Cverse characters you "should" like but don't

Recommended Posts

Got the thread going to give the lovable lumps of the CVerse their respect. Now lets go the other direction. Who do you see in the data that would be generally deemed as talent but you just can't get into? For me one man comes to mind if you put this question to me. Darryl Devine. I don't deny he's got solid wrestling skills. Or that he can work the mic until he's blue in the face. Or even that the camera loves him. But the poor schmuck seems to be made out of porcelain. Despite all his skills that fragility gives me night horrors about putting him in the ring. Yet he's so skilled between the ropes, I feel cheap limiting him to personality work. He's too valuable to lose and too brittle to feel comfortable keeping. Whenever I go to play USPW, Devine drives me up the bloody wall. Do I let him get stolen out from under me and expose Caulfield to being lost as well? Or do I make the pacts to protect Caulfield and try to puzzle out Devine? The guy is such a dilemma for me.

I don't know about the "should" part, but mine probably is Skull DeBones/Vengeance. The guy seems to me (not the gimmick, off course) like a Batista kind of guy - big, overrated jerk that can't seem to do anything well. (This coming from a big Cena fan! :D)

The one guy I should like but always have troubles pushing is Steve Frehely. There doesn't seem to be really anything all that special about the guy, however, he's seen as being a "big time future player". He ends up wrestling in upper midcard feuds mostly... All in all, He strikes me like a SCSA kind of character is some ways so I might try to do that with him and see if it works out.

Jungle Jack. He is right up my alley on type of worker, big strong brawler, thats my main thing is I like guys who brawl, but I hire just about everyone. Jack though, Ive hired him before but I just never get behind him and push, he just drifts till I consider him dead weight and fire him.

What I meant was that I get the same feeling from Vengeance as I do form Batista. That is "OMG I'm so tired of this guy! Won't you please just push Mr. Kennedy instead!?" EDIT: I do like him better in 08 than in 07 though. But I'm still not loving the guy..

I would also add Rocky Golden to the list. I love me some Darryl Devine though...I book him like Shawn Michaels in the 90's

He kinda floated around being the fairly big name to bring in when another face presence was needed but his overness was through the roof (A* across america) so I put him in a short feud with Vengeance which he came out second best. Now once again I'm stuck for what to do, he still wrestles and appears a lot just with no real direction.

Dermot O'Logical. Everyone seems to love him but his gimmick is just...weird. This is the second time he's in my diary and I have resolved to give him a solid push because he's one of the more talented members of my roster, but I just don't know how to draw a character like that into a realistic storyline. That gimmick would work better on a bad sitcom or a good SNL skit (both about equal in comedic value...)

I have only played TCW so far and I Hate Giant Tana he cant put on a match worth more then a c+ at max and then only for 6 or 7 minutes. I try my hardest to job him out a lot and bury him but his high destiny keeps him popular grrrr. As I dont want him to remain popular because SWF would pick him up and make him a huge star with his destiny and entertainment stats I am kinda forced to keep him around and try my hardest to keep him happy and not higher then the midcard. Seriously thinking of injuring him for a long time on purpose. Any hints on how to do this? Charlie Thatcher (low safety + decent power) springs to my mind in House of Fun matches vs Giant Tana hehehehehehe.
He's really too old to justify pushing. Best thing to do with him is job him out to your potential stars. I've never been able to stand Troy Tornado.
For me two words come to mind as far as Troy Tornado is concerned. Benign neglect. I don't have it out for him like you do but he does seem to be the odd man out creatively speaking when I'm booking TCW. It's not that I have any problem with him like I do Devine. He just tends to get lost in the shuffle for me.
