I got around to watching the show this time around because well... I'm bored. Plus I heard The prediential candidates would appear on the show and well.... here you go. The Good: I'm glad CM Punk seems to be getting this massive push he is getting despite losing the KOTR. I wont say its about time because I unlike many of his fans, am not an internet geek and have infact kissed a girl before. But he is gaining momentum like nobodies business and this Money in the Bank thing may be his ticket out of ECW. I doubt they'd push someone so hard with the intent of keeping him on the third brand. The presidential promos were also nicely done. Kind of an overkill with the wrestling puns but what are you gunna do? I also liked some of the matches. Y2J vs Punk standing out the main event was solid also..... However... lets go to the Bad. The Bad: Was Vince like..... not paying attention to the Rosie vs Trump crowd? HE WAS AT RINGSIDE!! Why would he try to do this again with Barak and Hillary? The crowd clearly wasnt into this. I was ready to congradualte the WWE on once again bringing politics and urging their fans to vote, then they piss it all away with that painful segment? Thank god for Umaga in the end. Rating: **1/5 The action was okay. Y2J vs Punk was great. Regal vs Finaly was short and sweet. But other than that, nothing was spectacular. Not to mention the HilDog vs Obama catastrophe. Best Pops: 1. Taker 2. HHH 3. Cena Best Heat: 1. Edge 2. Orton 3. The Barak and Hillary match My Two Cents: * Did someone forget to inform the presidential candidates that other wrestlers exist BESIDES the Rock? * And arent you convinced that McCain watches too much wrestling? * How loud did you pop when you saw Umaga come out? * And wasnt that Bill Clinton impersonator spot on? Give them that atleast. * Pennsilvania never felt so special before.... * And never will again.... * LMFAO Jim Ross called the divas "Authentic" * But man did Ashley look like white trash during that segment? * Man Phoenix looks like a monster! * ...I would still totally do her though! * Well with Regal as KOTR, Smarks really cant complian that Ortons the only Wellness victim to get pushed now, huh? * Was Taker ever tagged in? What did you think of the show?

I decided to check it out seeing as how the KOTR can end up being a big deal... and it was a pretty big let-down. While Regal getting some recognition is a very good thing... where the hell can they go with it? He's the GM of RAW... it can go nowhere. If they're not gonna take the KOTR seriously, they need to stop sporadically bringing it back for cheap ratings. Having Hornswoggle as an entrant... that right there says how seriously it was taken. Should've been Hardy and MVP in the Finals with Hardy going over to give their feud the kick start it needs because of Matt's time off due to injury... but yet... as predicted... both eliminated in the Quarters. I used to love Finlay. Leave it to the WWE to turn an Irish hard-ass into a sad and pathetic sideshow to an even more sad and pathetic sideshow. Fire Khali. Is this WCW now? Every other week now it's "the biggest Main Event in RAW history"! Why not just hire Tony Schivanoe to take Mike Adamle's former spot to just randomly walk out like Ron Simmons and go "....... biggest Main Event in history" and just have him walk off. Same damn effect. Just turn Umaga or switch him to another brand. He's got monster potential for the Main Event and he's been wasted for months. Kane's a World Champ feuding with a Cruiserweight over the third string belt and jobbing... I bet poor Glen is soooooo happy of his choice to stay with Connecticut all these years! Anyone else remember the Cruiserweight Title? Anyone else notice everything Hornswoggle is booked into he flat out ruins? This makes the McMahon Child Angle... the Cruiserweight Title... and Finlay. I won't even talk about the pathetic attempt at "humor" with that weak and disgraceful "match". OVERALL: 2 stars... only for seeing a couple good KOTR matches. Dull, bland, boring, nothing new and all the same crap we've seen week in and week out. And we get it... Batista doesn't trust HBK. Find a new way to go with this feud!

The show sucked The KOR is for pushing people and i think wwe lost sight of that Regal didnt need to win when he isnt even being push as an active wrestlers I dont think they know what to do with Punk yet because i really think they want Hardy to be the guy with the title even with his history and i hope he stops doing whatever he is doing because he can do better but out of 5 stars i give it a 2 out of 5 because the mainevent was good jericho and punk was awesome Mvp and jericho was good and cm and matt was good as well but ever other match and promo sucked

Is it possible that King Regal is going to make a full-time in-ring return, creating a vacancy in the Raw GM spot? That, at least, would make the result somewhat understandable. Not sure who Regal would ally with or feud with, but it just doesn't make sense that they'd run a KoTR that doesn't go anywhere. (I know, it's the E, it doesn't have to make sense, but still...)

If you enjoy it then fair enough but to say it's the "same crap we've seen week in and week out" means you clearly don't AND you still watch it regularly. I haven't watched any WWE stuff for ages and I'm really no worse off for it. And the only way the E will ever change what they're doing is if a lot of people turn off their TVs and stop buying their merchandise. Seriously, if people who hate it like you do keep tuning in week after week then why would they change their style?!

It is always more enjoyable for me seeing the king(heel) get put in his place. Its really not a great face gimmick so I really expected a heel to win. I think Carlito may have been a better choice(****y heel thats good at acting and mic work) but I am interested to see what the plan is with Regal. Regal was the most logical choice by far, and hopefully this marks a full time return to the ring from him. Winning all three matches by submission was a good way to put him over (allthough one was against Hornswoggle). And yeah, King gimmicks don't work for faces. They've been playing Y2J as sort of a heel for a few weeks now, so I could have seen him win it, but definatly not Punk or Hardy. Regal should be able to play the arrogant royalty perfectly, and he has the skill to back it up as well, so I personally think it was a good choice.

I planned to watch the show completely cold, but when I Youtubed it, it showed me all the damn matches and made watching the whole show pointless. Damn spoiler based society (though this site rules for discretion). I've only watched the final. - William Regal? Seriously. I know he's good, in that slightly dull, make-some-tea-while-he's-on kind of way, but making him KotR? I'm shocked (and yawning) I get that he'd be the best of the lot in playing the King gimmick, but why does this tournament need to end with that? The awesome King Booker is too fresh in my mind to accept another kind, so giant 'meh' on this one. - So Punk is winning a lot of matches, but what are they actually 'doing' with him. Does he has a storyline? A character arc? A purpose beyond "I have briefcase, me want title shot"? Punk's a pretty good watch in the ring, but his character is far too bland for me to get behind... and his finish only looks good on John Morrison. - I would have put Matt vs MVP as a first round match... or a semi-final... or have MVP advance, then screw Matt from advancing out of fear of having to face him. Key point, work the feud. This tournament seemed to lack purpose. When it's on PPV it's a big deal. On TV not so much, so mix in some feuds. - No Kennedy? I'm not his biggest fan but... Did he get injured when I wasn't looking? - I'd totally do Beth too. May watch a couple of the other KotR matches, but that'll be it. EDIT: Why didn't they do this when they were in England? The King gimmick would have been more fitting, and Regal winning could have blown the roof off the place.

I guess I'm the only one that halfway liked it, lol. Since I liked most of it, I'll just post what I didn't really like. Regal winning the KOTR. I don't know, it might lead somewhere I imagine, and I aggree with the "heel" factor here, but still... MY main complaint is that there weren't enough competitor's in it. I could have sworn I read that Cryme Tyme and other's were going to be in it, so that was a big let down for me.... I liked most the match's, and the way they kept Finlay looking strong (by that I mean... Get him hurt, to make it believable that Regal would overcome him). Same thing with Punk (He was selling his back being hurt from Jericho the whole time). Hornswaggle being in it was obviously to give Regal a "Very Obvious" easy win to get him into the semi's. Regal winning has some obvious points to it, but I would have rather seen him win "legitimately" rather then the farce they made it out to be (even his last match... Punk was through after Jericho had him in the Walls of Jericho. I liked the rest of the show though. I even liked the Clinton (especially Bill) thing going on and JR Saying "Look at Ear's... I mean..." Was Entertaining enough for me, we all liked it here. Our only complaint was KOTR, but we laughed allot anyway's.

This is what I thought: * At first I was pissed that they had Regal beat CM Punk for the KOTR. Regal hasn't been an active wrestler for awhile now and to have him beat one of their up and coming superstars really kind of made CM Punk look weak. Then again, Punk was selling "injuries" from his previous matches so maybe they can play it off like he was softened up first. All in all, They better do something with this... Like make Regal think of himself as a King now and rule RAW "with an iron fist". That's the only thing I can think of and it may be good for his character. However, if they do nothing with it or pretty much squash the fact in a few months then it will go down as a major failure in some senses. Putting the win on CM Punk would have continued the fact that he is a force to be reckoned with in 2008. Putting it on Regal says "That some guys can still go". * With that being said, Regal vs. Finley was pretty good! I'm not a fan of either really... but I really liked the match. The WWE needs more of this... tougher looking matches that look a little more realistic. * While I was a big fan of them bringing in the candidates to speak (The potential to reach a larger audience of voters they may have not had a chance to before hand)... The little match they put on between The "BarracK" and Hillary "Hogan" was completely useless. I to was excited to see Umaga there. I didn't get to see much more than that really, however, the stuff I did see I wasn't jumping out of my seat for.

Haven't seen the show yet but considering the amount of jobs he's done to Triple H over the past year, the only way to make him legit if he's making a comeback would be to win the KOTR. Maybe its my British heritage but I'm a Regal mark and when he wins I'll probably mark out. If they do a new draft I'd like to see Regal move to ECW as he's a talented worker and good on the mike and deserves something better than being Trip's job monkey.

Holy crap, Regal won. I still can't believe it. We're talking about the guy who taught Bryan Danielson his technical style, we're talking about the guy I've been marking for since his WCW days, we're talking about THE Regal... it's the first time in a looong while I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next in the WWE. As much as RAW sucked yesterday (just like it did every week in the past 3 or 4 years), I don't regret watching it, just to see King Regal. All hail the future top heel of the WWE, and hopefully future WWE Champion, William Regal! Now to hope Santino becomes the new GM...

it sucked they could of had a better match then regal vs hornswaggle(spelling) or at least have Regal go against somebody worthy of a shot and the punk vs matt match, Khali vs Finlay match, and Regal vs hornswaggle match were really short. they could have made them longer and got rid of the presidential match ps what was with the svr 08 match between hillary and obama they didn't need it either

Wow, a lot of negativity around here for the King of the Ring. So first... the bad points from my POV. The matches were short... waaay too short. I know they had a whole 8 man tournament to get through meaning they had 7 matches, but they didn't give the matches the time they needed to develop and that hurt later in the show. No-one had time to get fatigued, no-one had time to get injured (Punk, looking at you) and so Regal's easy route to victory didn't mean anything near as much as it should've. On the plus side, Regal's victory! :) I may not be in charge of RAW booking (Sadly) but right about now would be the perfect time for Regal to form a stable consisting of himself, Burchill (w/ hot sister who's character name I can't remember) and Umanga. While I don't expect him to push himself to any real glory I can see him taking the IC belt from Jericho in future and pushing Umaga up the ranks. Or I can see him teaming with Burchill again to put himself into the tag ranks. He could easily use his King skills to push himself into a more dominant authorive position that could even clash with Vince McMahon in future. He's got ready made feuds with Finlay, Jericho and eventually... CM Punk. As for Punk, he's got loads of booking opportunities. He's still got Edge to get even with following what happened with the ECW belt, so if Edge ever wins the title back I wouldn't be at all shocked to see Punk steal the belt from Edge minutes later. Similarly, he was just beaten for the King of the Ring title having fought through some tough opponents while Regal had the easy route. If Regal starts exerting his authority on RAW the two could clash should Punk move over to RAW at any time, especially if he hasn't cashed in his Money in the Bank yet. And of course... Punk always has the possibility of turning heel, although to be honest I don't see that happening any time in the future. While I feel his heel character is far more entertaining he truly is the kind of guy the WWE need in a face role. He's clean, he's got skills on the mic and in the ring... and he's getting a solid fan base behind him. CM Punk = the future. Sooo... I mark for Beth and her legion of womb as they all marched to the ring. Don't ask me why cos I don't know... but I really did. While I doubt the Divas are going to suddenly start performing at Knockout level, Beth is a helluva talent and Mickie has skills. They could make things interesting for a while again. Personally... I want more of Melina. :) I enjoyed the Barack/Clinton stuff, it amused me plenty. Trump/Rosie was horrible in so many ways that I feared for the candidates... but it was good. Also, I miss seeing the Rock Bottom. Such a great move needs to be brought back cos seeing "Barack" do it so sweetly made me mark. Oh.. and the main event was stupid. A big multiman tag... for no real reason other than as filler? Oh joy... Anywho, enough from me. Smarks can be so short sighted sometimes so I thought I'd offer up some of my opinions on stuff. I'm still waiting for Kennedy to turn out to be a McMahon somewhere down the line... it's a storyline that could easily be resurrected, with McMahon never trusting Kennedy after he was tricked so easily last time...
The Good: I'm glad CM Punk seems to be getting this massive push he is getting despite losing the KOTR.
What massive push? I don't care what internet wrestling site has said otherwise. Since winning Money in the Bank, he has yet to accomplish anything of note. The RAW following Mania? He got jobbed out. Beating Matt Hardy is not an accomplishment. Getting his win back against Jericho is not an accomplishment. Losing to the General Manager of a brand is not an accomplishment. I'm not the type to constantly bash WWE, but RAW was just frustrating to watch. William Regal is a great wrestler, but has not been worth a **** in the WWE since early 2002. This is the same guy who was second string to Eugene, got jumped by the Mexicools, got forced to wear a dress by Paul Burchill, pinned by Vito (who sat on his face while wearing a dress), and jobbed to Jim Duggan on HEAT.

I don't watch it all the time. When I read about something interest coming up in a preview online, I DVR the show... and I read the results online. Most of the time I see nothing new that wasn't done at the same time the previous year. There's no unpredictability anymore and it brings the product waaay down.

Yet it's totally predictable?
