Good for Shamrock to get the match and the paycheck. The time is approaching when folks probably won't pay to see him fight and/or he won't be physically able to fight (/shrug, he might be there already)... so I say, good for him.
I will be lighting candles and performing santeria rituals in hopes that Ken beats Kimbo. That way we can get past the sideshow that is XC.
Totally agree with that...there is no way that Kimbo could hang with the guys in UFC or WEC.
If Ken can actually take him down, he will have Kimbo tapping.... I just don't know if he can survive long enough to take him down.
He will be lucky he don't get anything broke, and the ref is watching close enough to stop it before he get's seriously injured.
Totally agree with that...there is no way that Kimbo could hang with the guys in UFC or WEC.
.... They said there was no way he could hang where he's hanging either. I haven't seen anyone do anything that looked half as impressive as his "other" non-pro fights, and we all know what those were... Heck, I think the bouncer in the back yard gave him the best fight. I'm not saying he could or couldn't (hang with UFC/WEC guys), but I am saying I've heard this before, only worse. It's been not only wrong, but not even close. I will say this, there is no one that can hang with Kimbo in the XC...

People dish on Kimbo because he's working for a third-tier promotion whose existence currently relies solely on their TV deal. UFC is currently the top MMA promotion in the world last I checked. With that position comes having the top talent in the world. It's like people who said Reggie Bush wouldn't be able to do the things he did in college in the NFL. That seems to be true, idnit? The same goes for Kimbo. He's a big fish in a small pond right now. Put him in an ocean where he's one of many big fishes and see how he comes out. You can't be the best until you beat the best. He's a media phenomenon right now but he hasn't proven anything because he hasn't beaten the best (yet). If XC was smart, they'd give Tito Ortiz the $1 million he's demanding for one match just to "make" Kimbo. But they'd have to be damn sure Kimbo can beat Tito to do it.

Chris, you hit the nail on the head. No one can hang with Kimbo in XC...but that isn't saying much. Compare the two fights Brock has been given to the the two that Kimbo has been given. Completely different caliber fighters. Kimbo was given Tank Abbott who is still living off the KO 10 years ago, and hasn't won in I don't know how long. A The Collossus (cauliflower ear guy) who was probably only fed to Kimbo because Butterbean had beat him handily (so they thought Kimbo would be even more impressive).

Not sure if that was a debate or not. If so, I guess you might be debating that I suggest we don't know if Kimbo can hold his own in "real" MMA or not. I'm only suggesting not to sell him short till we have that opportunity to find out.
Chris, you hit the nail on the head. That ear looked terrible. What I liked about his "Yard" fights, is no matter what the other guys did, he never resorted to "dirty" fighting. Most of the time he looked really impressive and really didn't break many rules (if any) that an MMA ring would have. There were definately some Boxing rules broke, but in all honesty, it looked to me like he has a whole new arsenal after going "Pro". Lots of things he does in MMA that he didn't do before. That's where I dissagree with Remi I guess. He seemed to try and go out of his way not to hurt someone in the "Amateur" street fights he was doing. That part is definately NOT a huge concern of his in the MMA world, that's why I am worried about this fight. I don't want to see any legends going out in a bad way, just because it's a "Money" fight.
