Yep, but it's your job to grow your own talent so you can claim to be better than the competition since you don't have to rely on already known workers.
I understand - but in real life terms it's completely illogical and needless.
I understand - but in real life terms it's completely illogical and needless.
Make your own stars. Trust me - when they become the next mega-star, you'll pat yourself on the back and feel pretty good. Think of it this way - WCW stole established talent for years and the only worker they actually made was Goldberg. They went bankrupt if you don't remember. :p
I understand - but in real life terms it's completely illogical and needless.
No it's not. Look at how "established stars" did in ROH. Matt and Jeff Hardy were booed out of the building when they showed their faces. The fans wanted to see ROH originals. Building your own stars is superior to poaching other people's stars. You can shape them however you desire, and they're considerably cheaper to hire.

You're telling me that in real life if someone became **** hot in the indy's or SWF were having trouble re-signing a star, that TCW wouldn't be interested? How many wrestlers on the TCW roster itself were actually signed from cult feds or above?

It's so illogical and needless that Vincent Kennedy McMahon himself made a point of enforcing it for most of his tenure so far? Other than in retalliation to Bischoff's raids, Vince has ALWAYS created his own stars rather than stealing from other well-known promotions. Hell, 99% of the reason the Alliance angle sucked was because Vince refused to admit that the WCW and ECW workers might actually be able to win a match against one of his own boys :p The history speaks for itself: Kurt Angle - picked up after he walked out of ECW after one night. Stone Cold Steve Austin - signed from ECW after being fired from WCW. I guess they could get away with being a Cult promotion at this point, if you're desperate. The Rock - Never even got a chance to go anywhere else :p The Undertaker - Snapped up after WCW didn't renew his contract. Ric Flair - Signed when WCW fired him. Hulk Hogan - Signed from AWA after a contract dispute. Brock Lesnar - See The Rock. My point is, you're arguing that it's illogical and needless, when the most successful wrestling promoter of all time has been doing it for DECADES. You only have to 'suffer' for two years or so :p It's not like it's a permanent goal. Clearly Tommy feels that you need some home-grown talent to defeat the SWF with, rather than stooping to their level and stealing everyone else's. Edit: As for your last question: Aaron Andrews American Buffalo Billy Jack Shearer Brent Hill Chance Fortune Charlie Thatcher Clark Alexander Eddie Peak Edd Stone Freddie Huggins Genghis Rahn Giant Tana - debatable due to the wording in his bio, admittedly. Guide Harry Allen Joel Bryant Joey Minnesota John Anderson Koshiro Ino Randall Hopkirk Robert Oxford Rocky Golden Ronnie V Pain Sam Keith Sammy Bach Scout Steve Gumble Tommy, obviously Tyson Baine Wolf Hawkins NONE of them signed with TCW from a Cult promotion or above. That leaves Danny Fonzarelli, Rick Law (although whether USPW were Cult at the time is something that, if I was going to be a real prick, I'd look up. Faiiirly sure they were Regional as they only moved up to Cult when Sam Strong took over...) and Texas Pete. Amazing, two-and-a-half (I'm still only just counting Rick :p) whole wrestlers. Point proven yet?

There's no need for this argument to get out of hand. The goal is there to simulate the owner's preference for wanting stars to be developed, not bought. Does it cramp your style? Yes. It's meant to. If every owner goal was easy to deal with and could be waltzed through then there wouldn't be any point in having them. They're there specifically to shake things up, make you try new things, etc, etc. If you don't like playing with owner goals, you are catered for with the Free Style mode.
