Ghetto Anthony
Only the best graphics for my first mod thread. 2002: “The Year That Was; The Year That Could Have Been” (YWYCB) Hello everyone. I’m currently working on a 2002 mod (alone unfortunately – looking for help) that is a direct import of tommytomlin’s War’s End Mod. I always see people asking mod makers to create a mod based on 2002 so that they can run TNA from the very beginning. Nobody has taken the initiative to do so; therefore I’ve decided to make it myself. The Mod will be based in June of 2002. I considered a May start up, but then remembered Hogan was the WWE Undisputed Champion at the time and had to push it back a month. :p
The World Wrestling Federation… erm… World Wrestling Entertainment (****in’ pandas) has just completed the inaugural draft at the end of March, and is slowly spiraling into the product you see today. The Undertaker is the WWE Undisputed Champion after defeating Hulk Hogan at Judgment Day. And Brock Lesnar is ready for the next step of his Push. The King of the Ring is on the horizon, and SummerSlam is just around the corner. The challenge is not to remain on top, because you have no competition, the challenge is to save the WWE from John Cena… I mean its future.

NWA: Total Nonstop Action has a solid base of workers, and is just a few weeks away from its first scheduled pay-per-view event. The company is struggling from a financial standpoint under the umbrella of HealthSouth, but who knows? Maybe in a few years they’ll have their own weekly television show. ;) The sky’s the limit for this start up company. How far are you willing to take it?

Ring of Honor is a tiny promotion out of Pennsylvania. RF Video owner, and wrestling promoter Rob Feinstein is the founder and owner of this low budget company that promotes some of the best wrestling in the world. Your “founding fathers”, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, and Bryan Danielson are the faces of the company. The question is, can you make this tiny promotion out of Bristol, Pennsylvania into a contender?
Other active promotions include: All Japan Pro Wrestling Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion Border City Wrestling CHIKARA Combat Zone Wrestling Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre East Coast Wrestling Association Heartland Wrestling Association Jersey All Pro Wrestling Major League Wrestling New Japan Pro Wrestling NWA: Wildside Ohio Valley Wrestling Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE Pro-Pain Pro Wrestling Pro-Wrestling NOAH Ultimate Pro Wrestling World Wrestling All-Stars Xtreme Pro Wrestling Also taking requests on promotions you’d like in the game as most (all) of these are direct imports from War’s End. I'm aiming for 1500 workers. I'm also aiming for a few dozen more storylines/angles/injuries/gimmicks and many updated bios. I'm not setting a release date for this data, because I want to be thorough and I want to create a playable database that isn't 99% tommy, 1% me. All help is appreciated, but help with Japan and Mexico is extra nice as I'm iffy in those areas. Research can do a lot, but not enough to satisfy buffs of those regions. Tanski
This mod sounds awesome. It was around this time period when I stopped watching WWE regulary. It just got so boring and really bad choices... Now I will get a chance to correct them :)
BurningHamster
From what I understand, IPW:UK did not open until 2004. An alternative would be to include Frontier Wrestling Alliance which was an active British promotion during 2002. I would also like to see Toryumon included as they were pretty fun in 2002. I am bit of a Japanese wrestling buff and have some knowledge of Mexico. 2002 isn't my strongest era but I can give some advice if you need it. I guess I'll lay the blame on it being 1 AM here.
I would also like to see Toryumon included as they were pretty fun in 2002.
I'll look into Toryumon. tommytomlin
Hey, if you're using War's End as a base you'll probably have to drop a lot of the overness - it was bumped high to help the AI put on decent cards. Now the AI is improved, the overness for most of the WWF/WCW workers can be dropped, especially considering 2002 was a bit of a downturn.

davidEFC
I tried doing a 2002 mod for TEW 08 when the editor was first released but it got to complicated and doing it on my own was boring me. Marcus you know I will help out with this if you need it. :). No Japan or Mexico though :o.

Brak
Yeeeeeesss! I remember people talking about making a 2002 mod before 08 came out so I'm glad someone's actually doing it. Playing as TNA would be fun. They had a lot of great talent signed when they first debuted that they winded up never using/firing (like York & Matthews, Steve Corino, etc) so it'd be fun to fix these mistakes haha

Ghetto Anthony
OMG, I get to book Billy & Chuck and Al Wilson!
Oh yes. Billy & Chuck were amazing. Don't forget about RICO! I never noticed how talent packed the WWE was back then until now. The WWE is loaded. Here's a little update for everyone: The WWE Roster is completed. Still trying to balance overness, which is no easy task. I need some input on Brock Lesnar's stats at this specific period in time. Keep in mind he's still pretty fresh out of OVW, and he has Excellent Potential. And take a look at the left side of the image for the first half of the roster. MrCanada
I would boost Brock's technical skills greatly. B-'s if not better. However, lower Basics and Psychology to **** stats. Basics to something like a 60-65 and psychology to something like 50 or less. I find with a lot of stars in "past" mods people give them really good Psychology and Basics so they all end up A+ by the time they're 25-26, when in reality a lot of guys arnt even that by the time they retire. Anyone can learn how to do suplex's, flips, and **** quiet easily (why I hate spot monkeys) but its the actual psychology and basics (throwing convincing **** and such) that makes people truley good. BurningHamster
Personally I would leave Brock's tech skills where they are, drop his hardcore and puro a notch or two, lower basics and psychology a bit, lower sex appeal, star quality and microphone a bit too. If his potential is high and he'll be working with a bunch of guys like Angle or Guerrero, his skills are going to improve pretty rapidly so you don't want to start him off too talented lest Brock become too good too soon. Undertaker666
I definitely lower his Psychology and Safety stats. Reasons: Safety - Botched Shooting Star Press, dropped A-Train on his head, broke Hardcore Holly's neck. Psychology - Just look at the cage match where Kurt Angle couldn't get the door open for proof that Brock had no clue what to do if something scripted went wrong. shamelessposer
I'd drop Microphone to about a 50 and lower all the performance skills by about ten points. Puro and Hardcore should each be in about the D+ to C- range. Remember that Lesnar let Heyman do the talking for him until the betrayal angle in November, so Heyman is going to do a lot to boost his entertainment skills in that period. Also remember the epic Shooting Star Press botch and similarly amateurish mistakes he made in his first year. I'm not saying that he was a bad wrestler by any means, but in his first year he was very green and in game terms he'll turn into a polished wrestler by the 2003 Wrestlemania if given a historically accurate push. EDIT: And there's no way Lesnar has an A in sex appeal. Dude's about as ugly as I am. Maybe you created him in a 2007 database before that attribute was redefined? I'm going out of town for a few days, but when I get back I'll put out an early version of the data up (0.1) so you can take a look at the WWE in its complete form. AaronMaiden
I'm really looking forward to this mod, please take your time with it so it's as good as it can be :) I'd say Lesnar's technical skills should be upped a bit, considering the amateur wrestler he was, but everyone else has touched on everything else. davidEFC
Update. Whilst Marcvus has been working on WWE I have been updating the Title Lineages. I have also added the actual ROH ROH Events from June 02 until May 03. I will be adding ROH as an active promotion today and doing their roster. We could still do with some help or websites for Japan and Mexico promotions/rosters in 2002
keon
I can help with anything for the WWE, just pm me.
AaronMaiden
Question: will TNA have their roster? Because I'd love to build my own roster for them, but I realise it probably makes more sense to put their actual roster in to avoid any AI stupidity. The mod start date is June 2002 so it will have their roster in unless Marcus has other ideas.
AaronMaiden
Yeah, it was May, but they didn't run their first show until June 19th, that's why I was wondering.
The Shape
Can't remember much about brock but not sure if he warrants a B- in brawling, he never did much of it s'far as I recall xD Could be hideously wrong of course.
