A year of Developing stars....

Recommended Posts

I'm playing my SWF game and went into the editor to see how long it would be until some of my fav. people outside of the SWF roster would be up to negotiate (I don't change anything... Rather spend the time as if I had a "mole" that could find out this kind of stuff for me) and found that pretty much everyone who would mean anything won't be coming to the end of their contacts for at least a year. Some are looking at around 2 years (I really want Sean McFly but he's under contract for like 620 days) and others are roughly just about a year away. So, needless to say... I'm going to have to create superstars from now until then. Has anyone developed any potential main eventers in their SWF game? Someone who wasn't really over enough when the game started but you got them into the main event without hurting your own popularity? Cheers.
Also, another question.... When you send someone down to train your younger workers in a developmental company do they have to be active wrestlers? or can I send down someone like Manuel Prieto to train my wrestlers?
If you send active or semi-active competitors then they can obviously appear (and sometimes, lose to) in matches with the talent you are trying to develop, which allows your prospects to learn skills as well as gain overness. But as has been noted, workers still develop if you send non-competitors, although I can't say whether that development is courtesy your (non-active) trainer or just because all workers working on development deals anyways train on off days [which is a new feature in TEW08].

I'm goofing around with SWF myself right now. Just ran Awesome Impact 2008. Newly main-event-ready and putting on phenomenal matches is Brandon James, due to begin a three-way feud; with Acid over Emma Chase and with Enygma due to Enygma's manager annoying him - Phil Vibert passed the DaVE alumni over to back up Enygma. (How the hell else was I meant to get his momentum back, after all?) Gino Montero's already in the midcard and rocketing forward - no shock there. I haven't actually brought in many folks - I signed a lot of undercard guys for job duties, with the intent of using decent job squad material to both train the upper card and pull the kind of ratings that will one day allow them to recover. Thus far it's working. To be honest, my problem's been halting some climbs; Jack Bruce, Jack Giedroyc, and Jack Avatar need to stay main event-midcard-midcard, or thereabouts, until Bruce finishes recreating the Tommy Rich/Buzz Sawyer war with Eric Eisen. Then they're going to fall into a pattern as three good buddies, often together, always affiliated, until October 2009 when I'm looking to sign 'Jack' de aske and cast him as the 'One-Eyed Jack' while using them as a face Four Horsemen. Trouble is, Avatar and Giedroyc are climbing too fast. On the other hand, the irregular jobs aren't yet hurting them...
Newly main-event-ready and putting on phenomenal matches is Brandon James
 lol He's still B- overness on my game and had around 5 C+ matches in a row until the Awesome Impact PPV, where a triple threat with Money and Enygma I think got a B. Story was the Financial Arrangement team of money and Brandon (who I'd planned to build a stable around but had HORRIBLE team chemistry) began to break down as Chase got Brandon involved in the title picture and she herself scored a position as referee, but somehow got bumped during the match leading to another official coming out...just as she recovered both brandon and money simultaneously pinned enygma and a dispute ensues over who the rightful champion is. Difficult to do the match via road agent notes but the feud over the next month should be good nonetheless, hopefully help Brandon improve and both men get over. :o

However, I'll probably end up sending down a worker or two who can really help develop them. Normally I would send Steve Flash, however, I want to possibly leave him on the main roster as "The Flash" and do a comic book hero kind of persona. (How the hell else was I meant to get his momentum back, after all?)
I planned on booking Brandon James into the main event but doing it on a slow scale. I was thinking of putting him into a bodyguard role for either the Eisen Alliance (Richard Eisen, Eric Eisen, and my avatar - Sean Eisen) or possibly teaming up with Rich Money in "Money Inc.". Either way, my plan was to have him shooting towards the main event by fall of 2008. I also got a goal that Eisen wants Enygma to a B+ in popularity in a little over a year. While normally I would be annoyed as I beat Enygma down pretty bad... This brings something new to my game and makes me have to find a way to actually like & push the guy. It seems like he had a little bit of a Goldberg push in the sense of having a long winning streak but now looks like he's a "welcome matt" for most people... So, He'll end up in my Main Event soon with the goal that was set.

I did the same gimmick with Steve Flash, except he was a comic book villian. Whippy the Clown was the comic book hero. Back on topic, I think Steve Flash serves you better training people unless hes actually gaining overness like mad in your game. Theres also a ton of Japanese/Mexican wrestlers you can sign to train people.
Brandon has been helped massively in my game by great chemistry with Emma. That and careful booking around him - he's due to play a key role in the Bruce-Eisen War* in not a particularly distant future, so I need him positioned well early - means that his average thus far for me is B-, with a number of key points. Acid and Lobster Warrior seem to be helping him improve surprisingly fast. * - Eric will cost Jack Bruce the title in a match against Brandon. Brandon will be facing Enygma and either Lobby or Angry Gilmore for the title, continuing to dispute with Acid over Emma Chase, for a while, then will feud with Christian Faith for a couple months after he returns from 'injury'. Faith should get Brandon positioned skill-wise to go even higher. My own goals require me to build Enygma and keep his momentum high while keeping Faith's momentum and popularity high. Chances are that Faith will get a fifth title reign reasonably soon, therefore...
Brandon has been helped massively in my game by great chemistry with Emma.
You lucky git :D On mine they're ok, but she's soon to be switching her allegiances. ;) Brandon will go solo (and grow his hair lol) and the faction I want to build around Money should come into fruition, just with Brandon against it not with it.

You can notice a huge difference in 5-6 months. Adam Matravers went from a B to an A in performance, and C+ in flying to a B+ Mainstream Hernandez went from an E in brawling to D+, a d- in tech to a c-, and C+ in performance to B. Granted that has a lot to do with the random destiny stats and their potential, which I imagine is random from game to game as well.

Does it Hurt to in anyway switch youre entire developmental roster from development company to developmant company as TCW i got Freedom, MAW and coastal zone as child promotions and I Switch my development roster to the one holding the next show in order for my development roster to get as many matches as possible.
The bulk of developmental improvement comes from their days training, not from the matches.
That's true (and more realistic that way). The matches are a good way to gauge how capable your guys are right now, though. (e.g. if two of them pull of a B match or better they should definitely be ready to return to the main roster). But there's not really any need to shift people around from one development territory to the other.

I was amazed. If you wanna see what happens with him though youll have to tune into SWF: The Dangerous Years (shameless plug i know ;) sorry)
Depends. Which of your territories has the best teachers? Or, for that matter, trains them in a product closest to the one you need?
Got em in MAW, Freedom and Coastal Zone. Have my own teachers in Steve Flash, Archie Judge, American Elemental and Hell Monkey and temoprarily Walter Morgan. For the wrestling part For the entertainment got: Nemesis, Katie Cameron, Playboy Jack Sawyer, Adrian Garcia. Plus Champagne Lover and Gino Montero as trainers till ready to push them. With those trainers it shouldnt be a problem i guess as shift them too. 2 other questions tough 1. Do the trainers train what they are best at or is at an averege of evrything? for example Walter morgan is great mat work and submissions but Flash is better at chain wrestling. Who do they learn what from as you cant assign teachers. American Elemental on the other hand isnt good technical so do they drag the teaching average down? 2. Sending them down to development to get into shape does this mean a focus on their physical skills and/or their Physical condition? planning on subbing hell monkey for pistol pete, and walter morgan for Jeremy Stone when they become available, possibly American Elemental for Niclas Lopez.
