I'd love a mod with new storylines. The game gets boring running the same feuds over and over and I'm not good at writing my own storylines (I always make them too short). I usually just run the unchained ones.

storylines so instead of starting a new thread I figured continuing this one would be ok. I've been working on making some new storylines. If anyone has some suggestions just let me know and I will see what I can do. I only have a couple right now, it takes a bit more work than I thought, then there is testing it out. Oh and BTW I'm new to the community so any help or tips would be great. And TEW 08 is my first venture into TEW. I played EWR quite a bit though.

Good stuff. I'm gonna try and write a couple, too. Been using the unchained storylines but not sure how much it differs and wanna see how the game plays with planned out storylines and steps and all that. Furthers I've got is writing a few angles to tie in with the unchained storylines which seems to be working. I wanna try and do a good storyline of the coming together of a mighty faction for my SWF game.

Nice. I've been working on a storyline similar to that. The formation of a faction could be interesting. Question I have though, what would you think a decent storyline length is? I know if we were to see a storyline in real life some of them take a month or more to build up. The problem I have in game is that sometimes I use a worker to much because I want to get some certain storyline points covered in one night. So I guess the question really is, how many storyline points, in game, is enough? or should that just be limited by how good the overall storyline is? I don't want to feel like the storyline is dragging on and on through seemingly endless angles and matches.

This is one of the reasons I used myths and legends as source material when I first started submitting storylines to guys compiling sets. They have set story points so there was a natural flow. Perhaps that's where you need to start at well. Find stories with set structures and just translate them into wrestling terms rather than trying to take angles and worrying about how far to string them together. A good storyline will have a beginning, middle and end. Get those elements down and questions like this will take care of themselves.

yea I've been working on actually fleshing out a story that way, but alot of times they are very angle-heavy which is ok i suppose. I just don't want the storylines to have to run for 6 months or more to get everything in. And I don't want to over-use workers just to get to the payoff sooner. Does this make sense? I'm trying to word it the way it is in my head. the problem I just ran into that really upset me, I made a long intense storyline and when I saved it, it did not show up on the list. I had imported all the default storylines since I want them to still be available as well as the ones I making. It now appears that the game only allows 39 storylines. Can someone else, maybe Adam, confirm or deny this please? I guess I could delete the unchained storylines to make room for new ones if need be. EDIT: ok so I tested again and this time it added the new storyline. buggy??? Anyway. I had a long drawn out big feud and lost it, I will get back to it.

I have tried about 5 times to write my own storylines in the editor....but I just cannot seem to wrap my head around how to properly do it. For those looking for ideas....here is one that I would really like to have (in fact, I need one for my current fed) Wrestler #1 (face) and Wrestler #2 (heel) are feuding. Wrestler #2 launches an attack in the ring (or ringside...or after a match, whatever) on Wrestler #1. Out of the crowd comes Wrestler #3 (a rookie, or, at least someone who is not known in the promotion or area) and rescues Wrestler #1. Wrestler #1 (the face) then takes Wrestler #3 (the rookie) "under his wing". The storyline moves into Wrestler #3 turning on Wrestler #1 (and joining Wrestler #2) at a big match between Wrestler #1 vs Wrestler #2 (or, maybe even a tag team match...) But I really have no idea as to how to add that via the storyline editor... Chris

I've got one kinda like that one I just finished up but I need to iron out a couple minor mistakes. I have worker 1 getting outnumbered by 2 & 3, he seeks help from #4. Then #4 makes the save setting up a tag match, which #4 turns on his partner and ends up a feud between 1 & 4. I just have to change a couple things around because a couple of the angles have the wrong person attacking and so forth.

Ya, I'm pretty much in the same boat, wish there was some better documentation on the storyline editor, cause I am just a bit lost with it, and the sad thing is I know exactly what I wanna do, but i just can't put the proper wrestlers in match the steps I want (And it makes it even more difficult considering I can't seem to go back and edit the storyline once I've completed it, to fix it up, or maybe i'm mising where exactly the storylines can be edited.. Now I'm talking about evolving a storyline once its start, talking about before its even started...) :(.. For those interested, or maybe can give me some ideas, I'm trying to a run a storyline like this: Wrestler #1 (Face) and Wrestler #2 (Heel) get a #1 contendership match announced by the main authority figure in the game.. Wrestling #1 beats #2, but #2 gets very very upset about that.. #2, forms a alliance with Wrestler #3 (Heel), to jump Wrestler #1.. Wrestler #1 cuts promo about his upcoming ppv title match with Wrestler #4 (Champ).. WRestler's #2 and #3, enter the ring, and jump Wrestler #1.. While Wrestler #4 makes the save.. Wrestler's #1 and #4 ask Authority Figure for a Tag Match, he accepts ... Tag Wrestler #2 and #3 beat Wrestler's #1 and #4 by mistakes by Wrestler #4 (Champ) Wrestler #1 and #4 end up in a brawl over the results after the match is over (Can't seem to find the proper angle for that) PPV Title Match, Wrestler #1 meets #4, and #4 wins, with unknown interference from Wrestler #2.. (Thus continuing the fued between #1 and #2) Finally, the storylines picks up how the Layered Protection Storyline in the game is like, where he'll have to go through two allies of Wrestler #2's, to finally get a hold of him in a PPV Gimmick Match, and Wrestler's #1 will win to end the fued.. So, see I got the idea of what I wanna do, just when the stuff is created, the particpants are totally out of whack, where it will have Wrestler #1 and #2 tagging together, etc.., kind of fustrating, especially since I know exactly what I want ! , lol and now that i think about it more, I may have figured it out why (At least in terms of what some of the particpants where out of whack at least), but I can't go back to edit the storyline, which hopefully someone knows how to do that :) still a fantastic game with lots of depth, that's for sure :) MP

Mino, MP, it's a little late as I'm typing here. But drop me a PM with either your AIM or Yahoo Messenger names and I'll be glad to see if I can help you sort things out. Writing storylines isn't all that bad once you learn the pieces. It's just the getting there that's the challenge.

we should start a team of storyline makers. everyone come up with a storyline and start making them. all of us use the "panix" system... and go to work. If we get a team of 10 people, and all just make two, that's 20 new storylines... Could be fun. Maybe someone should start a team sign up thread...

well it seems to me that one of the key things we need in order to make the storylines is some fresh ideas. along with that, I've been thinking of some storylines that wouldn't really work with the present angles, so we may have to make a few new angles here or there. anyone got a good handle on making angles??

Especially as it relates to the Panix system. It adds an extra layer of structure that gives you an ideal flow for the storyline. But if you wish to violate that flow because it doesn't fit the era you're playing or time limitiations on the talent you've cast in it, you can still do it freely. The time notations in the Panix system are suggestions rather than orders.

anyone intrested in joining a team to make storylines PM me.... the sooner the better as it might be helpful for a lil project that could be out by the end of this week.... all storylines will be welcomed, should be in the panix system, doesnt have to be an origianl idea, or one done in real life. another thing about storylines with the new game is you dont necessarily have to make new angles, since they can be done on the fly now.
may be a stupid question.....but, what, exactly, is the panix system?
A system designed by the GDS resident troll Panix04 to better organize and create storylines.
