WalterSobchak
Guys & Gals, I'm currently playing a MAW game and have considered developing it into a diary if I can find the time. Since many of you play with C-verse, I figure I would share my current roster and champions with you to see what kind of ideas some of you great wrestling minds would have. Let me hear'em! MAW Oct. 2008 MAW World Heavyweight Champion E. Strong 10 Defenses He's developing really well and has put on good enough matches to keep the belt. MAW North American Championship Primus Allen 4 Defenses He's getting ready for a big feud with Gargantuan, most likely will retain belt. MAW World Tag Team Championship American Attitude (Bulldozer Smith as "The Patriot" & American Elemental) 2 Defenses Just won the belts from the Blondes, who have held them since the beginning of my game. I have brought back Natural Storm and will be building them to face AA for the belts. MAW Young Lion's Championship Jacob Jett 3 Defenses He won the belt in a 15 Man Young Lions Battle Royal and has done a good job as champion so far. Rip Chord Tournament Champion Antonio Won the 2008 edition of the tournament, cashed in and lost to Strong after gaining momentum through a 10 match winning streak. Main Eventers 1. Mean Jean Cattley 2. Art Reed 3. Antonio 4. Erik Strong 5. Stevie Grayson 6. American Elemental 7. Dan Elderberry Upper Midcarder 1. Jacob Jett 2. FINisher
1. How on earth you have such a huge roster? It's half about default roser the size of MAW (In Regional). 2. How's your finances? 3. What's the size of NOTBPW, TCW, SWF etc.? PGHW, other big promotions. You have Shooter Sean Deeley, Am. Elemental and lots of other guys who should be somewhere else than in MAW. Also, I believe you are at Regional?
WalterSobchak
1. I'm hoping this post will address this question, I'm looking to cut dead weight. Having the extra RA and Annoucer are more for my storyline than anything, but I'm looking to dump some wrestlers. I figured I would keep the roster around 40 for diary purposes. 2. Finances could be better, I'm selling out 1000 seat auditoriums, but have had no interest from TV. I'm not sure TV is really the next step, but any extra income would be good. 3. SWF is global, TCW & NOTBPW are both International. I'm not sure why I have been able to hold on to Shooter, but nobody has offered him a written yet. I have Art Reed, American Elemental, and Dan Elderberry on short term agreements. The first two I was able to snag as soon as their tours ended. lazorbeak
Good god that is a bloated roster. Pretty hilarious that Gargantuan is in a non-sports entertainment promotion. Your roster is too big, you've got at least one title too many, and why are you bringing in Rain and Howard unless they were unemployed? MAW should be all about building future stars through Mean Machine's skill and Rip Chord's abilities as a trainer and road agent, not a bunch of nostalgia, bringing back "originals" who have moved on to bigger things. WalterSobchak
I have brought Rain and Howard back to put over a couple of my up and coming tag teams. I was considering putting the belts back on them for a short time to help put over who gets them next.

Where's the Jefferson Stardust love? :(
I feel the same.. When I play MAW, I hardly ever fire anyone MAW Original from the roster. Darn it these new generation players :p Getting all the best talent ASAP.. Oh well. I think that someone is cheating with the finances. You can not run MAW with that many people on the roster. Using half the roster would still get you in negative, and upset the other half for not being used.
lazorbeak
Yeah, that's bloated, but I guess what I don't understand is why anyone needs a roster of 35-40 guys for a REGIONAL fed. 20 is the recommended number, and unless you're running multiple shows a week or incredibly long shows, I have no idea how you find the time to use all these guys. Also, Benneto's roster cracks me up as it is so jam-packed with guys that have zero business being there. El Fuerza and Champagne Lover? Swoop McCarthy? Robbie Retro and Zimmy Bumfhole? It looks like an SWF development fed more than an independent regional promotion.
Benneto
lol champagne lover has had the title for a year and a month lol and fuerza is his bodyguard i only have robbie and james brandon because i have loaned them from swf for my super show zimmy b got fired so hes mine straight away and Swoop has his own Pipers pit kind of show which gets me high marks
WalterSobchak
Well Im glad the best input I've gotten so far is that my roster is bloated and I have been accussed of cheating. Thanks guys for the help so far... :)

FINisher
Well, you did ask for feedback and comments, didn't you? :P Oh well. When I started with the old EWR and TEW05, in the beginning I was like that also. I quickly signed all the starts that I could have. Then, game after game after game, I got really bored. Always the same workers. Always the same stars. Until I figured out that developing your own stars is really rewarding. In TEW07, I still had most of the original roster of MAW with me when I went to Global. Antonio was C+ to B all around, and was an upper midcarder. Yes, I had JD Morgan and Jimmy Cox there, but only when reaching Cult status as I needed more people to the roster. Steven Parker was in the main event, even when I was at Global status. His skills ranged from C+ to B+. I had one of the best rosters ever, and most of the guys I had were originally in MAW with little popularity or skills at the start. :)
James Casey
Benneto, how on earth did you get a working agreement with SWF? I've never had them agree to one. As for Jared's roster, I've got about 35 active workers on mine, plus a bunch who are inactive 'cos I'm bored of them :-p It's not hard to build up the company, although I agree that if he's not out running weekly shows outside the Mid Atlantic, he might need to reconsider. Benneto
i dont know because it was wierd i asked SWF and TCW. TCW said no but its usually them who say yes but i reckon it was because i signed champagne lover they might of wanted to loan him
Purple Cowboy
SWF went for a non-aggression pact with MAW in my "fun" game right from the start. You probably already know that James, but just sayin. I also bloated the roster pretty well by the end of 2009, over 30 workers and still turning a profit. Mind, the profits are the slimmest of margins (I only have $170k after two years) but it can be done. Just give the unhappy workers a few wins in the months prior to their contract is up and I've been fine. Also, yes MAW is a "development" fed in terms of the C-Verse, that doesn't mean a more ambitious head booker wouldn't try to make it something more. After all, you can never trust a drunk (reformed or not).
DaMegaFish
I like having large rosters, but not at the top, I hate crowed Main Event/Upper Mid scenes, the bottom is bloated though because I use them as jobbers and feed the top talent. Works great IMO since they dont complain about getting not used very often at Lower Midcard and Opener or Enhancement Talents. So Id say your Upper-Midcard needs the most work but idk what to cut. Find who is just on job duty and get rid of them, then find out characters that dont really do much period for you.

"Hey, way to sign thirty new guys that are incredibly talented (and Gargantuan)! You should book WWE lolz." It's not like nobody's thought of this before. I think everybody's first EWR/TEW experience is probably pretty close to what FIN is describing. You learn how to use search filters, you find the most talented guys (or you could just read a bunch of indy c-verse diaries), and straightaway sign a ton of talent that either isn't over or works for another promotion. But like FIN said, that's really not that original or fun. You find you're playing the same game every time: signing workers you like and putting them over the rest of the roster. And that's incredibly boring. How about next time, instead of going sign-happy, you work with the roster you've got, and if you need an extra guy or two, sign somebody that fits your promotion's product. I mean, can anybody really envision Robbie Retro in an old school, wrestling intensive environment? Barry Kingman is far more valuable to a promotion like MAW than Gargantuan, a guy who gets tired walking down a flight of stairs and has no real wrestling skills.
:'( me too lets just quit and play as some japanese promotion or NOTBPW and make it easy as pie.
With the way you're playing, I don't see why not. If you're going to import guys from other continents to give them high rated talk show segments in a traditional old school promotion, you're booking for the wrong company. Try CGC or SWF (oh wait, SWF actually requires good booking).

juggaloninjalee
Well if he wants to "cheat" thats his deal. Its not cheating though. Its his game to mold as he wishes. I say let him run it like that. If he enjoys it great. I remember when I first got EWR I rigged my games with my own self made guys at backyard level and quickly rose to 90% overness taking on the WWE. That was always fun for me. Maybe for him its taking MAW and making it his own company and taking it to the top. As for me I know I cant enjoy a game like that anymore. I have more fun taking less talented guys and making them stars. Its fun to develope characters espescially when you never saw it going there.
