Your Relationships

Recommended Posts

Do you let your relationships form normally or do you add your own? Sorry I've been asking a lot of questions but with the pending release of 08, I want to get a feel for what everyone is doing and how they play. As for me, I create all my basic relationships. I am friends or loyal to my favorites. I always give myself a dating relationship depending on my character. Right now my character Stuart Rickman is dating Shelly Martinez. Sometimes I create a story for certain relationships. For example, my character is good friends with Mr. McMahon because his political style rubbed off on him. I tend to let my dislikes and hatreds form naturally.

I've forced myself to be friends with Mick Foley, Hulk Hogan, Stephanie McMahon and Steve Austin because in real life, if I were a wrestler, I'd love to be friends with these four. Also I often force myself to date whomever hot diva I like atm. Hatred relationships I often form let on there own though.

I let them form on their own. In my current AJW game, I was going to have myself dating one of the talent........but couldn't decide which one. :p And since TEW doesn't support "friends with benefits", I just left it alone. I did start with several loyalties for backstory purposes ("The Alumni", which are part of the ownership group) but besides that, I just let them develop over time.

During a game I had a core group of 5 workers who all started off in my regional promotion with popularities of Es and worked their way up into my international promotion with A* popularity across the board. After signing they all developed loyalty to the promotion so over time I started to add loyalty relationships with my user character (normally after they won a title). I also gave Prince Justice a loyalty relationship purely because I didn't fire him when he kept dragging down the ratings. I added a hatred relationship with Sting because, after literally months of build to his debut, the week before he was set to make his in ring debut he signed a written contract with some two bit Mexican company. I had just wasted all that build and had to book him into a match with the champion just to lech off of his overness. Me and Shane Douglas don't see eye to eye after he dropped my title in the bin after heading to the WWE's developmental territory.

Editor - Add Data. I have two 'forced' relationships; a friendship with Ed Monton, who 'owns' the developmental territory I set up, and a Strong Dislike with Eric Tyler, because he was booking 21CW when they declared war on me. The others I've come by honestly: Dating Cherry Bomb Strong Friendships with British Samurai, Fumihiro Ota, Seiji Jimbo, Petey Barnes Loyalty from Steve Flash Strong Dislikes from Kelly Martin and Hidekazu

I was going to add a thread about it, but this will work. I signed Vampiro in my WCW game because I liked how he was in WCW and I planned on big things for him. Well it turned out he only had about 6 matches in my company within 6 months of employment. After being late numerous times to shows, I finally took action. I fined him the first couple of times. Then he kept it up, so I suspended him for a week, then he did it again, so I suspended him for a month. When he finally came off of his month suspension, the very next day he no-showed Nitro, so I had enough and fired him. During his month long suspension, we developed a dislike relationship...Well when I stated I wanted termination meetings, it went to hatred. I think he kept being late and no-showing because of our dislike relationship, but he pissed me off enough. I'll be glad to not work with him again. I just let my relationships form naturally. Strangely enough, I have strong dislikes with Scott Armstrong and John Laurinaitis. Probably because I fired them when I first started the game. Hopefully some likeable relationships will form.

I never force relationships at the start of the game unless I were to to a backstory or something. The easiest way to get relationships is to crank the relationships option up to high and fire people the first day. You'll usually get at least one. Positive relationships I think are just random. In my ROH game one day I got an e-mail saying I was now Strong Friends with BJ Whitmer (who I was jobbing the hell out of at the time, so I felt guilty). At the start of the game WWE fired Harry Smith, so I signed him and made him an upper midcarder, I've pushed the hell out of him for 2+ years and he won the Survival of the Fittest in 2009 and the ROH World Title in February 2010 (only after Danielson wouldn't re-sign with me). Point is, I thought this would form a positive relationship, but nothing yet. He IS loyal to ROH though and constantly turns down offers to tour Japan and go to TNA.

I pushed Jasmine St Claire to the moon as a legit athlete and managed to get her overness in the A's. I needed some bodies in that womens division, and I figured what body would be better than one than one that won the record for the largest gang bang? Unfortunately, she never started a positive relationship with me and when I fined her for showing up late for the hundreth time, she ended up disliking me. So I fired that ingrateful woman and her world record. .... Slut!

Most of my relationships were dislike/hatred because of disciplinary and termination proceedings. I've got a few who are loyal to me for picking them up off the streets. Marc Speed randomly took a dislike to me, possibly because I never pulled the trigger on a sustained main event run for him. I added a friendship relationship between Grace Harper and myself to get her to sign for me - this replaced the dislike relationship caused by me firing her a couple of years before. She's now one of my star workers. I've been tempted to add loyalty/friendship relationships with a few of my MAW originals (Jean Cattley and Steven Parker in particular) as I've done so much, with them but I figure if they haven't show up by now, they probably needn't be added with both men edging closer to retirement.

From my diary game: Generated: Strong dislike of Layla El, Dewey Larson, Steve Lombardi, Dalip Singh and Bob Howard Hatred of Marty Wright Self-made: Hatred of Hulk Hogan (left the day before the Rumble, which pissed me off), two of my real-life friends (they signed with WCW instead of me) Protege of Chris Benoit ("helped train me" before he died), Ricky Steamboat, Dave Taylor and Dean Malenko (helped once Benoit passed away- basically I just wanted to bump up my stats and figured a way to simulate it)

I got a loyalty relationship with El Demonio after signing him when he'd been unemployed for ages, was well pleased and gave him two title runs, and is constantly in the title picture, despite there being several better options!
