djthefunkchris
So I took the family to see "The Incredible Hulk" tonight. Seems that this is going to become a weekly family tradition thing, as on the way to dinner, and after dinner on the way home, the talk was what we were going to see next. My son seen Iron Man, but my wife wants to see that next (I haven't watched it yet). My biggest desire is probably the Indiana Jones movie. I want to see Iron Man as well, but I wish I would have seen that before Hulk, simply because of the ending. I'll be back later to state my thoughts on the Hulk Movie. My son says it was better then Iron Man (and before watching it, he said Iron Man was his favorite movie ever). He's going to be 18, so it's not like he just does this yearly (picks a favorite movie "EVER"). I think the last movie he liked so much was the John Cena movie, to keep it in retrospect (Likes high action, etc.). My wife, I was shocked loved The Hulk as well. I'll post what caught her eye in a later post as well, to eliminate a spoiler from happening too soon. Farther reading of this thread will probably have quite a bit of spoiler's for current movie's out. Proceed to read only if you wish to see spoiler's, otherwise don't complain. Anyone have any thoughts on current movie's out, maybe some suggestions after the next two we are planning on seeing? There is that new one with Angelina Jolie (that I actually DO NOT want to spend money to watch), and a couple other's my wife is interested in. Crychon
I thought Iron Man was the best movie I had seen so far this year, I thought it was pretty awesome. I liked the Hulk too, but I didn't think it was as good. I was originally going to see the Happening, but heard it was horrible, and avoided it, and my friends who went said that was a good idea. Let's see, if this helps, my movie watching schedule of stuff I'll probably end up catching (And the weekends they open): Get Smart (June 20th), Hanc ock (July 4th), Hellboy II: The Golden Army (July 11th), The Dark Knight (July 18th), The X-Files: I Want To Believe (July 25th), Tropic Thunder (August 15th) So yeah, I've got quite a few things I'll likely end up seeing on opening weekend this year. Tyler Gadzinski
Iron Man was a F'N awesome movie.. I would have to agree with Crychon as to the next movie picks per week.
ACCBiggz
I hadn't seen a lot of movies in theatres until this summer really... we were going to see The Happening, but heard it was awful and as I have never liked a MNS film yet I was apt to avoid it. I don't want to see The Hulk, and Ebert confirmed my suspicions and have no desire to go that route. Indiana Jones wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. Iron Man has been the best movie I've seen this year, although I missed out on Prince Caspian. The Strangers was terrible as well. As for films that are coming out or already out that I'd like to see: Kung-Fu Panda You Don't Mess with the Zohan Get Smart July seems to be a good month and there is NO WAY I'm missing The Dark Knight. djthefunkchris
Get Smart is definately on the list. I Liked Hulk, but I think I'm going to like Iron Man more. I think the comicbook research I've done has ruined certain movie's for me, but I have to say I was impressed with the Digital Hulk in this movie, quite a bit more then the last one. My only "Real" complaint, was that he didn't jump like he did in the first one. I understand them scaling him down, but I think that's kind of a trademark... Didn't like him hopping around as if he were Beast from the X-Men. The things my wife liked about it. She liked at the beginning, with "People let me tell you 'bout my best friend", the old show by Bill Bixby (David Banner), and Stan Lee's appearance (of course, but now she is actually noticing who he is in each movie lately). The TV Theme playing, and him going off hitching a ride (like the old TV version), and seeing Lou Ferigno again (Hulk from the TV show). I think those reminiscent scenes (and acknowledgements) were what made her really love the movie so much... She has never read the comicbook.... Oh, Also the "You won't like me when I'm Hungry" part, lol.
mjdgoldeneye
As for films that are coming out or already out that I'd like to see: Kung-Fu Panda You Don't Mess with the Zohan Get Smart
My sister saw Kung-Fu Panda and said it was good. She's 12, though, so take that into consideration. Don't Mess with the Zohan was mediocre... I highly recommend you don't bother with it. As far as Adam Sandler movies go, it was probably the least funny of his movies that are intended to be. If not, it's tied with Mr. Deeds for the least funny. It's 65% stereotypical racial/national humor, 15% wacky "un-Americanized immigrant doesn't get our culture" sexual humor, 10% "Unstoppable Beast" Chuck Norris like humor, and 10% popculture-in-relation-to-metrosexual-behavior humor. If that makes sense... well... there... Story gets a C-... There are also well over a dozen hummus jokes, none of which are funny. Get Smart (apparently) has Steve Carrell, The Rock, the fat guy from Borat, The Great Khali, Bill Murray, and other awesome people in it, so it should be great! And I really liked Mr. Deeds too. I think this has the potential to be like the others where I'm indifferent to it, but if I watched again on DVD it'd be a movie I could easily pick up and watch because it's light. Usually I'm put-off by casting bigger stars in TV remakes like Stiller/Wilson as Starksty & Hutch and the like... but if you ever watched the original TV show this casting seems perfect, I love it and can't wait. Crychon
Well, this thread kind of died, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the first movie on my little list, Get Smart, very entertaining.
masterded
Saw The Happening recently and loved it. I have no idea why it has gotten so many bad reviews.

djthefunkchris
Well, I seen The Hulk last week (which prompted me to start this thread). This week, I seen Ironman, since my wife and I haven't seen it yet. I have to say It was what I thought it would be (everybit as good), but it wasn't better... I enjoyed The Hulk more. The funny thing is, I think I would have enjoyed Ironman quite a bit more if I had seen it first. The Hulk kind of blew me away, so to speak. I liked the first Hulk movie, but no where like I liked this one. The first one I was upset that probably half the guys that do render's (including me, if I ever get back into it), could make a hulk every bit as realistic. This new one though... I don't know how to explain it. The facial movements, the blinking, the breathing, the whole 9 yards really, looked very realistic. He had more then two emotions on his face, to be a bit more blunt about it. I could tell when he was confused, mad, tired, frustrated, embarressed, scared, etc. These made for a 100% better Hulk, even if it still looked animated, it was done "right". I don't expect him to be topped out within' a year's time by some other computer animations.

I'm not a big fan of all the muscle's in the body being rippled like that, as I don't think it looks natural (which Hulk, although unnatural in how he was made, should still be natural looking). Example would be John Cena now, as opposed to when he was in bodybuilding. He looks 100% more natural (naturally strong, from weightlifting rather then steriods). Weather or not he's juiced or not, isn't the point (I have no idea). The point is that he definately looks more natural now, then he did then. I've always thought that the abundance of veins and rippling (seeing the strands that make up each muscle) was a more unnatural, juiced look. EDIT: I just realised what I said could be taken the wrong way. What I was talking about, with the first Hulk movie, is that it seemed as though they skimped out on the computer animation for it. Computer Animation in a full blown movie like that, well... It should just blow all the render's using Poser or DAZ away... Not because they are "Better" at it, but because they have tons more resource's for it. The rendering itself takes quite a while, just to add one high quality texture to your models. These were not obvious to me in the first movie (Almost looked like a standard texture was used.... of very low quality). For those of you that use these textures, and make your own, you realise what I'm talking about. IT's one thing to color in the texture, putting a pair of pants on it, or something similar... It's another thing if you have access to complete texture making programs that can use real photographs taken of the human body to make the textures. Although the model itself might not be "exact", your texture can make it look quite a bit more realistic with just the use of high resolution, real life photo's placed in the texture, instead of "Painted". The thing is, I believe I have seen comic's picture's of him looking more realistic and lifelike then the texture's they used for that movie... Perhaps they had a newbie doing the rendering, which would explain it, but still... If any of us had the type of resource's they have for these movie's, there wouldn't be any "easy" mode work being done. People here are willing to render for a few hours, just to have one picture of a scene in the best resolution possible. Think about the computer's they had to work with. They could render that same scene in about a half a minute if that. No stalling, waiting, and so on like we have to do on home pc's. Still, they have months and sometimes up to a year to get it right.
Moe Hunter
Hulk was awesome. I think I liked Iron Man better, but only because Liv Tyler dragged Hulk down that little bit. They guy who played "The Leader' Samuel Sterns was awesome, plus the brief bit of Doc Samson, Tim Roth and Edward Norton were every bit as good as you could expect, and of course all the cameos mentioned earlier. I can't wait for Get Smart, I'm the biggest fan of the original show, Don Adams was a phenominal comedic actor. I just hope the movie lives up to the legacy.
