Eisen-verse
I was wondering if anyone else has troubles with keeping their focus on their TEW games? Needing to step away from the game for a week or two just to possibly get a new angle on things? I'm coming to about the year mark of my SWF game and everything just doesnt seem as much fun as it should be. It's more of a chore than anything else so I'm guessing taking a break could be good. I've developed a lot of talent and don't want to start a new game (unless it's a real world mod... Which I've put some thought into as I've always played Cornellverse exclusively and maybe a real world mod would spark some interest again?) All in all, I was wondering if anyone else out there finds themselves needing to take breaks... and if so... How long do you normally do so? Does it help? Ironmike
Yeah if you are the top promotion and really killing it week in week out I find it can become boring, try to mix up your roster to keep things fresh or taking a break of a week or two then maybe you will have some new ideas and a new direction to take. If you really need to, play another game but i warn you no matter what it is it will pale in comparison to the awesomeness that is Total Extreme Wrestling! (unless its WMMA ;))
Gigas
Its just like any other game. There really is only so much you can do in TEW so getting sick/bored of it is natural.
Eisen-verse
I guess I've always just had troubles with TEW because I always come in with an idea of what I want to do. I go ahead and book months of shows and what not and creating feuds and then it always comes down to a point where I feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over again... Even if it isn't the same people or what not. Oh well. I'm going to take a break for awhile and maybe it will change up.
Sagitta
You can also purposely sabotage yourself for a challenge. Delete your TV show contracts, kill off your boss, have your top star defect to another promotion - there are all sorts of ways you could interject a bit of a twist into your promotion to give yourself something to overcome. I think I got to a point, however, where I have so many superstars that I don't know if the defect thing could work over well. I've come to a point where my roster is so huge and I have so many people that I want to push that it just becomes too much (even with two brands. hah)
Greg2511
I do find myself needing a break...i get easily distracted and interested in other things, for example recently Ive picked up guitar hero again and im trying to master hard (i know...i know) and yeah...so I find myself not playing and my diary and everything suffers because of it...but i get over it and come back...then go again
Thriller
I took quite a long break recently, now I'm back to it and have been playing as NOTBPW for over a year -- most likely my longest game since TEW 07. Good stuff.
mike b
Yea i get that way to some times(burned out). So when i find that happening ill take a break from the cornellverse or go n play the 91 mod I'm playing(waiting fr hall of immortals) or another game all together. But one thing i do know is no matter what i just cant pull myself away from these forums:D
Guest Bolton
Try a different C-Verse promotion. I normally play SWF, and when I got sick of it, I tried MAW (with the updated data) and I'm having the time of my life!
sabataged
I take time off in between games. It seems like if work/school gets the best of me and I dont get on TEW for a few days/week its hard for me to get back into that game. Usually why I end up starting so many games. Marcel Fromage
I find it depends on three things... 1) How far you think you've got with that promotion towards how far you can take them (e.g. I imagine playing a big company gets boring faster) 2) How much you're enjoying booking that particular product at a given time (e.g. if you can't think of good stories, your interest in your SE promotion game will wane) 3) Whether you're writing a diary I say number 3, because if you've got real people actually reading what's going on in your game and voicing opinions, it can make you keep going. Having in-game fake fans to please is one thing, but having actual people voice their thoughts and predict what's coming next is always a good motivator, I think. Then again, with work I often find that I don't get to play at all for maybe a week not of my own choosing, so those enforced gaps tend to keep it fresher for me too. dPro
I tend to get a little burned out right after I've booked The Supreme Challenge. Like right now :) Haven't played for two weeks now. I do open the game, though. To look at my roster, and to try and figure out what to do next.
