Frank_Vest
I wanted to point out that stereotypically, wrestling fans are considered not the brightest demographic. I am sure all of you agree, in order to play this game with any success, you need a high level of a certain kind of analytical intelligence. The fact that TEW 08 has any kind of success is proof that the "stupid" wrestling fan stereotype is nonsense. We are all heroes, really. ;)
fatallylost
dammit.. so, all my years of villainy are just thrown out of the window because of this game?! Damn you Ryland!!
EricAdams
Remember when Vince McMahon was talking about "snobs" who turn their noses up at pro wrestling and its fans. I guess I'm a snob then cause take a look at the prizes of the gene pool that won McMahon's millions. What a bunch of downsy looking lowest common denominator mofos. Me, on the otherhand, I'm gorgeous.

Harmor
Something tells me Vince McMahon playing TEW = FAILURE.
Wouldn't that then kind of imply that WWE fans somewhat meet the requirements for this stereotype though, seeing how WWE is so popular? :D

Harmor
While we're at it and don't need a new thread for this I guess, what other games do you guys play? I currently have these on my PC: Medieval 2: Total War; GTR 2 and mods; GT Legends; Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday; Football Manager 08 (EA); Sins of a solar Empire (fantastic space rts kinda like Master of Orion if anyone knows this); IL2 Sturmovik; Silent Hunter IV and last but not least, TEW 04, 05, 07 and 08. I prefer 'button mashing' sports games on console (Ps3) as I have NCAA Football 08 (09 will be so much better..); Madden 08; NHL 08 (EA has gotta love me >_<); MLB: The Show 08 and Fifa 08 (arcade-tastic). I started watching wrestling in 1989 or so but ever since a few years its an on/off thing for me. Sometimes I watch but can't really get into it anymore. There are no indy feds where I live (northern Germany) so I can't watch anything else but WWE and TNA on TV, and tbh the quality (except the odd great thing happening) has gradually decreased over the years (imo, TNA booking is horrible, thanks Mr. Russo) in my book so I've simply lost interest. Thread derailed enough? Ok, time to get back on track ... the TEW games are my wrestling fix these days and its all I need honestly ... but I wouldn't consider myself a wrestling fan anymore. The fact that the game enjoys success proves that the stereotype is unfair, at least when applied to us...
ChrisWest
I play WMMA, TEW 08 and Football Manager 08. Preston North End FTW!
Frank_Vest
For what it’s worth, I haven't watched wrestling regularly since 2001. I still consider myself a fan, though. Other games I play? Baseball Mogul 2009, Front Office Football, Sims 2, WMMA, President Forever 2008 + Primaries... Incidentally, President Forever and TEW 08 have one thing in common...momentum is key in both.
There is a misconception about TNA booking these days. Yes, Russo is a member of the creative team, but he is one of three men. Everything in TNA that people automatically assume is something Russo came up with was in all actuality Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantell. Russo has a few pet projects, but that's it. It's my understanding that they have Jim Cornette in on meetings to trump anything Russo comes up with that is stupid. At least that's how it was when Russo first returned to TNA. So, the horrible TNA booking has little to do with Russo. Luckily TNA still is capable of putting on matches worth watching. They also have an amazing Women's division that the WWE wishes they could have...but that's because TNA hires women who have actual talent, not models. To get back on topic, I play virtually everything. I'm more of a button masher, except when it comes to PC games, then it's about RTS games (War Craft 3, Star Craft, Emperor of Dune, Rome Total War) otherwise I'm probably playing Wii.
