James Casey
Does the size of a show (small, medium etc) affect the impact on popularity the show will have? Am considering going up from weekly small shows but don't know whether to go for twice-weekly small show, one medium show, or one medium, one small show. I've recently had a spillover popularity rise from my south-east And great lakes shows to (iirc) Ontario, tri-state and mid-south and am wondering how best to capitalize. I miss the Internet... FINisher
In my experience it doesn't. I select the size of the event so that it suits the popularity in the region and the profit. Below D- I use Small, D and up Medium.. and. I don't know, C maybe when doing Big events. Depends. :) It could help if you told how popular you are in US regions. Kainlock
don't know for sure but going to a bigger show increases attendance. So i would think that more people means more exposure means better rise in popularity and importance.
James Casey
It could help if you told how popular you are in US regions.
:p Mid Atlantic - 45.3% - Fortnightly Medium shows Great Lakes/South East - 21.1/21.0% - Fortnightly Small shows (until now) Tri-State/Puerto Rico/Ontario - 5.6/5.0/5.0% - Added one stop a month to small show rotation Rest of US - 0.1% randomly Everywhere else - 0% What I'm considering is something like this: Mid Atlantic stays at fornightly medium shows - Brand 1 - Workers on $700+ per appearance, and the attendant popularity GL/SE stays at fortnightly small shows - but possibly moving up to medium if it's viable financially - Brand 2 - Workers on $300 to $600 an appearance, on the cusp of moving up to the big shows, and capable of putting on a mid-D range show TS/PR/O each having small shows every third week until spillover brings in their neighbours as well - Brand 3 - $250 or less per appaerance, shows probably in the E range, but that's a full grade higher than my overness in the regions. A comparable plan worked wonders in 07, but that was just two brands, with the Internet having got me to around 15% everywhere before I went on tour. Has anyone tried this at Regional? I know it's ambitious, but if I can get by for a few months, the income from the Brand 1 and 2 shows should be enough to keep me steady... Knowing how much it costs to put on the different shows might really help, incidentally - I don't have a head for maths at the best of times, and just got diagnosed with an ear infection that's making me feel a bit dizzy :p
James Casey
Bumping, 'cos I'm still curious about this. What's the most shows anyone's run at Regional without killing their pockets?
Malioc
don't know for sure but going to a bigger show increases attendance. So i would think that more people means more exposure means better rise in popularity and importance.
I don't think, that really happens. But better production increases the popularity gain, if you can afford it. I always use 1 weekly show at the highest level, because it increased attendance and imo also sponsoring. Plus, I was able to get a weekly TV show on regular level (Mexico rulez =)), so I showcased overall 8 shows per months ... without ANY penalty. On the other hand doing more than one show (TV shows don't count) always damaged my audience significantly. It was stable for years (above the forecast), as long as I didn't increase my number of shows. When I put in a single monthly PPV for a special occasion, it bumped (significantly below forecast) my audience ... for a looong time. Luckily, at this point, money wasn't an issue anymore. Therefore: 1 Medium show >> 2 Small shows ;-) As far as the spillover goes, ignore it, as long as you can't do PPVs / regular TV shows anyway. Doesn't bring you anything. benjacko
I run two shows a month (one small 1 hour event and one medium 2 hour event) with my regional ROF and make about 10-15k a month depending on worker use.
