Wrestlers running late/too early on promos, matches

Recommended Posts

This is something I think would be an interesting yet challenging twist to have in the game. I think the topic is self explanatory. Just a suggestion, I know TEW 08 is probably done by now, but it's only natural that this make an appearence in TEW eventually, even in a patch or something, since its always been apart of modern day wrestling with live TV and whatnot.
what r u suggesting?
He's suggesting, for example, that in vew few instances, a promo that is supposed to go 2 minutes, ends up going over 4. Or a wrestling match was was supposed to go 13 minutes, end up going 10. This would force the show to either shave off or add on minutes to the rest of the show.

I would assume the thought process would be that the promotion would just make small adjustments to the rest of the card, that really wouldn't have much effect on anything, so really there wouldn't be much point to it. If wrestler X runs 2 minutes over on a promo, then you take a minute off the match for wrestler Y & Z and a minute from A & B. The fans aren't going to know the difference. Its probably not going to significantly affect the ratings for any of the segments.

If a wrestler with a bad morale and behavior rating decides to go off on a 10 minute long promo when he was supposed to go 2 minutes, it may cut the main event short, which would anger wrestlers and perhaps hurt the quality of the show or match from what it could have been. I think it provides added risk from pushing a guy like a historical Shawn Michaels, or Ultimate Warrior, and also provides some realism in the hazards of doing a live tv show sometime.

I think this may be one of those instances where it would increase reality, but ultimately hinder enjoyment, as people are giong to get sick of constantly altering segments coz of something running over. Booking is time consuming enough as it is. Asking them to go back and modify everything after the fact is like a kick in the balls.

It would require no extra booking work, just another bananna peel to slip up on.

and thats why you would think twice before you hired Warrior for his 4th WWF run now isnt it? Remember his WCW debut? that was in the main event and he ran like 6 min over. Had Turner not owned the network and allowed WCW to overrun, you might have been cut off half way through. It would be another way to make the characters seem more realistic. I am all for adding more "stupid" or "random" events to TEW, cause **** does happen. Stuff like: "Kevin Nash took a dumb in The Kings crown again, so King went out without it." "Shawn popped 6 somas before his match and fell asleep in the corner" "Sid kicked out of Hogan's finish by mistake" "Brock missed his SSP, luckily Angle was smart enough to come up with another finish" Random stuff like that.
