Does anyone else here play as USPW? I find it hard to play in the Cornellverse but if I do play usually its with them. Thats the game I'm running now. I've signed a few guys and lost a few others to SWF, but I like the company because its very old school. Its kind hard to run a 90 minute show with them though. And I'm also still trying to get used to the characters....

I used USPW back in 07 for over a year. Gotta say, its a very fun fed to book once you figure everything out. The thing that seems important to me is relying heavily on your stars at the very start, atleast until you can build up your younger talent. Its gonna hurt your pride a bit to do it, but keep Peter Valentine strong. Thanks to his friendship with Sam Strong you're gonna be pretty much stuck with him. His in ring ability is the definition of bad, and his entertainment skills are passable at best (thankfully this is the one thing that old age typically doesn't have a negative effect on), so really decent overness is the only thing he has going for him. So instead of being stuck with him at no overness I'd say keep him strong and let him work on the microphone skills. I did this and after just a year of work his improved entertainment skills, overness (and shockingly, for me he improved in ring) were enough to not make me cringe at using him. Hell, he was useful. And all of this comes with the added benefit of keeping Sam happy. Come to think about it, if you get him over enough maybe he'll decide he's too big for USPW or get signed away eventually by SWF. Typically, I'd say get a GOOD manager for T-Rex and work the typical monster with a manager thing with him. T-Rex has amazing star quality, and in USPW thats enough. (During my first year that I keep mentioning I actually had Rex as champ, but with better talent around now that probably won't be needed). Watch Bruce the Giant's overness! He'll leave if he's too over, if memory serves correct. He's good enough to get back up when needed, so don't be worried to job him out so yo can keep him around. Alicia Strong is god. If you have to fire anyone, fire the Hillbillys. They're old and void of anything useful. You can easily find a new tag team out there to take their place if needed. SWF and TCW will steal people from you, and the only way to avoid it is if you get non-agression pacts with em. Unless you want the added challenge, I'd suggest doing that. Chris Caulfield and Darryl Devine are both worth protecting. FEEL THE FOOOOOOOOOOOORCE Storylines and awesome angles are your friends, and go hand in hand. When hiring people, remember to treat this place like WWF in the 80s, not like RoH. Talented inring workers are great, but your fans are gonna care about the people who are over and can get over. Gargantuan may not seem like a great prospect, but works well in USPW's environment. But do remember to keep people who know how to work a match around, as their inring ability is still invaluable and at the very least can help guys like Gargantuan and T-Rex learn how to actually put on a match.

Im playing a part time game as USPW I started a diary but it went nowhere once I started making a mod lol. I also played as them in 07 Bruce the Giant is the man LOL He left and joined WLW in my game :( but I built up enough workers to cover the lost. Always have him apart of your show his good to use in angles and match rating have been kind to me (nothing below C+) I find Peter Valentine useful to use to put over younger up and coming stars I never job him out or making him look weak but always loses the fued. I say dont go out and just hire talented wrestlers look with in the ranks. Nicky Champion is awesome, at the moment Im almost ready to give him a megapush in to the mainevent. I also find it fun to develop Eric the Bull he has become a very soild midcarder for me

I already got the guys stolen from me who you said to protect. LOL. Bruce the Giant and Pete Valentine are both parts of my owner goals. Don't let them fall under a B- in overness...lol Alicia Strong...I accidentally gave her the womens title in the first show, and WOW it was a good mistake. She's amazing. As far as the rest goes...like you already said...this is a wrestling company...but more based like the eighties style. Big guys with brawling tech...instead of technical wrestlers like most people have grown to love in this day in age. I'm thinking about just playing as a Mexican Promotion instead. Way easier to uphold!:)

I just finished my first month is the fed, and I'm finding out that the biggest problem is probably...MONEY. Was that your biggest problem with the same fed? Just wandering. I lost a bunch of money the first month, but I also signed some pretty decent names too. I mean nothing like Bruce or anything but probably paid out an extra 10 grand a month.

I can't stay away from the USPW. Definitely my favorite promotion in the default data. My advice: Start over (I know, not a great hint). Sign a non-aggression pact with the SWF and a working agreement with TCW. This will keep Devine and Caulfield on your roster. 90 minutes is a long time for their roster. It's worth seeing if Sam will let you change the match ratio, as Bruce and James Justice can get you good ratings on angles. Also, it's probably better to end your shows on angles instead of matches. Consider turning Bruce heel. A Bruce/Justice feud can be a big ratings and money earner for the USPW. edit: Also, sign a PPV deal right away. You'll lose money for awhile anyhow, but this might not be a big deal depending on your goals.

Also, reading more closely - all of Comradebot's suggestions are great. Another good idea is to read the dynasty section and see how others do the USPW. A couple of folks are doing USPW and have put out good cards.

I looked over at the diary section and WOW ...it really helps me put more of a personality to these guys once I read what someone else does. I might start up a diary soon. While it would probably be slow paced, I've done them in the past and they've turned out pretty well. If you want to check one out...hit me up. I might be able to find to the link. It's with REAL WORLD data though.

I'm not playing them but what I don't get is that, in my current campaign, they consistently put on horrible show after horrible show (punctuated by the occasional mediocre effort "C" rating) and somehow they still manage to maintain their cult status. I bust my hump to put on C/C+ monthly shows (with far lesser talent, mind you) and still can't crawl my way out of regional. Sheesh. Foxcutter.
