Stennick
So I've decided to take on USPW because I look at them as a 94 WCW. They have potential to be great but their sort of stuck in the past with names like Hogan, Saveage, and all their friends. Same thing here with Sam Strong, Bruce the Giant, Valentine filtered in with guys like Nicky Champion, Des Davids, Darry Devine, and a few others. My problem has been I can't seem to get higher than a C show most of the time and still use any of my roster. Sure if I just use Bruce, Sam Strong, Alicia, Justice, Caulfield, and Valentine most of the time I can get a C+. My angles and promos are hitting A's, B's for the most part. However my matches are in the D's sometimes worse. What in the heck am I doing wrong, I've brought in a **** ton of "better" workers, some lucha guys like Velocidad, Ultimate Phoniex. Some cruisers guys like Black Eagle and American Elemental. On top of guys like Joey Poison, Remmy Skye, Mainstream, Champagne Lover and others. Long story short these guys don't have the popularity to matter and the guys that are popular are AWFUL workers. Do I need to just run in the lesser area's until I build up the popularity of my better workers or is there another strategy to employ?
sabataged
The lesser popular guys gain overness from losing to more popular workers. So I would just keep the matches short, no longer then 8 minutes, and keep one lesser over but more talented worker in a match with the more talented worker. Keep the angles/promo's coming and you should be okay.
Remianen
So long story short, you're asking how to create stars. Don't deny it, it's exactly what your post sums up to. ;) First, I'd suggest going back to the 07 diaries forum and reading J Silver's USPW diary. The exact same thing(s) he did there work in 08 (without exception). This isn't difficult. The very things that people groan over are the methods that work in USPW. For example, Alicia Strong is a rather comely woman, is she not? Champagne Lover is a rather handsome man, yes? And Hispanic men are stereotypically known for their tempers as well as their machismo, isn't that true? Put those together. It's a typical soap opera episode, which is exactly what works in USPW (as long as it's toned down and tame). You could bring in Maryam Vega or even better, Jennifer Heat, to play the Lover's ex out to make his life miserable. Heck, bring in J.Ro if you want someone for Alicia to meet in the ring. If a worker has rubbish for entertainment skills, here's a tip: don't use them in entertainment based angles. The help file touches on this for a minute but it's very simple: Bruce the Giant should only be in angles where he's rated on his overness. That's all, nothing else. So your lesser known workers cutting promos on Bruce would work very well as would them brawling with him. You put any worker in a steel cage match (i.e. Brawl based) with Chris Caulfield and they're going to profit from it. In short (too late!), book USPW like 80s-era WWF. They have Comedy in their product. USE IT! USPW is more like 80s WWF than early to mid 90s WCW. So come up with your own Kamala (complete with belly slapping) or George the Animal Steele (make an angle for the turnbuckle eating), even entertaining jobbers like The Red Rooster and the Blue Blazer can work. Bring in an INSPIRE worker to be a Dan Severn type ("The Beast"). Hell, the one time I tried playing TCW (it was beta, I had to :(), I brought in Champagne Lover, Mainstream, Phoenix, Nicolas Lopez, and Marcos Flores and created LAX to test out the stable and Freebird code. When El Fuerza and Gino debut, they got snatched up too, to cover for attrition. In about a year, I got Champagne Lover popular enough that Cornell didn't block a title change (Malice in Wonderland 2009). I figure it would be easier in USPW because in-ring skill isn't the primary thing workers are rated on there. Just think back to the Rock & Wrestling era and steal ideas from there. d_w_w
Everything that Remi said is spot on. Really, when dealing with the USPW, you just need to give yourself time. With the USPW's starting roster and product, it's pretty acceptable to put out C- and C cards when you start out. By the time someone like Devine or Davids or even Nicky is over enough to be an upper midcarder or main eventer, you'll be able to put on much better matches to go along with your highly rated angles. Stennick
I wasn't so much concerned with making stars since I've done a bang up job iwth Devine and Champion over the last five months. Although those are some things to build off of. I was more concerned thath the first six months of USPW and I've gotten a few B- shows and a bunch of C and C plus shows. Just making sure this was par for the course or if I was doing something wrong. Sounds like I'm spot on and I need to give it more time.
d_w_w
Yeah, I'd say you're doing fine. Better than I was a half-year in for my USPW game :p
shamelessposer
DO NOT job out Bruce The Giant. His popularity is basically the only thing he has going for him, and it allows him to put on passable USPW-style matches with just about anyone. Your up and comers will benefit far more from losing to him several times than beating him once.
Stennick
I can't job him out in my game if I wanted to since he can't drop below a B- in momentum or populariy. That being said he's pretty much the most popular star on the roster world wide and when I want to expand past the U.S he'll be the guy a lot of the shows rely on, so yeah Bruce has a job for a long time at the top of my cards. Also with James Justice not being young I want to give him the biggest, baddest, best title reign I can. I want to make this man the star of my shows, he can work and talk. Caulfield, Champion, Devine, Davids along with guys I've brought in like Mainstream, Champagne, Remmy, Joey Poison, Brandon Smith these and Kirk Jameson. Thats my future right there and now that I got all of those guys building on their popularity with guys like Anger and Redwood sitting around begging to be jobbed out at the end of their careers. Nightshadeex
You can't not use Giant Redwood! He should be the focal point of your shows!
