Derek B
Will an editor be released so that people can start working on writing real-world databases before the game comes out? I am pleased to be able to announce that TEW08 comes complete with an in-built TEW07->TEW08 database converter. Therefore, when the game is released, you can literally plug your favourite TEW07 database in, have it converted in a matter of seconds, and go straight into a new game with it. Obviously some editing will need to be done on the database to achieve optimal results (i.e. to take advantage of new additions), but you will instantly get a playable database out of it. Therefore, there will be no waiting after the release of the game until the first real world database is available.
Copied from the FAQ pinned at the top of this very forum. :)

jesterx7769
Probably a dumb question but I'm asking just to be sure, does this work if you are using the 07 demo? I understand its the same database files but just making sure the restrictions won't interfere
Derek B
As you say, it's the same files for the demo or the full game so I can't imagine any way for the data to not be convertable. The restrictions for demos are only for gameplay time, not for anything else.
