praguepride
I was looking at the list of Cverse feds that are set to open in the future and noticed that none of them have "probable founders" So here's another discussion for the boards. Given these feds and their product settings, who do you think is the most probable founder? All Canada Pro Wrestling - traditional wrestling British Professional Wrestling - sports entertainment with a large dose of comedy Canadian Women's Wrestling Federation - standard women's fed Championship Wrestling from Wigan - pure wrestling European League of Professional Fighters - realistic/hyper-realistic EXODUS 2010 - modern, high risk fed Japanese Championship Wrestling - traditional puro Mexican Hardcore Wrestling - the name says it all Phoenix Wrestling Company - hardcore East coast fed Pro Wrestling Max - fast paced explosive action Quebec Pro Wrestling - classic wrestling Queens of American Wrestling - American based Japanese style Women's competition TIER 1 - MMA/Hyper-realistic spinoff of ALPHA WINNOW: Japanese Women's Wrestling - Super Junior Women's fed Wrestling Alliance of Mexico - traditional Lucha Libre X-Wrestling America - traditional wrestling with a high focus on realism So here are a few of my predicitons: ACPW - Crippler Ray Kingman: seems like the obvious choice to run an old-school Canadian fed. EXODUS 2010 - Naoya Ashikaga: He used to be a lightweight worker, and his business tics have realism and modern checked off, seems like a good match PWC -Phil Vibert might be the best choice if he decides to give wrestling one more go QAW - Heidi Brooks: seems like her style, she's based in America and is one of the more influential female "free agents' in the game. QPW - Jason Rogers: although he and Crippler Kingman could be interchanged. XWA - Preston Holt is a businessman with a lot of money who values old-school wrestling... more to come... Oregano Jensen
Note that Kingman is based in the USA... he was popular in Canada, so it's not ridiculous that he would start a fed there, and he certainly does have the business acumen. But he is an American living in the USA. (Also entirely possible he would be retired from the business by the time ACPW starts up anyway.) I'd suggest Jon Jetson as a possible substitute for him or Rogers... more likely to be around when the promotions start up, better business acumen than Rogers. On the same "average worker who might give back to the business" note, Bob Casey. Ed Monton is also viable, though a better wrestler. Larry Wood is another option -- though of course he's seriously hardcore in his own ring work, he's got 72% business, and has a business preference for old-school promotions. Alysian Scottsfield is a similar case -- good worker, maybe not the right fit in terms of style. (Why is there no pending Canadian hardcore promotion?) Art Reed isn't great at business -- he's a better booker -- but he's another candidate. Similar: Bryan Holmes.
Jennie Bomb
Here's some, I've left space for the others since I don't have time to finish right now... All Canada Pro Wrestling - Steve Flash Steve Flash exemplifies what ACPW ae supposed to stand for - he's the definition of the technically good, old-school worker with qualifty fundamentals, a strong understanding of psychology and unerring consistency. Not only that, his default gimmicks are Old School Face and Old School Heel. He's got a preference for all four styles of wrestling and he just comes off as a guy who'll be involved in wrestlign until he dies, and if that's the case, he's too good a fit to not make him the likely owner of ACPW. British Professional Wrestling - Kevin Jones The former Shane Hannigans is the perfect guy to run a comedy promotion. He favours all kinds of promotion, has the background in playing a comic character and most importantly is someone from the UK who can actually own a promotion. Canadian Women's Wrestling Federation - Farrah Hesketh Considering the lengths she's gone to to stay in the business after her retirement, ownership of a promotion seems a natural progression for Farrah. She's skilled in a number of areas, favours all kinds of promotion which is useful for the all-rounder women's promotion and honestly, would make a very useful owner to have on a player controlled roster. :p Championship Wrestling from Wigan - Walter Morgan I wasn't going to include people who didn't have a reputation as an owner since I'm not sure they can take over promotions, but Walter Morgan fits too perfectly with the company to not use him. His bio makes a very clear reference to him training in Wigan, giving him a link to the company. His style is pretty much spot on for the company - he's very old-school and tehnically minded, plus he's got both old school and realism checked as preferred styles. It's a perfect fit, I think. European League of Professional Fighters - Luis Figo Manico The former UCR owner was widely known for being unable to settle on a style of wrestling he liked to promote. If he were to return to the business, I'd guess he'd want to start his own promotion again rather than work for somebody else, and an MMA inspired promotion would be entirely fitting as his newest fad, assuming the Cornellverse MMA scene has grown along the same lines as the real world MMA scene. EXODUS 2010 - Burning EXILE EXILE seems to favour the kind of style that EXODUS 2010 promotes (Entertainment, modern and realistic are checked in his Business profile in the editor. Plus, his hiring style favours potential, which works with the EXODUS bio that states they're all about developing workers. Finally, he's the kind of character who I envisage as being almost destined to open his own promotion - he's got a history of being fired from promotions for his behaviour, to the point where he's become a freelancer. It's easy to see the potential for him to basically become unemployable, and thus move to opening his own promotion. All in all, EXILE is the ideal person for this spot. Japanese Championship Wrestling - Eisaku Hoshino As a freelancer, he's got no allegience to any of the existing promotions, and is highly likely to be available. He's a quality wrestler who works the right style, has a high reputation as a booker and as a promoter, and checks the old school and realism preferences that would be necessary to form the promotion. He's a plausible owner with the right attriubtes, so he's a good pick. Mexican Hardcore Wrestling - Pablo Rodriguez As a DAVE alumnus, Pablo's a guy familiar with hardcore. His bio says he's gone home because he wants to help the Mexican wrestlign industry with his star power. Given that, it's possible that he could attempt to spark a revival of the industry by creating a promotion that blends the haredcore style of the promotion where he made his name in the States with the style of his homeland to create something unique. He's a potential owner in the databse, and the fact that he has all the preference boxes ticked means that he's suited to running this type of promotion. Given this, I think he's probably the ideal man for the job. Phoenix Wrestling Company - Larry Wood Given the fact that PWC seem destined to compete with PSW (being based in Philly, the natural enemy of Pittsburgh, doesn't help), I'd guess that it wouldn't be founded by any of the DaVE guys who'd get along with Mitch Naess and wouldn't aim to run shows that compete so directly. Thus, we come to Larry Wood. Larry's a hardcore guy through and through, with his psychopath style and association with WEXXV and his apparent mind for the business making him ideal for the role. Pro Wrestling Max - Fumihiro Ota Despite being Japanese, Ota is based in the States, so it would make sense for any promotion he founds to be based there. He's got a great business reputation, Modern and Realism are both set as preferred styles, and his bias towards athleticism as a hiring style match well witht he style. Also, his Japanese heritage meshes well with the apparent Japanese influence on the promotion's style. His cruiserweight style seems to fit the company, too. Plus, the vaguely Japanese name would work with his association. All in all, I think he's the best pick. Quebec Pro Wrestling - Ed Monton There were four main contenders here - Ed Monton, Jon Jetson, Bob Casey and Jason Roberts. But since QPW is based in Quebec, I cut out Casey and Jetson, due to neither of them speaking French. That left Monton and Roberts, and Monton has the skills and reputation. His preference for old school wrestling is a plus, as is the fact that he's currentlyrelying on good, solid basics to improve his matches. He's be pretty ideal for a Rip Chordesque role in Canada, helping develop the stars of the future from his old school territory style promotion. Queens of American Wrestling - Tamara McFly She may be based in Canada, but given the dearth of vaguely suitable American women (Heidi Brooks was closest, but her business preferences were all off), she's the top choice. The sister of the legendary Sean McFly works a technical style, which is about as close as you can get to the ideal for this type of promotion. She's got promoter potential, and her modern and realism preferences are checked, meaning she should do well with the product, especially if either the two women who I would have gone with had they had promoter rep rather than just booking rep (Suzanne Brazzle and Wanda Fish, btw) sign on as booker. Plus, if Adam fixes the fact that Lucy Stone-McFly has no relationship with her father or her aunt, then it'd be interesting to see where she'd land when she debuts. TIER 1 - Billy Russell Although he'd be a foreigner running a Japanese promotion, Russell's background in MMA and knowledge of professional wrestling combine make him the ideal person to run a professional wrestling division of ALPHA-1, given that his business preferences and wrestling style match the company, and the fact that there's a good chance he'd have worked with the corporation behind the company seals the deal. WINNOW: Japanese Women's Wrestling - Lioness Mushashibo Honestly, I'm confident that Romi Yamato is far more ideal, seeing as she's the only female worker in the database who can actually wrestle the Super Junior Style and has a lot of good attributes on the business side, but she doesn't even debut until 2012 and would be unlikely to become an owner so young (unless the promotion didn't debut until you were, like, 14 years into the game, when it wouldn't be a problem...). Lioness Mushashibo is the second choice. She wrestles a cruiserweight style that's close enough, and her busines spreferences for Modern and Realism seem to click with the promotion. Her bio states that she's one of the pioneers of high-flying women's wrestling in Japan, which would make this the kind of promotion she'd be likely to open and her status as a verteran adds to the likelihood that she's become a promoter. Wrestling Alliance of Mexico - Phoenix I Phoenix I's bio makes it clear that an ownership or booking role is pretty much a dead cert in his future. With his business preferences set as Old School and Entertainment, he fits the traditional lucha libre product of WAM, and given that he's held in high regard, is known as a godo judge of talent and is the creator of one of the most important franchise characters in Mexico, moving into promoting seems a natural step. X-Wrestling America - Pistol Pete Hall Considering the promotion's focus on old school realism, Pistol Pete's a good guy. He's old enough to have old school roots that'd mesh well with the promotion and he's got both that and realism checked as business preferences. Given that he made a return to the ring after being retired for 13 years suggests he's the kind of guy who'd open a promotion, and the fact that he's spending time with the traditional puro promotions in Japan during his comeback would explain why he'd run a promotion with a similarish approach.
