A few questions for the experts & veterans

Recommended Posts

Okay, I have several questions I hope you veterans can assist with. I've been an avid follower of the TEW series all the way back to the days of Promotion Wars and EWR. So thank you, Adam, for helping to fill up this little void of anxiety and desire to become a wrestling promoter. In truth, TEW08 is the first time I've actually dabbled into the little world of Cornellverse. Now on to the questions: 1. What's error 351? I only come across it on occasions after I've changed the names of the wrestlers. When I go to click on "view profile" the error message just pops up and the program shuts off. Anyway to fix this? Or are there better ways of adding alter egos on an on-going game? 2. I'm head booker of SWF. My promotion grew to Global size and as such, I was able to secure a tv deal for a new show, plus expanded SWF Supreme TV to Mexico and Japan. At the same time, I was sealed deals with a couple of ppv carriers to cover the non-US regions. So with all these new deals, I hired about 10 additional superstars to the roster. Guess what? As soon as I signed them, spending thousands in the process, I get an email on the next day telling me that I've fallen to Cult Size. Huh? From Global to Cult in a couple of weeks? What happened to National? It says that I've dropped to two Ds in America. So I checked my popularity and importance; it has hardly moved. Is this a bug? Coz last I checked, Tommy Cornell's little promotion is still enjoying his National status. If it's the US economy, how come it hasn't affected the other companies? 3. How to increase importance of the company? 4. Richard Eisen has been pissed off at me from the first week when I decided to sign 2 (only) guys with a -B industry average. Apart from hitting the goals (which is 22 months away) how do I make him happy? 5. After each week's Supreme TV, I get the message that the crowd feels there's no hot storyline to follow, or something along those lines. How do I counter this? My rivalry featuring Vengeance, Christian Faith and Jack Bruce (unchained) runs at a constant B+. 6. I've copied a data folder from TEW07 to the data directory of TEW08. I used the in-game converter and was told that I was successful in the conversion process. But when I tried to change databases, only the default is available. Any way to fix this?
1. What's error 351? I only come across it on occasions after I've changed the names of the wrestlers. When I go to click on "view profile" the error message just pops up and the program shuts off. Anyway to fix this? Or are there better ways of adding alter egos on an on-going game?
Have you got the latest patch (todays)? Or any patches at all? ¬_¬ This was fixed quite a while ago if memory serves. As for alter-egos: Go to your roster, select the worker you want, click the 'head' icon ('Character'), click 'Alter Egos' and they'll all be there. Or you can create your own by entering a new name and picture in the Character screen (which I assume you've been doing).
Dropping from Global to Cult is quite common, because 'Global' and 'International' are both related to your world-wide popularity, rather than your home popularity. Think of them as "National, plus International" or "National, plus Global". So if you lose your National status, you can no longer be International or Global. Hence, if you lose your National status, you drop straight to Cult. As for why you've lost your National status in the first place... when you say "It says that I've dropped to two Ds", what do you mean? What says that? The Size screen?
3. How to increase importance of the company?
Importance is merely a percentage of your popularity dependant on the importance of a region. Think of it as popularity, but scaled to the game world. The Tri-State, for example, is 100% important. So any popularity you gain there will improve your promotion's importance, because that's the area that matters most. The Mid-South is slightly less important, so popularity gained there won't add as much to your Importance. Hawaii is relatively unimportant, so won't add much at all to the importance and size of your promotion.
4. Richard Eisen has been pissed off at me from the first week when I decided to sign 2 (only) guys with a -B industry average. Apart from hitting the goals (which is 22 months away) how do I make him happy?
Completing owner goals are the only way, just like failing them is the only way to annoy him.
5. After each week's Supreme TV, I get the message that the crowd feels there's no hot storyline to follow, or something along those lines. How do I counter this? My rivalry featuring Vengeance, Christian Faith and Jack Bruce (unchained) runs at a constant B+.
Make it hotter, then :p Also, you should probably have more than one storyline (although I assume you have, just didn't mention the others). As an aside, although I don't mind, most of these questions have been answered elsewhere on the board at least once ;)
6. I've copied a data folder from TEW07 to the data directory of TEW08. I used the in-game converter and was told that I was successful in the conversion process. But when I tried to change databases, only the default is available. Any way to fix this?
Check the data folder, are all the files there? And is it in TEW2008\Data\FOLDERNAME, instead of /Data/FolderName/FOLDERNAME? Sometimes it gets put inside another folder, so TEW can't find it. And again, have you got the latest patch?
