Vladamire Dracos
With the joining of the future workers with the main worker database, I was thinking that it might be time to do the same with User Characters. I was trying to think of anything that required them to be saved in their own folder and couldn't come up with anything. I was thinking that it would be nice to have two checkboxes, marking one makes that person selectable as an avatar but the person remains in the game even if they're not selected, while marking the other makes that person selectable as an avatar but the person isn't added to the game. The first checkbox is for those who like to play as a person who actually exists in that mods world (Cornelll, Nemesis, Vince McManon, Paul Heyman) with all that comes with being that person. Perhaps starting promotion can be limited to promotions that worker already has a contract with in the mod. The second checkbox is for those who like to add a character to their mods to play as (The Avatars, User Characters based on the player, etc.) who don't want those characters running around their mods when they're not playing as them. I think the Create Avatar editor could/should remain in this setup, with the exception of the characters created using it would be entered into the main worker data with the second checkbox marked. What does everyone think of this idea?
dvdWarrior
I love this idea. I'm not really a fan of the just-dropped-out-of-the-sky nature currently enjoyed by User Characters, and very much prefer my Avatar to have actually been a part of the universe for a while. I usually have to craft a handy, dandy backstory for them, something that would explain how they had left some mark in the business, enough that someone would hire them on to be a head booker at least, without developing any relationships or winning any championships. Ideally, for a fictional promotion that I created, the head booker, (my first choice of User Character), would be a semi-retired wrestler, and a former multi-time champion, but it's hard to put that into the game as it is now. Yeah, I'd very much like to see this change. Truth be told, the ability to pre-set a championship history and some relationships for the User Character is probably the thing I want most in the new TEW. Maybe we could even go back to the system used in the first TEW, (2004), a check box similar to what you mentioned above. :)
Dragonmack
Wouldn't the same thing be accomplished by just being able to take control of any character as a 'user character' for that game? I personally find the user character as a 'mixed bag'. While it is fun to create yourself as a wrestler, and I am getting the full experience of that in my diary game, usually you just end up creating some generic announcer/commentator/road agent character that can fill any holes in whatever promotion you are playing or starting. Frankly I would prefer the ability to just 'take control' of an existing character as the user character or not have to have one in the first place. If someone wants an unique character for the game, the editor already allows you to create a person\wrestler and import them into the game. While that is likely not a feature that can be encoded into the upcoming version of the game I would be interested in the rest of the communities thoughts on the need for the 'user character.' Day_Dreamer
I somehow think that adam's not gonna expand much on the user character thing, because it might cut into the whole role playing thing, ala wrespi. I don't blame him for that though. That aside, I would absolutely love integrating the user avatar into the game, I always find the game more fascinating if my user character has more history. Eisen-verse
Frankly I would prefer the ability to just 'take control' of an existing character as the user character or not have to have one in the first place.
From what I remember the old EWR games allowed you to take control of an existing character and I would LOVE to see that back in this game. It's always fun to create your own character, however, it would be fun to run with someone like Richard Eisen or Phil Vilbert.

NoNeck
Yeah, all you have to do is copy that person's info into the user character spot and then delete them from the database and reassign their contract. I do that for every game I play.
lazorbeak
I do the whole editor shuffle when I want to play as an in-game character, but it should be just a default option to play as an established character. Since people already use the database this way, why not make it easier to play as someone established in the industry?
