Michael Wayne
something that's been irking me lately about 07 is that when I want to fire someone, I have to wait an entire turn to do so. Why? I should be able to "fire them on the spot" if I want. Should I want to terminate someone, I shouldn't have to wait a day to do it, the termination pending decision should happen instantly. I don't know if anyone else feels the same way... While I can understand pending decisions to hire taking time, terminations should be immediate. wilts
OK, 2 things. First off, why does it matter if you have to wait a day? Second, unless you would be a boss that would fire by text message, if we are going to go down the 'reality' route, then the likelihood is that maybe your worker isn't available on the day you have decided to fire him, or your diary is full so you would need to make an appointment for the following day. A promotion is unlike an office, every guy isn't there every day....
djthefunkchris
I can see this. Myself though, I count on it, because I fire them the night of a show. So I can tell them on air, "YOUR FIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEDDDD!!!!!"
Remianen
Mechanics, y0. Besides push changes, nothing in TEW is instantaneous. You'd think if you were a big fish in a small network/PPV pond, you could just call up your network or PPV provider and get an extra 30 mins/3 months tacked on to your show/contract. Don't work like that, does it? Plus, if this change is made, you have to change the entire employment engine. Why does it take a week to hire someone? We have these neat contraptions called 'cell phones' that enable immediate communication. If I get a worker on the horn in 15 mins, it shouldn't take 6 more days to get a deal done. How many times have you contacted a worker and had the pending decision rejected because they signed with someone else during that waiting period? Happens to me a lot (usually at the start of a game). Now tell me, in reality, if a National promotion called you with a possible job offer, are you going to turn them down summarily because Mom & Pop Wrasslin' offered you something first? It's mechanics. While I'm sure Adam knows about it (I'd imagine someone like derek_b or D-Lyrium has at least mentioned it), I can understand why it works the way it does. The engine has only so much capability to process information like this. It'd be nice to be able to fire someone on the spot. It'd also be nice to hire someone in less than 5 days. I'd love it if it didn't take up to 3 weeks/12 shows to get house show reports. But these are all future improvement possibilities.
takertitan
and in reality, if you are on a written contract it can take weeks to be fired. Contracts require lawyers, and only vince travels with 100 lawyers.

It's been suggested that contract negotiations be overhauled but the idea of being able to fire someone without waiting a turn to my knowledge has not. I'd like to see what other people say about this. I don't see the issue with game mechanics here. Maybe it's me. But as you stated, the game does do thing instantaneously. Like pushes. Or when you sign someone new, navigate away from the main page, then come pack, the "eye" tells you they need to be assigned a push. Why can't terminations operate this way? Click to terminate, go to the main screen, and click the pending?? And for some of you arguing realism... TEW doesn't operate like real life. In the TEW world, 2 months is like a year in the real world. Esp when it comes to gimmicks. So applying your logic to TEW, terminations COULD happen that quickly anyways. And signing someone is totally different than terminating someone already on your roster.
Greg McNeish
unless you would be a boss that would fire by text message
With someone that's really pissed me off, I probably would.

Self
The only thing that bothers me about contract terminations is that I don't feel bad about doing it, or happy to be doing it, or having any kind of emotional reaction to taking away a man's livelihood. I don't know how it can be done, but I'd love it if Stink and Grunt would do something to make me feel bad about firing them.

Example. You: "Hey, guess what, Stink. You're fired!" Stink: You: "No, no, I take it back, you're hired!"

Is there ANY practical purpose? Does it change the game mechanics in any way? I guess I just don't see why this matters to you. If it'll help you deal with this change not being made (as it won't be), think of it this way: when you terminate a worker, you are firing them on the spot. The game just leaves you a window to call back and apologize the next day. "What? Fire you? Why would I do something like that?" It's a good game mechanic, and there's no reason to change it.
