Recruiting for Army, Navy, Air Force

Recommended Posts

Hi, This question might be of interest only to me, but here goes... There was a discussion on this board a little while ago about recruiting, which, I think we would all agree, is largely regional in college football. The one exception, though, would be the military academies such as Army, Navy, and Air Force, which do not recruit players primarily from New York, Maryland, and Colorado respectively. Their players tend to come from all over the country. I would like to play one of the military academies, and I was wondering if 1) at this point, the game can take those peculiarities into account, and if not 2) whether you think the game ever could take them into account. The new screenshots look great, btw.
They also do not have scholarship limits, so it would be sweet to have a powerhouse Army team, where you can take in 30+ players each year :)
But you also should get little or no one with any kind of pro potential since they have to serve for 4 years in the military after graduation. I always thought that in any college game, recruiting for the military acadamies shouldn't even happen. You should just get a group of new enlistees every year, some will have some skill others won't. Any game that there is a powerhouse Army team is obviously flawed. You might pop up and have a good year or two but a losing record over the decade should be the norm. Since 1950 Army 264-299-15 with 4 bowl appearances, Navy 255-311-15 with 10 bowl appearances, Air Force 289-238-12 with 18 bowl appearances .... so even the best team is only winning at a .547 clip with 18 out of 49 bowl appearances. Now every now and then you should have a star pop up on your team but for the most part it should be 2 stars. Now they should be more disciplined and work harder than any other team in the country, learn plays quicker and so forth. But you shouldn't be able to go out and recruit 5 stars.
