Eisen-verse
So, I have to get Enygma to a B+ popularity in the United States in the next year... however, his contract goes up in 39 days. Now I know that Richard Eisen may end up re-signing him just because they have a close relationship and I know the owner can intervene and re-sign people they want in the company. But... lets say I don't re-sign Enygma and Richard Eisen doesn't come in for the save... and we let him go. Will I fail that owners goal to get Enygma to a B+ if I release him before the owner goal is finished? I don't want to fail another goal (as I signed someone Eisen wasn't happy with to start with), however, if I can get out of having to push Enygma.. Then I'd be happy. :) Just thought i'd ask! NordVolf
Hmmm... I'm not sure what would happen from a game mechanics standpoint (I never am, but just have to clarify *wink*), but some interesting conjecture arrises. What if you let him go, and another promotion snaps him up, and he gets to B+ with them? Mission accomplished?! Does it specifically state that you have to get him there, or does it just state that "he has to get to B+ overness"? *evil, sly grin*
NordVolf
On a side note: I rather like the way Owner Goals have changed from '07 to '08. The fact you can do something anyway is similar to real life. Though you'll anger your boss, just like in real life too. But the owner goal is less a back-breaker that way. I tried an '08 game, as per demo. I signed no less than 4 workers or so that were well below my boss' minimum requirements. And I still have a job. Granted, Mrs. Stardust was pissed! I've never seen a redder face than what stares back at me from the Business screen below Anne's picture. Spit and sweat flying everywhere, too. But I still have a job. She finally overrode me and stopped me from hiring worker-below-qualifications #5. Which was too bad, because the first 4 were more of a test, and when I saw that 5th worker and really considered what I could do with her, I just had to have her... ... NOT. Mrs Stardust explained to me in no uncertain terms that I couldn't hire her. Sent me back to my office to pout over it, too. But I still have a job. Granted, the demo is only one month, and long-term it could get very thorny. But for that first month, I still have a job... *smirk*
Jaded
The owner goal will disappear. I don't THINK it will affect the owner's patience - the smiley face didn't change when this happened to me, but I guess if smiley faces are linked to percentages, there's a small possiblity that it dropped from 100% happy to 90% happy or something. But definitely no major hit.
Remianen
But... lets say I don't re-sign Enygma and Richard Eisen doesn't come in for the save... and we let him go.
Why bother speculating? He WILL come in for the save. Sam Strong ALWAYS re-signs Peter Valentine, or so it seems.
