What would you do?

Hey guys. I am writing this to ask what you would do. When SB asked me to help mod Forum Wars I was elated. I loved the CV games. We set out and worked thru about 75% of the roles. They were written up. The game mechanics are in place. The last 25% of the roles I have written or at least have notes and rough drafts on. Little look inside the process>Brainstorm>rough draft>SB would flesh it out>finished role PM. The problem is that I haven't heard form him in two weeks. I don't know if he has real life problems(I hope not) or has internet access problems. My question is this. As the current game has reached 10 players remaining, it may be over in a week. Do I go ahead with the game? Everything is in place. I'd hate to have done all this work and have it sit here. I would rather go ahead and start it, not knowing what has happened with Sadistic. I know that most of you have looked forward to this game. I have looked forward to modding it. It should be quite entertaining. It is different and should be challenging. Thoughts?

Honestly the mafia thing is losing it's appeal to me. I get SO into it that my other projects suffer. I'd love to be able to skip the next game, but Forum Wars is one of the games I'm interested in playing, so it's a conundrum. On that note, I wouldn't mind if you stepped aside and let someone else present their game first. There are plenty of people eager to mod a game, so why force it when the timing isn't perfect? Just my thoughts.

I tend to agree with Self. If this we just some random game, I'd probably say go ahead and just run as usual. But since we're talking a concept even those who ar normally burnt out or losing interest in Mafia are going to be interested in, I think it should probably wait until it can run 100% smoothly. As long as this current game's been going and with work starting up for me this next week, I was thinking of sitting a game or two out. Having of course forgotten Forum Wars was next in line. So I'd say step back, let one or two of the other prepared games go and then revisit Forum Wars when you know what's up with SB.

I think you should go ahead with it in all honesty. You are the co-mod and everything was worked on together, so it isn't as if you would be stealing the theme away from him. If/When he comes back he can simply jump back into modding it with you. I honestly don't think he would mind, seeing as you are the co-mod and all.

We talked over this a bit on AIM the other day, and I'm kind of iffy on the subject. Forum Wars is a game I've been anticipating since CV2, and I can't wait to see how it turns out, but at the same time...I was really looking forward to the return of SB. Been waiting to see if he could re-raise the bar for us for some time now, and was hoping this'd be his huge game.

Good points, Arrows, but I would point out that administering the game and designing the game are two distinct parts of modding. SB does some great writeups, and if he's indeed absorbed in real life, I'd miss that. But SB still is the primary designer of the game and we know outlaw can do a solid job running the game. My opinion is to move forward with the game.

Well everyone already knows what I think about it, though my reasoning may be different. Still, SB being out for the moment is as good a reason as any I think, and while my motives are the opposite of a couple others, I'm still with them. Just wait'll SB gets back. I dunno much about him, but clearly people are looking forward to some of his work as much as the theme itself. Sounds reasonable to me.
I say go for it but lets have a slightly bigger brake between games. Hell don't even start sign-ups untill after this game is over. A 2 week break or so would do a lot of us good I think.

What he said
Indeed.

Ehh could take over a week to fill a 40 person game... I am all for a break but 2 weeks + week for sign ups is a lil too much for me. I'd say start the sign ups as soon as this game ends... probably because it could potentially be a week or more before the current game is over, and Nzane is obviously scum so he will be dying soon and can get his break then. :D
There could always be a smaller game running while the people who wanna rest take a break. :p
Also not a bad idea. I've got a quick ten person game all ready to go, should the need arise (I didn't say anything about taking a break from modding).

If so, he can join in, and if not, then there is no conflict! Also, seeing as it was my idea anyway ( :p ) I'd help co-mod if you feel shorthanded. I'd like too play too, but I think I need to practice modding some more... (Now I have my own computer, so I can be available whenever I'm home, as late as necessary! Woo hoo!)

Well, I'd say wait. I'm one of the guys that has WAY too much going on (full time study and a 20hr/pw job) it's hard enough to find time for filmmaking (even though that's now part of my study!). So I really wouldn't have time for a mafia game of any sort at this point, but I would love to play Forum Wars. Of course, I'll probably get killed on the first day for no good reason again...

Outlaw is more than capable of handling write ups and such.
Vote: Moe Hunter Watch your back... I'm considering moving up to Middleweight if all the Lightweights keep getting countered dead.
Hehe, I've nothing to do with the results of fights. I keep everyone's stats on a reasonably even level and things play out from there. Would you believe that you, Bryan Krantz and Derek Blackley were all given the exact same "levels" of base and boosted stats? Yet you're doing much, much better than either of them.
