event, their performance skills will really be a benefit in improving the young main eventers, as really only Horri and Nakasawa are good enough to carry matches on their own. And of course, if you really need help, the best place to go for ideas would be TigerKinney's BHOTWG dynasty. You don't have to copy it, but it might give you some ideas. (That plug is free, Senor Tigre.)
MVP Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 Thanks for the advice so far. Samoan Machine was actually my first sign, as the AI BHOTWG always seems to hire him. And I'll try to find so new main eventers that aren't exhausted after 10 minutes, The Rebellion does seem to be talented as heck. When I break the Rebellion, my tag team division could become even more stagnant,I look at the teams section and I only see tons of makeshift teams, any advices on who should I hire for the tag divisions?
SadisticBlessings Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Well, some sound advice has already been given, but I'll expound upon it a little bit... Don't pay any attention to what the Auto-Push says; Yasunobu Masuno, Yasuhiko Taira, and Eiji Hamacho are not main eventers, and barring a miraculous stamina boost from Masuno none of them ever will be. Their superior popularity compared to some of the more talented workers is meaningless in Japan, so plan on jobbing them relentlessly until you can siphon some of that overness onto more deserving individuals. Koshiro Ino, Miyamae, and Shimedzu should be the immediate beneficiaries of this shift. Oh, and I think this might go without saying, but job Everest as often as possible. Keep in mind that momentum is highly important in Japan, and don't hesitate to use repetitive matchups and exploit good chemistry if possible. Remember, you're not on TV here, you're putting on touring shows - storylines take a back seat to good wrestling. I'm of the opinion that aside from long-standing rivalries, partnerships, etc., the storytelling belongs in the ring in a puroresu company. Put the title on Kudo early, and let him run with it. He may be aging, but he's so far beyond any of your other main eventers that keeping the belt off of him makes absolutely no sense. Every single one of your workers will improve simply by being in the same ring with this guy. Obviously, Nakasawa and Horri should be his main opponents early on; both are talented, but their performance skills simply aren't in that B+ to A* range that the brutal puro products demand. Give the Super Juniors the attention TNA's X-Division should merit, because outside of the main event and upper midcard your heavyweights are (to put it mildly) God-awful. Elemental II and Optimus are still decent, and should be used for popularity and momentum-building purposes before they retire, with the focus being on Sensational Dragon in particular. Any combination of these guys with The Awesome Kiyaru, Super Joshuya, Marihito Masuko, and Golden Scorpion will deliver the goods. This division is the fun part of running BHOTWG, so just enjoy it! I have to disagree with whoever said it's best to break your working agreement with WLW, though. They've bailed me out several times with talent trades, and can be very useful if you've got a gap in your card. Bringing in Emerald Angel, Dark EAGLE, The Great Hisato, Hell Monkey and The Incredibly KOYAMA among others has produced good ratings for me and been a big help in building momentum. I figure BHOTWG already has plenty of enemies, so why add another promotion to the list?
When I break the Rebellion, my tag team division could become even more stagnant,I look at the teams section and I only see tons of makeshift teams, any advices on who should I hire for the tag divisions?
No need to break the Rebellion up; they're an awesome team and should definitely keep competing as such from time to time. Just focus more in singles wrestling, and only have them team up occasionally. Samoan Machine was a good signing. See if you can pick up Rhino Umaga as well, because the Samoan Destruction Inc. is one of the best teams in Japan at the moment. In terms of other signings, plunder GCG for all it's worth... Shingen Miyazaki and Jack Marlowe are the two you really want. Marlowe & Watson is a decent team, as would be Marlowe & Nathan Coleman if you're dead-set on bolstering the tag ranks. From INSPIRE, Roku Sotomura, Wael Hossam, Hitomaru Suzuki and Tsurayuki Kamachi are all begging to be stolen. Sotomura and Hossam are both excellent grapplers, and I could see them making a formidable duo. On the other side of the spectrum, Kamachi may need some work in Hinote before he debuts... but he's damn solid for a 20 year old. From the indy scene, you should definitely track down SUKI, Hidekazu, and Masutaru Kataoka. SUKI and Hidekazu have always performed well as a team for me, so I'd suggest trying to pair them up. Also - and I can't believe I forgot to mention this while I was writing at first - I think it goes without saying that you should immediately begin courting Eisaku Hoshino, the only immediate main eventer who's currently unemployed in Japan. Hmm... that should be enough to give you a few ideas, at any rate. Whether you follow it or not, hope you enjoy the game - I prefer the Japanese scene in the CornellVerse over any other, truth be told, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. I'd take PGHW over BHOTWG any day of the week, of course, but still. Have fun. ;)
Tigerkinney Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Just spotted this thread....... Sadistic Blessings is pretty much right on the money, whe he says push the Junior Divsion, I also raised Modern in my game to reflect this, because at the start the heavyweights outside of Kudo, Nakasawa, Horri and Ino are mediocre (Masuno, Hamacho) at best and god-awful at worst (Taira, Everest)........ You could break up The Rebellion, but you need them to carry your tag division at the beginning . For the Tag scene I unified the Junior Tag Belts with the Wolrd Heavyweight Tag Belts and made it an 'Openweight' Division, opening up alot more options in terms of the teams I could put together. Eventually once you've got a decent enough Tag Division up and running, you can break up The Rebellion and start their deserved singles pushes. I also agree with Sadistic Blessings view that the working agreement with WLW comes in very handy, especially if you want to expand the field for the Best of the Super Juniors. Cup .....that is you move it to May. WLW don't tour in June, which means that their workers suddenly become unavaiable for Talent Trades. Here's the major things I have done in my diary, for my vision of BHOTWG, remember the product can be tweaked, and at the end of the day it's your vision. On a personal level of running BHOTWG, I quickly realised that I would get a little bored running BHOTWG as purely a puro fed, so I moved it more to a product that probably resembles something more akin to ROH than NOAH or NJPW... Product: Raised Modern up a level, changed to 90 % Match Ratio, to allow for a few more angles. Tag Titles: Unified Junior and Heavyweight Tag Belts, when Kokan & Konda, who I titled 'Size of the Fight' won the Heavyweight Belts. Tag Division became an Openweight Division. Openweight Title: Raised it up to a mid-card title, turned focus away from it being an Under-30 jobbers title, to a 'stepping stone' title. Added rule that after 10 succesful defences, the holder would have 'proved' themselves at that level, therefore vacating the belt but getting an automatic World Title in the process Touring Months: I added an extra month of touring in December, giving myself two four month tours to work with. Tournaments: Moved Best of the Super Juniors Cup to May, added main event level 'G1-Climax' style tournament in newly added month of December, added a Trio's Tournament.
MVP Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Thanks for all the advice. Some things here seem to be pretty interesting... I'll be sure to follow all your advice to make my Burning experience the best! Thanks a lot everyone!
