I am just blown away with the detail of the city. Wont get to play it again until Saturday, staying at a friends until then. I do have to admit when I first put it the machine I was blown away but played for 2 hours and stopped. However, I played multiplayer for HOURS yesterday... If you can find some friends, it's amazing. The actual structured games are so-so. They're fun, but the levels you can play on (just sections of the city, as expected) aren't made for multiplayer and things have weird pacing... The free-form multiplayer is sweeeeeeet though! You can enter "party mode" with friends, which is basically a missionless bout of randomness for 1-16 friends. "Free Play" is the same thing, except you bring yourself and anyone in your party to play with strangers who can come and go from the game as they please without affecting anyone in game. It's simply genius... The free form "game" is probably the mos fun I've had in a while, and it's completely unstructured! There are cops, wanted levels, and unlike single player, guns scattered everywhere. Your goal: Whatever you want! Here's a list of some of the awesome moments I've taken part in so far: [B]1.[/B] I was playing with my friend, Mike. Basically our way of playing was to drive aimlessly around the city and do whatever we come up with. Mike decided to look for a helicopter, as neither of us had piloted one yet. We wander, not really knowing where to find one, but we assume the airport. So, we drive there. I'm in what looks like a Chrysler 300 and he happens to find an awesome vehicle within the game: a baggage transport. It's slow and clunky, and he wants to drive it from the airport to Time Square! He stops his transport while ahead of me, and I am coming behind him fast. He opens his door to get out, and I have to think fast not to hit him. I swerve a bit, but accidentally press Y for some reason, and I fly out of the car and hit a metal pole and die. I spawn, and head towards the airport. I hear my Mike yelling at me to help him. Apparently someone found a military helicopter and was chasing his baggage carrier down the highway! I happen to see where at the airport the choppers are, so I lift off in one. At this point I have no idea how to drive one, but I start chasing the first copter. Imagine a baggage carrier going down a highway in New York towards Times Square chased by a helicopter which is being chased by another helicopter... I catch up, but mess up my controls and plow into a group of trees and die. [B]2.[/B] This is part 2. I respawn and head toward the airport again, as does MIke as he wants to fly a chopper. We get there, and crazy chopper man follows him and starts shooting at us. I try to get in a chopper to take the other one down, and at the same time he half crashes, half lands near us and starts shooting at Mike with an AK47. I'm in a helicopter, so I start flying low to the ground at the other guy with my blades pointed forward. He gets chopped up! (Pun intended...) With our enemy dead, we get into a helicopter, but my friend acts dumb and shoots off the main propeller... Dumb... :mad: There's so much more, but I can't stand to type it all up... You can be male or female and select 1 of 4 heads, torsos, and leg sets. You can also choose 1 of 2 hats and 1 of 2 pairs of glasses. I believe that's as far as it goes... I love 60 miles from the nearest store that MIGHT have it... so over-nighting for $10 extra is about 1/4 of the cost that gas would take to drive to the nearest Wal-Mart and HOPE it's there... I have got bored with Story mode and have played multiplayer for the majority of the time since getting it yesterday. If anyone fancies a game sometime, my gamer tag is White Venom II on XBL. But is there just a standard... nothing at all freeroam where you're all just wandering around? And if so, what are the things you can do it in besides killing each other? Haven't played it yet; plan to do that tonight after checking the Mafia game I'm modding and seeing what I can do. I'm eventually going to hook the thing up to XBL but with only a Silver membership, I haven't decided whether to fork over the cash for Gold on a regular basis yet. The things you can do include killing each other, kill pedestrians, get involved in massive police chases, obviously steal vehicles. The differences between multi-player free roam to your single player are the missions are disabled and although you can enter all the buildings that you can in story mode (even though they don't show up on your map) is that there will be no one serving and mini games like bowling etc are disabled... which sucks a little as I was looking forward to heading to the bar to kick my cousins ass in a game of pool! Nothing better than a mid air helicopter gunfight or being holed up in the bowling alley shooting it out with the police! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

GTA 4 is gonna make HUGE profits off this game. Their timing with the "free money" we're getting will send sales through the roof. I signed up 2 accounts in the same day so I could have guests play in ranked games with me on Halo 3 so I know it works and would seem that you can keep doing it for free(you will need a random email to link it to) as long as you would like and you just keep making a new account. I haven't played online yet, but I'd rather get into it in a game with a community like this rather than some randoms.
