Cornellverse 2005 Mod

Recommended Posts

I wanted to keep this a secret in case I don't finish it, but I decided to make it public knowledge in the hopes of getting some help. I am working with my copy of TEW05 and my copy of TEW08 side by side to make a mod based on TEW05 Cornellverse. Why do it side by side and not a straight conversion? I feel that since 08 added personality and substance abuse issues, it would be easier to turn the 08 Cornellverse, that already has this information established, into the 2005 world instead of converting the 05 data and having to manually do everything. What I am doing is that I keep both games open at the same time and switch between them to make adjustments to stats, contracts and so on. Also I plan on expanding upon the original 05 data to add SOME wrestling in Australia, since APW does not open until 2007 or so. So the Melbourne Wrestling Federation and the other smaller feds that eventually became APW will be added as part of this Cornellverse. However I need some help with a couple of things. First, I need if some of the good graphic makers here could possibly convert the logos from 05 (or make new ones) for the promotions that are not in the 08 Cornellverse (like DAVE and UCR) so that they look on par with the 08 ones and not stretched, like what would happen if I simply placed the 05 logos in the pictures folder. Also, if someone could make me logos for the smaller Australian promotions that will be added. Second, if someone has already ran a straight conversion game and can tell me how do 05 stats fare in the 08 game. I ask this because I have noticed that wrestlers seem to have much higher stats in 08 than they did in 05 and maybe it is because the game engine has changed and better stats are needed for similar results. I plan to test this thoroughly before I release it for public use, but having this bit of knowledge beforehand could help me a bit. That's it for now, but stay tuned for more on this mod. I have been working for around three days on my free time and I do not have a specific timeframe in mind for when I will finish it, but I am hoping to be done by late September, depending on my work/study schedule. So what's different in 2005? For starters, several promotions have not opened yet: Babes of Sin City, INSPIRE, Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling, FREEDOM, Rhode Island Pro Wrestling, Australian Pro Wrestling, Ultimate European Wrestling and European Wrestling All-Stars. Dangerous Alliance Violence in Extreme and Ultimate Combat Ring are still in business. The rosters for your favorite promotions are VERY different. Update coming soon.

I am working on every promotion by alphabetical order. Therefore, here is my first completed promotion: 21CW The difference between 21CW in 2005 and the current day one is amazing. This is before the Jeff Nova takeover, back when the promotion was owned by Travis Baker and was pushing a cutting edge product. They are a small company with a roster composed of young talents. 21CW 2005 Size: Small Product: Cutting Edge Reputation: 10% Size: Small Arson Wells (still wrestles occasionally) Aurora (valet) Brilliant White Danny Patterson Davey Celtic Davey London Genocide Agent Johnny Highspot Kevin Jordan (announcer) Merle O'Curle Nick Adams Pit Bull Brown Rave Red Dragon Rod "The God" Todd (Jonathan Faust) Stardust (Stardust Phil Cox) Suicide Agent Thunderbolt Travis Cool (Luke Cool) Tyler Baker (owner) Ultra Fly

I am mid-way through 5 Star Supreme Wrestling, which is taking a bit of time due to my lack of knowledge about the Japanese C-Verse. However, after running a test game with 21CW, I realized that the game seems to run better with the 2008 stats. I am still making adjustments to them and let's see how it turns out at the end.

Ok, 5SSW is done and I am half-way through DAVE (screw the alphabet!). Some changes that I have deemed necessary: First of all, most US workers had very little overness in Puerto Rico in TEW 05. This does not work well with 08, so I have increased that overness value for the mod. What I mean is, even national stars had overness of 20% or so in the 05 data and this is not realistic, which is why they where fixed in 08. Therefore, I have decided to ignore their 05 overness in PR and add my own for the mod. It is still lower than in most other places (unless you are Puerto Rican Power :D ) but not as dramatic as such. For example, workers with around 55% overness in other areas of the USA have 45% in Puerto Rico and so on. So lower, but not dramatically so. The same applies for Hawaii, which was not an actual region in 05. Finally, feel free to suggest product settings for DAVE and UCR, since the system of establishing a product is so different from 05 to 08. I have already added DAVE and will soon post the product settings I gave it, but will change it based on suggestions and popular demand.

The DAVE roster is complete and I had forgotten how good it was and how someone with clever booking could really go far with them. I also spent the afternoon doing some easy stuff, like setting potential founders for the promotions from 08 that are not in 05 and cleaning up a bit on the title histories. I expect to do another promotion in full tomorrow. The release date for this is still very late September.

Just stopping by for an update: ROF, MAW and NYCW are done. I spent several hours today, too many really, to get them done. I did this because it is very unlikely that I can do any work tomorrow due to having classes in the morning and a double shift at work in the afternoon/night. Back in 05 NYCW still had a duo of hot prospects in American Buffalo and Joey Minnesota. Also Travis Century was there with his evil preacher gimmick and you can also count on your favorite NYCW guys like Steve Flash, Whistler, Grandmaster Phunk and so on. Over in MAW, this was their actual beginning, with The Mean Machine (Mean Jean Cattley) as champion, the duo of Natural Storm (D.C. Rayne and Eddie Howard) spearheading a great tag division that also features The Canadian Blondes (Oscar Golden and Flash Savage), The Rock City Stars (Stan "The Man' Manna and Rockin' Ryan Turner) Call to Action (Mainstream Hernandez & Erik Strong) and The Gods of Thunder (Atlas and Titan) among others. Meanwhile, ROF has just been taken over by British Samurai and features some of the best members of the 08 roster (Merle O'Curle, UK Dragon, Walter Morgan, Petey Barnes, The Shooters) with some hot young talents (Jay B. and Adam Matrevers come to mind). And of course, Chuck Frisby. Also they still had top dogs Rolling Johnny Stones and Steve Stout. Ahhh, the days before Jeff Nova's 21CW takeover...those where the days!

Oh ****, I have yet to done the "hype" for this mod :>. I am looking forward to this as 2008 is my first TEW and 2nd, because then, things were different. Oh, I wanna try Ring Of Fire and 21 Century Wrestling with their different product etc. But bla bla bla Curle is in 21CW :( As he fits in perfectly for the 2008 Ring Of Fire. But anyways, looking forward to this very much!

Actually I have yet to touch the wrestlers that are not part of any of the promotions I have done. My idea is to finish all the promotions rosters first, then add the Australian promotions which require some work since I need to check all the Australian wrestler's bios and determine where to place them and even if I need to move the debut dates of some forward so that they can have an actual roster. Remember, in TEW05 Australia did not exist in the gameworld, so this is a bit complicated, especially since we do not even have any clear idea of the product of the smaller promotions. I think that I will send a PM to Adam at some point (once I am done with everything else) and ask him about it or even if he has plans to talk about them in the Cornellverse website or something before I make a move. Once every promotion is done I will separate the remaining workers in two categories: Free agents and the ones yet to debut and modify their stats, bios and stuff accordingly. I do not have plans on adding any extras to the promotions since my idea is to have a mod as close and loyal to the original 05 'verse as possible. Although I have to admit that I have been toying with the idea of filling in some holes in the promotions, but I guess that's the fun the players will find. Maybe I will release a separate "modified" version of this mod (if that even makes sense). I was even toying with the idea of adding the backyard promotion Xtreme Danger Wrestling (with the five original wrestlers and maybe a couple of my own doing) but I guess that's something to think about when I am done with everything else.

Just a little update: MOSC and CZCW are done. The last three days have been hell in Puerto Rico with plenty or rain and wind due to the leftovers from all the tropical systems that have come close to hitting the island. I had no electricity for 36 hours and I had to skip college and work for two days because of the floods. Which would have been an awesome time to work on the mod, if I have had electricity!!! Also my street is really messed up, with the flood most of the pavement was broken apart and in some places we have holes two feet deep, so people coming and going in cars have to take it real slow and dodge all the holes, at least until the government gets it fixed. Anyways, back to work for me.

Just giving you a little update to let you know that this is NOT dead. I am committed to finishing the mod even if it takes me longer than expected and it seems that's what will happen. I am taking three big classes in college this year and I am starting to get swamped by schoolwork and in addition to my job, well, that sucks. So progress in the mod has slowed to a crawl, I finished USPW last night after working for bits of time on it all week long. I am hoping to finish at least two smaller promotions (4C and AAA likely) before the weekend is over, but like I said, once Monday comes around, things slow down dramatically.
He's been off frolicking in the WMMA2 forum if you're after him. He may not even check this anymore - PM?
Sounds like a brilliant plan. I just saw that in 2005 (using the demo), UCR had three stables: One of which is a team of superheroes, and the other of supervillians. This, I cannot sit back and have me never book!
