The Shape
I've wondered this for a while, and I ask because on my SWF game I began to run a show and the opening seg with Eisen interrupting a Faith promo and booking him vs. Eric got a B+, but then I closed the game realising I'd forgotten to book any dark matches, so I added Valiant vs. Akima Brave (B-) and High Concept vs. Death Row (C-) in before it and the Faith/Eisen seg only got a B. So it seems to have an effect, which isn't right in my eyes as those watching on TV, i.e. the huge majority who see the show, won't see the dark matches whatsoever. LoganRodzen
Dark matches don't affect your show.
jesterx7769
Your segments won't get the same rating every time if you exit the game then load it. It wont be a huge change but a small change like the one you saw isn't uncommon in my experience.
Rob4590
Contrary to the last two posters, yes, I believe that dark matches (and angles) will affect the 1st segment of the main show. Why? Cos every segment alters the crowd's mood - so if your last dark match was rated C-, then the crowd are likely to be less into the next segment. Yes - there will be a small random variation in the segment rating anyway as well. This was why, in TEW05, nearly every diary you ever read, finished their pre show with a sex sells angle - cos in 05 they were pretty much a guaranteed A* segment, and hence you started the show with the crowd buzzing. Cheers.
Death Row vs High concept got a C-! What's your secret?
It surprised me lol...only ran for 6 minutes, open match, scripted and working the crowd, decisive win for Groucho over Shady. First time I'd used Death Row in a long while, their momentum was in the E range (HC's around C/C+).

In 05, your sex sells angle rated exactly what the worker (usually a woman) had in Looks. Problem was, nearly everyone hired J.Ro to do it so A* was a given. :p
Mtm2k6
I actually saw an effect in 07, not sure about 08. The first match on the dark show would always be rated higher than normal, maybe cos the crowd were amped up for the first match.

Liamo
I had a dark match which was 8 minutes with Andre Jones and... someone else, and got a message at the end of the show saying I'd used him too much and instead of what I think would've been a good B- to B show, I had a C+. Second dark match (Pain Alliance going over Biggz Boyz) got a D+, but the show got back on track with the announcers hyping the opening on-air match and overall it got a B- with no specific comments made. The opener was only 6 minutes in-ring though.
CaliCurbStomppa
I always run a dark match for WWE just to make my low carders happy so they dont get upset with me for not booking them in weeks
Comradebot
I've definetly felt like I've seen Dark Matches still effect the rest of my show. Like someone said, they can bring the crowds mood down, and I'm pretty sure I've had it directly effect the openning segment of the main show for both good and bad. Moe Hunter
It may just have been coincidence, but I'm sure that I've had cases where the pre-show match was "too good" and brought down the rating of my opening match.
Gigas
yeah, if the crowds mood was brought up or down it would effect the opening segment.
WrestleManiac
I always thought dark matches affected the crowd which is why I always use the "work the crowd" road agent note on dark matches.
