mjdgoldeneye
Wowza! ....
Mortal Kombat is getting a major makeover. For the first original installment on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Midway is not only tinkering with some of the fundamental features of the long-running fighting franchise, it's going to feature a crossover cast of characters pulled from the pages of DC Comics. That means Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will feature Sub-Zero and Scorpion taking on the likes of Superman and Batman. Other characters from each universe have yet to be confirmed for the game, but Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon told GameSpot the developers were looking for counterparts between the two brands. The new characters won't be the only changes to the Mortal Kombat formula. Comic fans would no doubt cry foul if Superman dismembered an opponent and then proceeded to beat him to death with his own limbs, so Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe won't carry the familiar M for Mature rating. As for the storyline excuse for the crossover, some unspecified climactic event causes the Mortal Kombat and DC universes to begin merging. Each world sees itself as being attacked by the other, and their respective characters join the fight to repel the strange invaders. To help pen the tale, Midway has enlisted comic creators Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Grey. The two have worked together previously on a number of DC and Marvel comics including Jonah Hex and Shana the She-Devil. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is set for release this fall.
.... Interesting... Any thoughts? I think this is a weird idea, but can be fun. The story will suck by default.
BIGJOSH
Most of the times these games suck...I'm sure it won't even touch Marvel vs. Capcom.
AfRoMaN36
Its just MKs response to all the Street Fighter vs Marvel games. Might be interesting though. Even if I am a Street Fighter guy.
Guest Ransik
Like with all MK games... if the matches don't last more than 30 seconds it will be worthless. There's nothing more annoying than paying $50 for a game and finding one punch drains 10% of your opponent's energy.
Moe Hunter
Good lord. This will be the first MK Fighting game that I will not buy. I own every one from MK1 to Armaggeddon, but this is BS. "Let's remove everything from MK that MAKES it MK, throw a bunch of second rate comic characters and call it money". NO. Even just the inclusion of Superman in a fighting game is BS. Yay, let's all fight this guy with invincibility, super speed, super strength... Wait, how is anyone supposed to beat him, exactly? No amount of Bicycle Kicks or Harpoons or whatever watered down move they're giving Johnny Cage this time... could conceivably beat Superman. They say they're looking for parallels? How about this? Scorpion = Ghost Rider SubZero = Iceman Kenshi = Daredevil Li Mei = Elektra Blaze = Human Torch Shang Tsung = Doctor Strange Shinnok = Mephisto Quan Chi = Mister Sinister Rayden = Thor Sonya = Black Widow And that's just off the top of my head. Marvel vs MK would be a much better idea, but still I'd rather have plain ol' MK8 any day.

The only way it could maybe make sense to have Superman in a fighting game would be to have him as the final boss where you have to smack the crap out of him for a whole hour. :p

Don't let the Mortal Kombat people know that magic exists in the DC world and that it doesn't add up for it now to be a weakness of superman. I am at the point 2 things will help decide if I get this... 1. Fatalities must be in. This is Mortal Kombat a series built on fatalities which it sounds like they are leaving out (though I hope it just mean some of the DC characters will have non-lethal moves whale the MK guys and some DC people will do fatalities). 2. Good game play. The interview I saw talked about a lot of changes going on with how the game will play (if it goes like the change from 2d to 3d I will stay far far away cause man did MK4 suck). I think DC might disapprove of Batman being decapitated. :p Mortal Kombat II is still my fave of the series.
