Grey Dog Fight Team

Recommended Posts

The Grey Dog Fight Team is quickly becoming one of the most talked about Mixed Martial Arts training camps, known for its extensive cardio and endurance training, as well as their multiple-discipline training. While none of its members have yet to compete in a professional MMA match, that is soon to change as its team members have made the rounds and decimated the opposition on the amateur circuit. We will soon see if their skills will translate to success and fame on the next level. --------------------- Abraham "The Man" Raven is a Light Heavyweight from Poland with a strong background in wrestling which can sometimes result in some not-so aesthetically pleasing fights. But he has been working hard on developing his stand-up game, which has become surprisingly potent as of late. David "Dead Boy" Byrnwick is a muay thai practitioner born in the mecca of MMA, Las Vegas. The Middleweight clearly owns good stand-up technique, but has yet to fully develop his skills on the ground. David "MMA's Last Hope" Marriott certainly has a nickname to live up to, but the lanky Middleweight may be the best product out of the Grey Dog Fight Team at the moment. Possessing good all around skills, the 6'4" fighter from England is also sure to have height advantages over nearly all his opponents. Dublin "Sky's the Limit" Sky has another mouthful of a nickname, and certainly has limitless potential. The largest team member at Grey Dog, the Detroit native stands at 6'6" and fights at 255 pounds. Gabriel "Havok" Summers is a muay thai fighter out of Canada and will be looking to leave his mark in America and possibly even Japan. The Welterweight is obviously a strong striker, but is also has a strong defensive grappling game. James "The Phoenix" Gilroy is the only fighter at Grey Dog with a karate background, and as such he is a very methodical Lightweight. This unfortunately means sometimes his fights are a bit slow, much like the most famous karate fighter in MMA, Lyoto Machida, but if he can even come close to replicating Machida's success, he should have a long career ahead of him. James "The Cyborg" Sabat is somewhat of a rarity in America as a Sambo fighter. The Light Heavyweight from North Carolina predictably has a strong all-around game. JD "Buck" Bellows is a young Heavyweight ground-and-pounder from Indiana. One might expect Bellows to have a straight-has approach to his fights, but this is hardly the case as he possesses scary knock-out power. Jeff Nights is the eldest member of the Grey Dog Fight Team at age 24, and at 5'9" may be at a disadvantage fighting at Light Heavyweight. He's a bit reckless, throwing himself into dangerous situations in fights, but makes up for it with strong wrestling and ground-and-pound. Matt "Maverick" Raymer is a kick boxer out of Ontario, and fights at 195 pounds. Many have suggested a drop to Middleweight to maximize his chances at success, but thus far, Raymer has been getting wins in the Light Heavyweight division in the amateur ranks. Michael "The Silence Shooter" Kairuz stands at just 5'6" and weighs in at 165 pounds, and is consistently at a height disadvantage. Kairuz makes up for this though with sick athleticism and an excellent ground game. Nicholas "Clem-shot" Clements is a big heavyweight out of the midwest. As one might expect, he is a good wrestler and can use his 245 pound frame to out-muscle his opponents. Thomas "The Sniper" Salerno is another tall middleweight out of England, much like his teammate David Marriot. He also has a strong all-around skillset and should have much success at the professional level. Wanderlei "WarBred" Izirarry" was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and, predictably, has a muay thai background. An extremely good athlete, this Middleweight always brings plenty of excitement into the cage. --------------------- Feel free to role play if you want, there aren't any benefits or disadvantages to it, but it might make the thread a bit more lively.

A post on the website of James "The Cyborg" Sabat I would just like to introduce myself to all the MMA fans out there that know very little about me which sadly at the moment is most of you. I've trained in combat sambo since the age of 12 so I have a good deal of experience in Combat sports. I have been training MMA for the last couple of years now and I certainly hope a promotion out there somewhere will give me the chance to prove myself on a big stage. The GreyDog Fight Team are a fantastic bunch of guys to train with and they have helped my skills greatly ever since I joined them. My Sambo background has made the move to MMA a very smooth one for myself and I truely think that if a promoter out there somewhere will give me a chance that I will be able to perform very well. In the mean time I will be in the gym everyday improving all aspects of my game. I look forward to the day that myself and all my teammates get our chance.

Marriott Speaks Out "Yo this is David Marriott and i'd just like to say that i cannot wait for my Mixed Martial Arts debut and i've been waiting for this moment for quite some time. I've been training in MMA for quite some time now and i've won alot of amateur fights but now i'm kinda sick of being called an amateur when i should be a professional. I've got some of the best skills in my training camp; "The GreyDog Fight Team" who some of the guys there are helping me to progress my game but to be honestly frank some of them ain't up to my standard and they shouldn't even be here. There are a few Middleweights here who if i get the chance to face i will knock them out, choke them out, break their bones and shatter their dreams i'm just simply amazing I cannot wait to make my pro debut and smash peoples heads in because i am MMA's Last Hope and soon everyone will see just how F*cking great I am as i take the world of Mixed Martial Arts by storm."

Reporter: Hello, this is James Pooney, I'm here with the new addition to Grey Dog Fight Team - Abraham Raven. Abe, could you tell us what do you want to accomplish here? Abraham Raven: I came here for one reason, and one reason only. To be the best. To beat the best. To make history. To become a legend, a true warrior that ordinary people can look up to. JP: Well that is a lot of confidence from such a young man... AR: Pooney, damn that's a stupid name, I'm confident for a reason... I've trained my whole life to be an ultimate fighter. Now the time has come for me to deliver... JP: Deliver what? AR: Pain, bitch... [Raven shoves the reporter and goes in an unknown direction.] OOC: Sorry if there are any mistakes, English is not my primary language.
Saturday, Week 1, May 2008 MMA Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock has said he wants to continue to fight, and he will. The World's Most Dangerous Man has signed a contract with World Victory Road in Japan and has been linked to names such as Josh Barnett and Jeff Monson as his possible first opponent. Roger "El Matador" Huerta will be packing up and moving out to California as he has joined up with Chuck Liddell and John Hackleman at The Pit. EliteXC has signed what many insiders consider the best female fighter in America, in Tara LaRosa to beef up their women's division. This certainly has many fans hoping for a future match-up between LaRosa and EliteXC poster-girl Gina Carano.

Sunday, Week 1, May 2008 More big name signings were completed today. Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez will return to WEC. Many people may have forgotten that back in 2004, Melendez was actually the first ever WEC Lightweight champion before he vacated the title before making his first defense of it. It is expected that Melendez may indeed receive an immediate title shot against current champion Jamie Varner. WEC made another big signing, hoping to beef up their heavier divisions. EliteXC Middleweight champion "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler has inked a deal with WEC, but will still be available to fight for EliteXC and defend his title there. EliteXC has added a possible immediate contender to the previously mentioned Robbie Lawler's EliteXC Middleweight title, as Frank "Twinkle Toes" Trigg will look to return to fighting on a consistent basis. Former two-time UFC Heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has been locked up! The Maine-iac has signed an exclusive 6 fight deal with San Jose based organization Strikeforce. Strikeforce seems to be cornering the heavyweight market, as they have also signed the man whom many consider the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko! This is also an exclusive deal, and an encounter with Tim Sylvia could be in the future.

Tuesday, Week 2, May 2008 Directly after announcing their signing of Frank Trigg, EliteXC has revealed the main event of their next event, Anguished Screams. "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler will indeed be fighting Trigg with the EliteXC Middleweight Title on the line. For Dream's 3rd event, the first Lightweight champion will be determined in the main event between two foreigners. Eddie Alvarez Will take on Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen. WEC fighter Leonard "Bad Boy" Garcia, after dropping down to 145 pounds, will be making his return to the lightweight division, citing that he feels more comfortable fighting at 155 pounds. And despite their two huge signings, Strikeforce's next show will be headlined by a Heavyweight title fight... but not by who you might expect. Neither Tim Sylvia nor Fedor Emelianenko will be involved, as Alistair "Demolition Man" Overeem makes his first defense against one of the elder statesmen of mixed martial arts, former UFC Heavyweight champion Maurice Smith.
Apparently I can't just post quote boxes... so I have to type something...
Saturday, Week 2, May 2008 WEC 34 will be headlined by another title defense by the "California Kid" Urijah Faber. He'll be defending the WEC Featherweight Title against "Streetfight Bancho" Hiroyuki Takaya. Takaya though, lost his WEC debut to Leonard Garcia, Faber's dominance over the division may be showing with the lack of challengers. At UFC 84, we have perhaps one of the biggest fights of the decade, and certainly the year, as Randy "The Natural" Couture has apparently finally come to terms with UFC. The fight will be between Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira to determine the true UFC Heavyweight champion.

Tuesday, Week 3, May 2008 The first member of the Grey Dog Fight Team has been signed! Light Heavyweight Jeff Nights has signed a two fight deal with the International Fight League! We will certainly keep you up to date when he receives his first fight!

Sunday, Week 3, May 2008 Two more members of the Grey Dog Fight Team have signed professional fight contracts! Abraham "The Man" Raven will be heading across the Atlantic to Cage Rage with two initial fights. Also James "The Phoenix" Gilroy will be heading across the Pacific Ocean! He has also signed a two fight contract with the upstart DREAM promotion.

Monday, Week 4, May 2008 Strikeforce signed a number of young fighters today, including two more fighters out of the Grey Dog camp! David "Dead Boy" Byrnwick and Michael "The Silence Shooter" Kairuz both signed exclusive deals with Strikeforce with an undetermined amount of fights.

Tuesday, Week 4, May 2008 Matt "The Law" Lindland announced today that he will begin to fight at Light Heavyweight as opposed to Middleweight, citing that at his age, the cut is beginning to become to much and too draining before fights. Another Grey Dog Fight Team member will be heading to the land of the rising sun! Matt "Maverick" Raymer will be joining James Gilroy in DREAM with a 2 fight deal.

Sunday, Week 4, May 2008 Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez has been moving from camp to camp as of late, but the UFC Welterweight may have found a permanent home with current UFC Light Heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Juanito Ibarra in Big Bear. EliteXC has signed Grey Dog fighter Wanderlei "WarBred" Izirarry to an exclusive, 2 fight deal! We certainly look forward to what Izirarry can do in the 2nd largest MMA promotion in America. WEC has signed a young Grey Dog Fight Team member to another two fight contract. The lucky recipient this time is Light Heavyweight James "The Cyborg" Sabat!
More filler so I can post...

Interview With Thomas 'The Sniper' Salerno Interviewer: Hi how are you? TS: I'm great I'm in great shape and can't wait to get my first pro fight. Interviewer: So I'm here to talk to you about you being signed by the IFL recently. TS: Yeah this will be a big step in my career. Interviewer: So do you see yourself doing well? TS: I hope so. Seriously though if you don't think you are going to do well you don't belong in this sport or in any sport really as that belief in yourself if what pushes you it makes you believe you can be the best and it makes you give everything you've got to reach that goal. Interviewer: The IFL have had some finance trouble recently. How do you feel about that? TS: It shouldn't be to big of a problem. They wouldn't of hired me if they had no money so I'm pretty confident they will be around for a while. Interviewer: Do you see yourself winning any championship gold in the IFL? And if sowhat would be next for you? TS: Well ofcourse I think I can win the titlel. I won't win it straight away though. I will work on what I have to work on and then I will go for the gold. After that I will start to spread my wings and go to different promotions and one day I want to end up in the UFC fighting the best because one day I hope to be the best. Interviewer: Well that's all we've got time for so to wrap it up I would just like to thank you for your time and wish you good look in the IFL. TS: No problem and thankyou for your support.
