Another pro wrestling simulator game

ok here is a link to another pro wrestling simulator game that i found on the net,TNM7.com Now before any of you start thinking I'm trying to get you away from tew I'm not,i just want to hear what you think of this game. Its a whole diff style compared to tew(plus it costs way more) and the one thing that really surprised me the most was that the WWE has not tried to shut them down yet?? I mean not only do you use the images of current WWE wrestlers but you also can download that wrestlers theme music to use when you are using that wrestler and also these wrestlers and there images are not created by people (mods) as add ons for the game but by the game makers themselves. Plus it look like it would take up a lot of space on yr hard drive. This is one game i found while looking for a pro wrestling simulator on the net before i found out about TEW. To me TEW is still the best pro wrestling simulator game around just wanted to see what anyone else has to say about this game. Oh and one more thing unlike TEW in this game you have to download what wrestlers you want to use in your game individually:( to me that kinda sucks the most

Old news. REALLY old news. TNM was my first foray into wrestling simulators and while it was fun a dozen years ago, it looks positively bush league now compared to TEW. Somebody else with a long wrestling sim history correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't the initial release of TNM 7 here come like eight years ago? That's a lifetime or two in computer terms.
It feels very dos-based and nostalgic and it's not completely a simulation of running wrestling companies as it is a sim of making matches. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TNM_(computer_game)
Sounds fairly boring to me. I like the detail and immersion that TEW can achieve.
i think its supposed to be really good for running E-feds.
Indeed. I've seen it used for that many times over the years. Solid program for what it does. But wrestling simulators are so far beyond this now as far as the game aspect goes.
... correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't the initial release of TNM 7 here come like eight years ago? It was cool, and I definately got my money worth. Great tool for E-fed users, especially. I always liked how it kept a win/loss record of your workers and you'd see unbooked outside interference in the results from time to time. But it lacks a 'game world', you run your promotion anyway you want with no competition as no other promotions exist and you do not have any budget restraints, pretty much the only obstacle to being a GM is workers quitting the company but that can be overrided by easter-eggs.

It always amazes me that when freeware wrestling sims are talked about, 5GWS is never mentioned. TMN though, i only tried a demo of and couldn't really get around everything, EWR was the first i played then i went through everything that was around at the time like PW, Zeus even some little ones that had never really been finished, but TEW was always a class above.

I enjoyed TNM at the time, as it gave text-based line-by-line play-by-play, and could at times be quite boring but sometimes got really dramatic. All my CAWs were in there, and you could create your own match environments and events, like if they're in room B there's a 5% chance this will happen and cause this much damage, it was cool. But again that was a long time ago and it hasn't updated at all. It was a match simulator rather than a booking simulator I'd say.

So, on the front page of the forum, I saw this as the top thread in this topic... there was a purple frowny-sad-face and the words 'Another pro wrestling...'. I was wondering who died this time... kinda glad it's just a thread about a years-and-years old pale version of EWR.

Whats that? Not heard of that one. Promotion wars was good for what it was and the guy who made it, Adam Jennings, was always friendly to me. But then i got a pleasant reply from every email i ever sent Adam Ryland too! There were a couple of sims that looked like they might end up being good but then died a death - Head2head wrestling springs to mind. Plus more recently a group called stone monkey software was working on something that never happened.

5GWS was a very buggy game when it first came out, it's very in depth, things like booking tours/venues etc, sorting merchandise out, having the options to book celebrities etc, it still does hold a couple bugs but not game threatening. The only thing that it has wrong with it is the editor, although te creator is making a version 2 with a more "TEW Style" editor, there is a new editor in development for v1 made by one of the other admins. I'd give you a link to the site/forum but i don't want to upset anyone here, if you want it, PM me or hit me up on msn if you've still got me on your contact list.

My P.O.S computers could never really handle TNM or any of the other sims back then. My first love was Promotion Wars. I played that game to death. I couldn't get EW to work right on my systems until EW 5000 or EW 9000, I don't remember which. But, even when it did work right, I was never enamored by it. EWD was the same way for me. OK, when it worked, but still not my first choice. Then EWR came out and I never looked at another sim again. I followed Adam to .400studios and then here to greydog and I still have copies of Total Extreme Warfare 2004 (though I need a new eLicense ID since I let a friend attempt to play my copy on his PC and now I can't play it myself) as well as Total Extreme Wrestling 2005, 2007, and 2008. I will continue to follow the TEW series--and I even tried the WMMA demo and the Fighting/Wrestling Spirit demos--but they weren't really my cup of tea. To me, TEW is the be-all-end-all to wrestling simulators and, while I will give other games a shot, I don't think anything will come close to TEW and the depth of game play and replayability this game has.

first post on my iPhone so apologies for any grammar weirdness PW was great back in the day - I even wrote a mod for it based on 95 real life that was fun to play. Head 2 head was the great White hope, right? PW/EWR with a very attractive interface. Shame it never went anywhere...
