TCW: Actually Booked a Descent Card!

Recommended Posts

I think I am actually starting to catch on with this booking concept. I had TCW Malice in Wonderland PPV and actually got my first A. When 08 came out TCW was the first fed I tried and failed miserably. After two months and only one B- card with that stacked roster I figured I would try something different and ran a 6 month game with NYCW. After figuring some things out I figured I would give TCW a try again. My first 4 shows were all B- or B, and now my first PPV was A. Shocker I know! Here was my card....
Rocky Golden won a Battle Royal (Dark match with guys not on card) Acid def. Sammy Bach - B Eddie Peak def. American Buffalo - B ANGLE: Syndicate Talk backstage - A New Wave def. Machines for Tag Title - B- ANGLE: Tommy/RDJ Promo - A Minnesota def. Keith - B- (bad chemistry) ANGLE: Tornado cuts hype promo - B+ Tornado def. Rick Law - B ANGLE: Wolf Hawkins hype interview - B+ Wolf Hawkins def. Koshiro Ino - A (good chemistry) ANGLE: RDJ/Tommy video - A* Tommy Cornell def. RDJ - A* (good chemistry) FINAL RATING - A
Yeah :) AND you can clearly see that every other segment is better/worse to the previous and next segment. See that rollercoaster? THAT is what makes good cards essentially. In this case all angles received better ratings than the matches until the two main matches. If that Hawkins vs. Ino would have been A*, that could have been an A* card :) Well done! B, B, A, B-, A, B-, B+, B, B+, A, A*, A*

The problem I have with the rollercoaster effect is a) as a small company (I'm currently running an NYCW game), the matches pretty much come out at similar ratings, and b) I always get it wrong anyway, thanks to unexpected chemistry ratings and the like. So, how do you make sure it turns out how you expect it to?

I ran a 6month NYCW game. I started a diary too actually but no one ever replied and stuff so I figured screw it and gave up on diary but anyway. I just also booked my most over guys in the last 2 or 3 matches. I tseemed to do me alright. I usualyl came out with a C- or C show for NYCW, thats good.

You make it right with TIME. That's what I have been saying here. Once you come across a negative chemisty, you will never ever again use that match for example. The longer you play your game, the more you know about your rosters problems and therefore you can book cards where you don't have unexpected bad chemisty notes :)
