aznblusuazn
ATTENTION Okay, here is the beta for you guys. I'm not making a separate thread for it yet, because I want you guys to check it out first: Data File: http://rapidshare.com/files/144444244/DOWWE-2008.zip.html Picture File: http://rapidshare.com/files/144149849/DOWWE-2008-Pics.zip.html I know Rapidshare sucks, but until the release version, I want to hold off on submitting it to bobinc. It is important to use the Picture Pack attached, as the data files are specifically linked to that Picture Pack. Please leave feedback/suggestions, etc. Thanks. ********************************** **********Death of WWE 2008********** *************Version 2.0************* ****TEW 2008 Scenario: By Geoff Clark**** *********************************** Expected Released Date: Monday, September 15, 2008 The Original Concept From TEW2007: Death Of WWE 2008 for TEW2007 thread *Credits* The data on this scenario is based from the "T-Zone 2007" original data by John Marley and the DOWWE-2008 data from TEW 2007 converted to TEW 2008 format. The base data is being used by permission from John Marley and all of the help to build that mod. The original concept for this scenario was designed for TEW 2005 by me in the "Death of WWE" that was released in the Grey Dog Software forums. This is a modified version of the scenario, based from an alternate reality of the Benoit tragedy of 2007. This scenario, no way, is meant to disrespect the Benoit, Dauss, or Guerrero families, nor is it meant to disrespect any of the personalities that may have alternate paths of reality in this scenario. This scenario is also, in no way, meant to used to gain profit or any type of revenue, as it is just for recreational purposes. Any questions or comments, e-mail me at aznblusuazn@gmail.com. Thanks and enjoy! With all that said, on to the backstory... *Backstory* June 23, 2007 - Chris Benoit no-shows a WWE live event in Beaumont, Texas. June 24, 2007 - WWE Vengenance takes place, with Chris Benoit also no-showing his scheduled ECW Title match against CM Punk. Johnny Nitro is slotted in to fill his place, which he does and wins the ECW Title. During the event, several WWE officials and friends of Benoit in WWE receive strange text messages. June 25, 2007 - Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit are found deceased at their Georgia home. The scheduled three-hour RAW airs a Chris Benoit tribute, titled "RAW is CHRIS". July/August 2007 - Thoughout the next month, it is revealed that Benoit murdered his wife and son before ending his own life. Several bitter former WWE personalities appear on national news channels, lobbying for the federal government to get involved and regulate the business. During this time, former ECW wrestler John Kronus and former WWE/WCW wrestler Bryan Adams both pass away, giving the media more reason to run wild with the topic. September 2007 - The wrestling industry as a whole begins to suffer as many fans begin to alienate themselves from the business. WWE is hit with popularity drop after a series of doctors that are busted for steroid distribution, naming several of WWE's top names. Due to the inability to produce the proper paperwork and inconsistancies with the Wellness Policy, the federal government hits WWE with a multi-million dollar fine that is widely publicized. WWE is forced to make some massive cutbacks, including pulling its developmental deals with OVW and FCW. FCW closes while OVW owner Danny Davis is able to keep OVW alive. Antonio Inoki moves to the United States to meet with the remaining NWA board members about merging into one touring promotion. October 2007 - While WWE begins a dark era of the business, TNA's popularity seems to be growing, as many of the now-anti-WWE fans have turned to TNA. Spike! TV announces that TNA has a two-hour slot on Monday night, in an attempt to capture disgruntaled WWE fans, and is successful, with a series of 2.5 ratings. There are rumors that WWE will go out of business by the end of 2007, but Linda McMahon reassures the public that these rumors are false. Meanwhile, ROH is gaining momentum with their quarterly Pay-Per-Views. In other entertainment news, Paul Heyman hits a gold mine when his screenplay of "Zodiac Zombies" is picked up and is set to star, ironically, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. November 2007 - WWE, in an attempt to cut away loses, puts the WCW, ECW, and AWA trademarks up for sell. WWE Survivor Series 2007 saw the main event of WWE Heavyweight Champion Triple H defeat WWE World Heavyweight Champion Batista and ECW Heavyweight Champion CM Punk in a unificiation match for all of the titles. WWE then drops the World Heavyweight, United States, Cruiserweight, and Smackdown! Tag Team titles, due to possible copyright issues with the WCW name down the line. The ECW brand is dropped as a whole. Wrestling purist go wild of the idea that Triple H is the last ECW Champion. December 2007 - Despite the cutbacks, WWE is still bleeding money and cuts even more of their roster. WWE also drops the Smackdown! brand as UPN announces that they have killed the timeslot. WWE also drops the women's division. Down to pretty much the main draws of the company, WWE struggles as they are continously buried by the media. Meanwhile, Eric Bischoff purchases the WCW rights and trademarks with two wealthly investors, Hulk Hogan and Paul Wight. Bischoff also announces that he has hired Jody Hamilton to head up a development territory called Georgia Championship Wrestling in Georgia with head trainer Booker T. Paul Heyman uses the revenue from his successful screenplay to purchase the ECW rights and trademarks with some help from Tommy Dreamer and Rob Van Dam. The AWA is purchased by Greg Gagne and two unlikely business partners in Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Hart. Antonio Inoki closes the deal with the NWA, along with Dusty Rhodes and his family, open the NWA promotion that will tour across the country. Steve Austin announces that he, along with Michael Hayes and Tully Blanchard have purchased the WCCW rights and trademarks and will start promoting tours of Texas soon. Jerry Jarrett and Tom Pritchard successfully purchase the USWA name and trademarks. January 2008 - It seems that the Death of WWE is intiment. TNA announces that Jim Cornette will be in charge of the first developmental territory for TNA, the revived Smoky Mountain Wrestling. The revival of ECW, WCW, NWA, AWA, and WCCW has sparked some interest amongst alienated fans from the Attitude Era, but is it possible to bring the business back out of the decline? *Objectives* WWE - This is obviously one of the harder routes. You have one TV show, RAW, that is on the brink of extinction, as the USA network is not happy with the massive decline in ratings. You have talent that is over but the audience is not there. Also, your funds are in the negative and you have six months to bring it out of the red before the banks close on you. Your mission, bring WWE back and reclaim the title of being the "World's Leader in Sports Entertainment". TNA - Growing in popularity, playing as TNA is fairly easy. You have the talent, you have a great timeslot, and you have the momentum. All you have to do is take that number one spot and once you have gained National popularity, it should be pretty easy to maintain it. WCW - You start with two of the world's most popular wrestlers, Hulk Hogan and Paul Wight as your base roster, both under 6 year deals, as well as Eric Bischoff. You have International status, PPV deals, and a developmental territory in GCW. ECW - You start with Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer under 6 year deals with Paul Heyman, with PPV deals. Bring back the real ECW to help fans forget about the abomination that was WWECW. Anyone else - enjoy! :)
aznblusuazn
Update So far I have converted the old TEW 2007 version (1.2) of the data to TEW 2008 format. I have went through and tweaked all the promotions to ensure the product type and popularity are correct, tweaked TV Networks, Shows, and Slots, tweaked PPV Carriers and Deals, checked over Matches and Injury Types, ensured that every promotion has a logo (many of the 'future promotions have generic logos with black background and the initials), ensured that every promotion has a generic banner (black background with full promotion name), and now I'm working on the workers... Anyone who has ever looked at a T-Zone based database from TEW 2007 knows that there are over 3,000+ workers. What I will be doing is going through the workers that I recognize and tweaking race/nationality/Austrailia popularity, and then checking the bio and contracts for that worker, then adding alter egos that the worker might use (I'm not adding alter egos that a worker may have only used once or twice---i.e. Al Snow as Shinobi---but rather alter egos a worker could potentially use---i.e. Nelson Frazier as Mabel, Viscera, or Big Daddy V. I will not be checking every worker. For me to do that, I think the release date would be like next year or so, assuming that I can maintain the patience to do that. So once again, if a worker's name is one that I recognize (i.e. has worked on a national level in the last 15 years or so and/or is constantly talked about within the circle of wrestling media I read) then he/she will be checked for accuracy. So if Joe Jobber that is an indy worker doesn't have the correct nationality or something of that minor nature, it is more than likely I skipped that worker. I probably won't be editting the skills/popularity of the workers. I didn't have any complaints from the TEW 2007 version. If you think Worker X's overness is too high... lower it. If you think Worker Y's should have a high XYZ skill, increase it. I'm doing this mod because I got a lot of good feedback for my DOWWE 2005 for TEW 2005 and DOWWE 2008 for TEW 2007 and I thought I would give it another try for the TEW 2008 game. I am doing this for fun and basically for my own enjoyment to play, I'm just sharing the mod once it's complete with everyone else. So stay tuned and I'm open for any suggestions from those of you who played the TEW 2007 version... Enjoy. :)

Well I have had the DOWWE series going since TEW2005, so I figured I'd keep it going. I have been working hard to make this a fun playable mod; although the threat of Hanna and Ike have kind of stalled things today (I live on the east coast of South Carolina). Hope these storms don't do anything crazy. ;) Anyway still shooting for a September 15th release date.

aznblusuazn
Just an update.... I have made a lot of progress today; I've made it to the E's in the workers. aznblusuazn
Update - Finished Workers Through I. Looks like things are going well. I have decided to have the workers listed by their 'real name' and have alter egos for their worked names. I know this might be unpopular with some players, but I wanted to take advantage of the alter ego feature the way it's supposed to be used. Anyway, going to take a break. Waiting around for Hanna... hopefully I won't see it. :) Peace everyone.
Not being a hater, but that's not the way its meant to be used. Look in the default database - Nemesis isn't called 'John Campbell', he's called Nemesis. The alter egos list is for the lesser used alternate names (or for the same name with a different picture), not the primary gimmick. Using real names just makes the mod more confusing for the player. I mainly used the 'real names' for works that WWE would probably tell can't use the gimmick name outside their promotion, i.e. Mark Callaway/The Undertaker or Glen Jacobs/Kane. People like Chris Jericho or Shawn Michaels that had their name before WWE are left in the database that way. Update I got through the J's... geez there are a lot of those. I also did U-Z, which was fairly easy. All that's left is K-T, which is actually the bulk of the workers. Going to take a break now for a while. Good news that Hanna didn't do any damage. Anyway, will try to finish more later tonight after the kids are asleep. I hope to have all the workers that I'm going to edit done by mid-week then do the Hall Of Immortals, mainly based on the WWE Hall Of Fame (as of March 2007, since the mod start January 2008). Then after that, I will run some testing myself to see if I'm satisfied with the mod before I release it. So the Sept 15th date is still the projected date. Stay Tuned! :)

aznblusuazn
Update Okay, I've finished all the workers that I was going to work on, I actually put in a bunch of HOI guys in based on WWE, WCW, NWA, and other Hall Of Fames that I found on Wiki (2007 and back, 2008 is not included, i.e. Ric Flair). Now I'm testing the data and looking for problems. Release will be soon... :)

aznblusuazn
Last Update For Today... I have added a bunch of HOI 'Future Inductees'. Basically, if the worker's overness was B- or above and had obtained 'International Super/Superstar' status, I considered them an 'Icon'. There were only three or so guys under C+ overness that I put in there I believe, but there were former WCW champions. I found a couple of loose ends I cleaned up. I have to let everyone know this now. You have to have patience when running this mod. The load time, especially in the first two month or so are pretty long compared to the Cornellverse. On the PC I have at work, which is a Intel Dual Core 3.0 ghz with 2 GB of RAM, Cornellverse is usually about 30 second to a minute between days. DOWWE is about 2 to 4 minutes between days... at least so far. I am sure this is because (A) there are about 4000 workers in the mod, (B) there are about 5 or so promotions that start with empty rosters so they are constantly looking for new signings, but I'm thinking most of those signings are being snatched up by WWE, WCW, and ROH (3 of the 4 on the national stage). I'm about to do an overnight sim of 1 year to see a couple of things. (1) To see how the AI works with the head bookers and the product settings. (2) See if the day-to-day processing time reduces. (3) Of the workers that retire/become deceased, do they enter the HOI? (4) See if I'm pleased after a year of simulation that things seem as if they would be in my mind, and there is no craziness, i.e. Mike Barton becomes WWE Champion or XYZ Jobber is the #1 worker in the World. Anyway, I'm about to leave work. Been here for almost 12 hours, spent about 6 or 7 of hour on TEW2008... and got paid for it. Salary is great! :) Peace everyone. Wrestling Deaths Hector Garza (January 2008), Sean Waltman (X-Pac) (September 2008), Lex Luger (October 2008), Mae Young (October 2008). Other Notes/Analysis #1 Promotion: World Wrestling Entertainment WWE Heavyweight Title Triple H was the champion when the mod started, having won the belt in October 2007 and would be successful in his sixth title reign with the belt for the majority of the year until he was defeated by... Shane McMahon in September 2008, Live On RAW! Shane would go on to defend the belt for the rest of the year successfully. WWE Intercontinental Title Ken Kennedy was the champion when the mod started, having won the belt in October 2007. He would lost it at Wrestlemania 24 to Edge. Edge would be upset by newcomer Crazy Rudy in July 2008. Rudy's reign would be short lived as he would lose to Jeff Hardy. Hardy would defend the belt until October 2008 when he would be defeated by Rene Dupree. Dupree would manage to hold on to the belt for the rest of the year. WWE World Tag Team Paul London & Brian Kendrick, the Hooliganz, started the mod with the belts, having won the unification match at Survivor Series 2007. There reign wasn't very long as they were defeated on RAW by the team of ... The Great Khali and the 'new' Kane (Kevin Fertig). This train wreck of a team would keep the belts the entire year with six defenses. WWE Royal Rumble Winner (Simulated via 'January Tournament) Won by John Cena WWE King Of The Ring Edge would win his second KOTR title by defeating Ron Simmons, Shane McMahon, and The Great Khali in one night to capture the crown. Other Notes About WWE WWE really struggled initially, losing a good deal of overness in the U.S., but what saved them was the fact that they gained overness in other parts of the world, eventually allowing them to reach Global status again. They started with -$5mil and ended the year with $8.3mil, so I would say that Stephanie McMahon-Levesque did a great job as head booker this year. Notable feuds were John Cena/Shane McMahon & Edge/Triple H. #2 Promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling TNA World Heavyweight Title Kurt Angle started the mod as TNA World Heavyweight champ and would defend the belt until July 2008 where he was defeated by Brock Lesnar. Lesnar would carry the belt until November 2008 when he would be defeated by Christian Cage, who would go out to hold the belt for the rest of the year. TNA X Division Title Kurt Angle would start the mod as the champ, only to lose to Petey Williams in June 2008. That reign would be short lived as Petey would be defeated by Chris Harris in July 2008. Harris would be defeated by ... Junior Fatu (Rikishi) in October 2008. Fatu has held the belt since... Good job, Russo. (LOL). TNA World Tag Team Kurt Angle & Sting would start the mod as champions. They would hold on to the belts for the majority of the year, only to be defeated by Alex Shelley & Sonjay Dutt in September 2008. There reign would only be a month long, as they were defeated by Shark Boy & Eric Young, who have remained champs since. TNA Women's Title Gail Kim would start the mod as champion. She would be defeated by Beth Phoenix in April 2008. In June 2008, Daizee Haze would defeat Phoenix. Haze would then drop the belt to Lacey in September 2008. Lacey would almost finish the year as champ, until the last card of the year be defeated by Rebecca Bayless. Other Notes About TNA WWE may be #1 in the World, but TNA is #1 in the U.S. TNA sacrificed their core fanbase ('A' in the South East) to be more accepted worldwide (B+ in U.S., B in Canada, B in Mexico, C- in UK, D+ in Eupore, and E- in Austraila). Apparently the Japanese fans have rejected the TNA product as they dropped from E- average (from start) to a F average (at the end). Notable feuds were Kurt Angle/Randy Savage, Bob Sapp/Brock Lesnar, Christian Cage... and Kip James? Also to note, TNA had a huge number of A & A* cards, mainly thanks to A* performances of Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, and Bob Sapp. #3 Promotion World Championship Wrestling WCW World Heavyweight Title With Eric Bischoff as Owner & Hulk Hogan as Head Booker, you would expect the first WCW World Heavyweight champion of the new era to be Hulk Hogan, right? ... Well... Suprisingly, it was Booker T. Booker T defeated The Giant (Paul Wight/Big Show) at the first show of the new WCW, WCW Souled Out and defended the belt 18 times throughout the year, ending the year as champion. I would also like to note that Booker T is also the owner of the WCW developmental territory GCW, where he also works as a Main Eventer and held the GCW Heavyweight title from March 2008 to June 2008 with 16 defenses. I'm sure Booker's loyalty relationship to Bischoff forced Hogan to book him so well. LOL. WCW United States Title At the first show of the new WCW era, a former WWE Superstar named Johnny Bischoff (formerly Johnny Nitro) made his debut, playing that he was the illegimate son of Eric Bischoff. Johnny would defeat Jay-P (formerly JTG of WWE fame) to win the WCW US Title and go on to defend it for the entire year. WCW World Tag Team Title The Tag Team belts were not decided at the first WCW show, but the second WCW SuperBrawl and would be decided by the unusual team of Ekmo (formerly Umaga) and ... Paul London. It was interesting because London had just left WWE after jobbing out to Khali/Kane, losing the WWE Tag belts, and walked into WCW and won those belts. The Ekmo/London team defeated two other WWE Alumni, Matt Striker & Jay-P (JTG) for those belts and would remain champs all year, with an amazing 21 title defenses! WCW Television Title D'Lo Brown would be the first WCW TV champ of the new WCW era, having defeated Brutus Beefcake at WCW Souled Out. That reign would be an impressive one, with 16 title defences in 8 months, but would come to an end as he would be defeated by former WWE star Rico. Rico would remain champ for the rest of the year. WCW World War 3 Winner (Simulated by November tournament) Former WWE star Bobby Lashley, would left WWE in February 2008 would win WW3 and would actually face Booker T (yet lose) at StarCade. Notes About Hulk Hogan For those of you interested, Hogan managed to NOT give himself 1 title shot at ANY title... Maybe I should reinvestigate his personality. Unfortunately for the viewers of WCW Nitro and (the one episode of WCW Thunder that aired), Hogan forced us to watch the super exciting tag team of himself & Brutus Beefcake (of all people) feud with just about every tag team that existed in WCW. Granted, he did put over a lot of these teams, but still, I felt sorry for the viewers of these C+ (at best) matches. Interesting to note that of the few singles matches Hogan had, he defeated Juventud Guerrera, Carlito Colon, Johnny Heartbreaker, and Raging Robby (Rob Conway). His sole singles defeat was to Johnny Bischoff, which was not for the US title. I will give Hogan props and applaud him for his humble booking. Notes About WCW Strong booking. Can't say it enough. Apparently Hogan has a good mind for the business, as far as booking goes. The new WCW was a success maintaining its Global spot. I am satisfied thus far with the results... After a year, it looks like the average day to day time is about 2-3 minutes still. So I just stress that if you download this mod, have the patience to wait between days. I have to make a few tweaks that I noticed, then I might run another few test before the release... So I may release it before the projected 15th date, if I like the way it looks. So stay tuned... :)

aznblusuazn
Update: Day 2 Of Testing... I have been satisfied thus far actually playing the mod until I noticed that the TV Networks/PPV Carriers did not transfer over the risk/finance factors, so I'm going to have to go and fix those. Other than that, I'm happy with the results thus far. I wanted to add that Warrior (Ultimate Warrior) is an a@! in this mod. He wanted $75k, 50% merchandise, 50% PPV bonus, Travel Expenses, Creative Control, and Promised Main Event title reign... Once I finally signed him, he refused to do jobs, not even CO/DQs, to ANYONE, even someone with more overness than him. Realistically, I would never want such a cancer on my roster, I was basically testing his persona out for the mod. Very interesting to say the least. I saw some other things I may need to tweak before the release, but overall things are looking good. Stay tuned.

aznblusuazn
Between this and WOTI, I may have to quit my job......
Or you could be like me and play the game AT your job. :p Update I have completely redid the PPV Carriers and have gotten about half through the near 150 TV networks. I have really taking my time with these Carriers/Networks, fine tuning them so that reaching markets isn't as easy as it has been. For example, there are some networks that only cover 33% or 50% of the U.S., so there will be spots that you will have to contact other networks to cover these areas. This will mainly affect those of you who play as smaller promotions that are rising. Obviously, networks like USA or TNT will cover the entire country. I have worked hard also on the specific coverage of UK/European channels, like Kabel 1 only being available in Central Europe (Germany) instead of the entire country. I will say that the Japanese channels are more lienant, mainly because it's hard to find info on them. Hopefully I can get this complete and then drop a beta out there for testing so you guys can find obvious errors or problems for the 15th release date. Anyway, just updating everyone. Stay tuned... :)
