- Timeline: Wednesday, Week 4, July 2008 Scott Levy (a.k.a Raven) initiated a lawsuit against the WWE challenging one of the most controversial aspects of the promotion-wrestler relationship between major companies in recent years such as WCW and WWE...the issue of whether or not wrestlers are truly employees or independent contractors. Friday, Week 4, August 2008 Due to WWE not wanting bad publicity to get out, WWE reaches an out of court deal with Scott Levy which sees them viewing wrestlers as contracted employees. As part of the agreement WWE gives the license of ECW to Scott Levy, as well as the contracts that Levy demanded. ECW on Sci Fi is renamed WWE Superstars. Monday, Week 1, September 2008 ECW officially reopened, announcing that there owner would be Joey Styles, and their Head Booker would be Paul Heyman (me). Also announced was the first show, Tournament of Blood. On ECW.com a prediction contest was started, promising prizes for the winners. Friday Week 4, September 2008 ECW Holds the first Tournament of Blood. The Dudleys win the Tag Titles and Kurt Angle wins the world title. - Major Shows: Tournament of Blood - Past Storyline Updates: Back Story (In this post) -

ECW Tournament of Blood Madison Square Garden is dark, with a hum of excitement. The crowd pops something fierce as the old ECW music plays, showing old matches and old champions. RVD, Sandman, Sabu, Dreamer, Raven and the Dudleys are shown. At the end there is a static. On the screen it simple says ECW is dead. Then, in Raven's booming voice "Nevermore!" ECW is dead ... Nevermore! Video - C- Juventude Geurrera vs. Rob Van Dam Tournament of Blood First Round A quick, fast paced match between the luchador, and the ECW original. Juvie does well, but he eventually falls victem to the five star frog splash. Rob Van Dam over Juventud Guerrero - C+ Antisystem (Shannon Moore) vs. Chris Harris Antisystem gets a mixed response from the crowd, being a former WWE "wrestler". He handles Harris fairly easily, hitting the Mooregasm, renamed The System is Down. Antisystem over Chris Harris - D+ Deuce Wilde vs. Little Guido In an odd turn of events, the crowd which was just split on Moore, has no ill will towards Deuce, who is really Domino. Following? The pop is significant for the FBI member Little Guido. Duece uses his power to run through Guido, finishing with the kick to the mouth, renamed the Deuce is Wild. Duece Wilde over Little Guido - C- The Sandman vs. Tommy Dreamer Tournament of Blood First Round The fact that these two are ECW pureblood kept the crowd going more than the actual wrestling. To Sandman's credit, he wasn't drunk, and he put on a decent show. However, Dreamer showed an angry side which we have not seen from his since Pre-WWECW. Tommy Dreamer over The Sandman - C After the match, Dreamer grabs a mic. "For too damn long, I suffered to hands of this sadistic bitch known as "Hardcore Wrestling". **** you ECW. **** you fans. **** you Sandman. **** you Joey. **** you Tazz. **** you especially, Mr. Paul Heymen. Mr. ECW. You know why I joined ECW, Paul. It's not because I'm in love with the ECW ideals. Ideals. Bah. Those "ideals have taken years out of my past, ruined my marriage, cost me friendships, and stole years off my life I will never get back! No, Paul I didn't come back as "the Heart and Soul of ECW". I came back to kill ECW again, and this time for ****ing good." Tommy Dreamer against ECW - D+ Dreamer walks up the ramp, showering in the boos, when from behind the curtain a mysterious man runs out, and kicks Dreamer in the gut. Evenflow DDT onto the steel! The mystery man grabs the microphone. "When I was a small child I watched the elder beat your ass in the ring, out of the ring, with his fists or with his mind. Why would you throw those memories away, Tommy? Why would you want to forget how much of a loser you are?" The man stops for a second. "You will never escape your shortcomings, Tommy. You will always be the man who suffered for his sins, and never triumphed. Quote Nightraven Nevermore." Nightraven attacks Dreamer as he walks away, taunts - C L.A. Park vs. Nightraven After that great triumph of an angle this was a bit of a let down. The "chairman" Park got in some offense, but Nightraven took care of business in what was a basic squash match to establish the unknown man. Nightraven over L.A. Park - D Kazarian vs. Nick Dinsmore Tournament of Blood First Round Well, the crowd wanted nothing to do with Dinsmore, in the horrible way. Through the entire match there was a constant "You are special!" chant, and there was an audible boo when Dinsmore got the win. Nick Dinsmore over Kazarian - E+ Dinsmore gets a mic, which was a very bad idea in retrospect. "Shut the **** up! I'm not Eugene, anymore then Adam Sandler is Billy Madison." Shut! Up! Shut! Up! "YOU SHUT UP! I'm not just my WWE past! I have talent! I have talent!" Boooooo~! "**** this. Not worth my time." He hits a damn nice looking Olympic slam, and makes very short work of Billy. Kurt Angle over Billy the Man - C Billy the Man vs. Juventude Geurrero vs. Sabu vs. the Sandman Sabu's debut ignited a fire in the crowd, as he tore through these three first round unfortunates. The match was back and forth for a little bit of time, with Juvie impressing, but when Sabu took over, Sabu took over. Arabian Facebuster on The Sandman for the win. Sabu over Billy the Man, Juventude Guerrero, and the Sandman - C- Team ECW Hype Video - D+ All in One (Bryan Danielson and Jack Evans) vs. Team ECW (Rob Van Dam and Sabu) Tag Team Extreme Rules Match Boy howdy can Danielson and Evans go. Having them face RVD and Sabu just made it all the more fun to watch. Danielson beat down on Sabu, who was a bit tired after just going the match before. Then he tagged in Evans. Evans took too long to set up a big spot, and Sabu tagged in RVD. After the usual offense, and the Five Star Frog Splash, RVD tagged Sabu (now rested) back. Arabian Facebuster and a pin for the Original. Team ECW over All in One in a Tag Team Extreme Rules Match - C The Dudley Boys Debut Video - C+ Jerry Lynn and Psychosis vs. The Dudley Boys Tag Team Extreme Rules Match Psychosis and Lynn work off each other pretty well, but there is no denying the greatness that is the Dudley Boys. While Psycho's speed and Lynn's talent befuddled the veterans for a while, it was only a matter of time before the Extreme Rules made up the difference, and Jerry Lynn got Dudley Death Dropped through a table. The Dudley Boys over Jerry Lynn and Psychosis in a Tag Team Extreme Rules Match- C Rob van Dam vs. Tommy Dreamer Ladder Match A absolutely amazing effort from Tommy Dreamer, who is obviously stepping up his game. Van Dam used the ladder to deliver some truely devistating kick spots to Dreamer. One memorable one which will definetly be on our highlight reel was when RVD set Dreamer up on the turnbuckle. He proceded to climb the ladder to about midway, jump off, and deliver a sick kick to the head, forcing Dreamer to recoil back onto the steel step below. After a frog splash off the ladder, RVD climbed to the top and received the papers, ensuring his right to get into the finals. Rob Van Dam over Tommy Dreamer in a Ladder Match - B- Kurt Angle vs. Nick Dinsmore Submission Match We had high hopes for this match, really high hopes. Angle seemed flat, and sluggish. Meanwhile the crowd still crapped on anything Dinsmore did, not buying him for one reason or another. After a long, long seven minutes Dinsmore taps to the Ankle Lock. Kurt Angle over Nick Dinsmore in a Submission Match - C- Team ECW vs. The Dudley Boys Tag Tables Match ECW Tag Team Title Van Dam starts off hesitant, after a gruelling ladder match, and with a final against Angle still to come. Sabu is left to basically deal with both Dudleys, who make rather short work of him. However, as D-Von leaves to get the tables, RVD evens the odds by hitting Bubba with a chair wrapped in barbed wire. The fan's go nuts as RVD beats down Bubba, and throws the chair to intercept the on-coming D-Von. Van Daminator! Van Dam leaves the ring and slides in two tables. He sets one up in the middle of the ring. Pulling Bubba up, he wants to suplex his through the table. The crowd is going crazy, but RVD can't lift Bubba. He's too big. Sabu recovers and goes to interfere, but is stopped by a recovered D-Von. Bubba recovers, pulls Van Dam up, and spinebusters him. He lays the boots in, and rolls RVD out of the ring. One on one Sabu had been handling D-Von, but as soon a Bubba enters Sabu is knocked around the ring. Advantageously, he finds himself knocked down to the mat, right next to the barbed wire chair. He picks it up and springs to life, backing himself into a corner and screaming at the Dudleys to attack him. They seem hesitant at first, but rush in together. Sabu hits Bubba with the chair, and Bubba reels back. Sabu hits D-Von with the chair and D-Von reels back. Sabu swings at Bubba, but Bubba catches it. While the two are struggling, D-Von kicks Sabu in the ribs. Bubba wrangles the chair away, and smacks Sabu with it. He pulls Sabu towards the middle of the ring. D-Von follows him. 3-D through the table. The Dudleys win the championship! The Dudley Boys over Team ECW in a Tag Tables Match for the ECW Tag Team Title - B- After the match, each Dudley climbs a turnbuckle and celebrates yet another ECW Title reign. The Dudleys celebrate the win - B- Meanwhile, as RVD walks to the back, Kurt Angle attacks him with a chair repeatedly, before hitting the Angle Slam onto the steel, bustin Van Dam open. Sabu just looks on and walks by. Kurt attacks RVD before the Bloody Final - C The match is explained as a normal hardcore match, except you cannot attempt to beat your opponent until they are bleeding. Kurt Angle vs. RVD in the Bloody Final Hype - B- Kurt Angle vs. Rob Van Dam Bloody Final Match ECW World Extreme Title and Tournament of Blood Title Angle stands in the ring as the fans shower him with boos. Van Dam hobbles down to the ring, blood already gushing from his forehead. Angle smirks, knowing he cheated the system. The bell rings and Angle rushes Van Dam with a series of forearms, leading to the Angle Slam again. Angle goes for the cover. 1 ... 2 ... No! Van Dam gets his foot on the ropes. Angle is livid, yelling at the referee and anyone who can hear his voice. His tirade gives Van Dam enough time to roll out of the ring and get a chair. He ducks down, and waits for Angle to notice he is gone. Angle eventually does, and goes to find him outside the ring. As Angle turn the corner, Van Dam pounces, leveling Angle with the chair. Van Dam goes on to deliver some slow offense, really selling the beating he's taken all day, through five matches now. He begins to set Angle up for the Van Terminator. He leaps, but as he's on his way down, Angle moves. Van Dam hits canvas, and Angle gets his second wind. Chair shots rain down on Van Dam. He then sets up the chair on Van Dam's ankle. He steps on it once, the drive home some pain. Then he climbs to the top rope. He tries to stomp on the chair from the top rope, but Van Dam moves. Holding onto the ropes, Van Dam stands gingerly. It is obvious his ankle is beat up. Angle just calmly stalks behind him. Van Dam turns around, and Angle scoops him up for the Angle Slam. Kurt undoes his top straps and looks menicingly at the unmoving body of Van Dam. Savagely he grabs the ankle he stomped on earlier, and puts it in the Ankle Lock! Van Dam looks as if his leg is being torn off. Angle keeps putting pressure on the ankle, but Van Dam won't quit. He reaches out ... and grabs the rope! Angle didn't pull him away, he's too experienced to be making mistakes such as that! Angle pulls Van Dam up. He pulls back and throws a punch, but Van Dam blocks it. He throws one with his left, but Van Dam blocks again. He tries the right again, but Van Dam blocks, then hopples into a one legged hop to dropkick Angle in the knees. Van Dam crawls towards the chair in the middle of the ring. When he reaches it, it is as if he received a rush of adreniline, as he stands on both feet. Angle rises, and Van Dam throws the chair. Angle catches, and Van Dam leaps ... off his bad ankle. He falls, clutching it, as Angle comes to his senses. Discarding the chair, Angle goes back to the Ankle Lock. Van Dam's in the middle of the ring. He fights, but it's pointless. He can't reach the ropes. He reaches and ... grabs the chair! In desperation he flings his arm back. The chair connects, and shocks Angle into releasing the hold. Angle reels back, and clutches his face. The chair shot opened him up, both men can win now! At this point Angle loses it. He steals the chair from Van Dam and hits him repeatedly with it. he then attaches it to Van Dam's ankle again after Van Dam rolled to his stomach. He goes to stomp on the chair, but Van Dam kicks, and the chair hits Angle. Angle becomes more enraged. Grabbing the chair, he turns Van Dam over and begins spinning the chair! He's using the chair to execute the Ankle Lock! Van Dam struggles, but eventually is forced to tap! ECW.com presents Wrestling Monthly by 2k Nikk Welcome to the debut edition of Wrestling Today, I'm Nikk Rund, the man lucky enough to get paid by ECW to watch wrestling. I love my job. First of all, ECW returned with Tournament of Blood. A lot of fan's are shocked at the champions, the Dudleys and Kurt Angle. Yes, they are still on written contracts with TNA, however ECW and TNA are said to be pretty close business wise, almost partners. This would explain the willingness to talent share. In September ECW made around 105,000 dollars, a solid gain. Of course any gain is good for ECW. It is said they will be running two PPV a month until they can secure a television deal. The backstage area of ECW is truely a special place, with no known trouble makers. Elsewhere, WWE has been making waves by calling up homegrown talent left and right. Mike Kruel, Kevin Keenan, and Andrew Vain were all called up from FCW. WWE held Unforgiven, a decent event which saw Big Show and Jeff Hardy draw in the Main Event. Missing from the card: HHH, HBK, Undertaker, CM Punk, Batista, John Cena. WWE's replacement for the ECW Championship, the "WWE Super Star Championship" was won by Jeff Hardy. Also, William Regal won the IC belt. Batista won the WWE World Heavyweight for the 4th time. TNA has had some excellent shows of late. The PPV No Surrender was easily the best of the Big 3 for September. The Main Event saw Booker T beat Kevin Nash for the title. Match of the night easily went to Sting and Brother Bubba (Ray Dudley) beating Kurt Angle and Christian Cage. Booker T won the TNA World Heavyweight Title at the Impact before Hard Justice. The Tag Team Championship went to the team known as The Tag Team Gods Brother Devon (D-Von Dudley) and Kip James. The X Division belt has jumped from Kaz to AJ Styles, who beat our own Sabu three times to retain the belt. September also saw ROH officially rise to cult status. They held Glory by Honor Night 2 which was Main Evented by Davey Richards over Nigel McGuinness. Good show, but not Big 3 worthy.
And what is the prize if we can now? I'd be tempted to vote next time, since the diary is pretty much awesome ;]
The last prize was getting to put together a tag team, which dse made Dinsmore and Antisystem team up. Next prize ... who knows?

  • 3 weeks later...
Bump and many many sorries for any fans I picked up (and hopefully didn't lose) I caught a case of what was a mild cold, but between the drugs putting me to sleep and another 40 hour week something had to be cut, and that was my computer in general. ECW Alive is still ... well ... Alive. Expect a show Monday... because I have Monday off!
