The Stallion
They were the comments that shook TNA all the way to the back office. Kurt Angle gave an interview to The Sun, a popular magazine in the UK, that harshly criticized TNA citing an abundance of gimmick matches and run-in finishes as some of the reason’s why fans may be turned off by the product.
“Wrestling is very simple, keep it simple. Take the King Of The Mountain match. You have to put the belt on the hook, but before you do that you have to pin somebody. If you get pinned then you end up in the penalty box. When you get out the penalty box you’re still eligible to win as long as you pin somebody and then put that belt up on the hook. It’s like holy s***, it’s too f***ing confusing. And that’s one of our biggest matches of the year. Why not just make it that someone puts the belt on the hook and they win. That’s all you’ve got to do. We can do all the same spots and have all the same energy.” “Let’s face it, a tar and feather match today wouldn’t go over too well. But we’ve actually done that. That’s a 1960’s match, this is 2008. We’re in an MMA world. Fans want to see mano a mano. One on one. Let’s go at it. We call ourselves Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. We say: “TNA – we are wrestling.” No we’re not. We’re f***ing gimmick matches. “Then there are the run-ins. At the last PPV, No Surrender, we had a triple threat main event between me, Christian Cage and Samoa Joe. We had a great match, but Samoa Joe won because Jeff Jarrett came in and hit me with a guitar. I would have won if Jeff didn’t do that. I believe that Joe should have kicked my ass and Christian’s ass and won straight up and then afterwards Jeff could have come in or even waited until the next night on TV and attacked me. I’m trying to make our younger guys more popular. I let AJ beat me the last four times we wrestled for a reason. To make him a bigger star. I wanted Joe to beat me and Christian at the PPV to make him a bigger star. But what’s been happening is we have run-ins to create the wins, so I get protected. I don’t want to be protected and I don’t need to be protected.”
Those were only some of the comments from Kurt Angle, However these were not the only comments by a top-tier TNA guy to hit the airways. AJ Styles, Kevin Nash and Booker T were noted as saying similar things in various interviews. So what was to be done? Jeff Jarrett now knew there was no denying it. Fans and wrestlers alike wanted a change and it was up to him to deliver it. That’s why after Bound For Glory, Jeff made an announcement that would change TNA wrestling forever.
“I am not the greatest booker in the world, I know that. I do have a mind for this business, but it is obvious that I don’t belong at the head of the creative team. The creative team that we have in TNA, I truly believe, is a very good one. Dutch Mantell has been doing amazing things with the Knockout division and Vince Russo has given us great ideas that we would never thought of due to his experience in this business. Add to that the fact that we take ideas from various members of the staff and I think we have a good running machine backstage. However I think we lack focus and we are somewhat out of touch with what the fans are looking for in the TNA product. Because of this I have decided to put a new man in the role of head booker. This guy will have total control over everything creative that happens and will take inputs from Dutch and Vince. His name is Robert Nigro and he has been kind of like an intern here at TNA for the past three years. The reason I am giving Robert this power is because first and foremost he is a true wrestling fan. Second he has one hell of a mind for this business as I’ve seen first hand during the 3 hour session I held with him the other day as he outlined his ideas for the future of this company. This change will forever impact the way TNA is run and I think with Robert at the helm things look very bright for the future. Thank you for your time.”
TNA: Brand New Day
The Stallion
Ok guys, this is my first diary in a VERY long time so I may be a bit rusty. Just to let everyone know I will be keeping up on this as much as my life lets me. I am in the Navy and very busy. However whenever I am out to see I will continue to write things up and when I come back I will post what I have. Again since I am in the Navy, even though I may be in port, there might be some gaps between posts. However I do not plan on dropping this anytime soon. As far as backstory goes this starts in the first week of November following Bound For Glory IV. Now I know this is not the way it really happens but since I cant start in the middle of the month, in my head Bound For Glory happened at the end of October. As far as match turn out, here is what happened at Bound For Glory IV (in my head anyway) Sheik Abdul Bashire retained the TNA X-Division Title against Consequences Creed - After the match, Creed once again pushed around Shane Sewell, causing Sewell to snap again and attack Sheik Bashire. Taylor Wilde retain the TNA Knockouts Title against Awesome Kong & Roxxi when she pinned Roxxi to win the match. Beer Money held on to the Tag Team Titles in the Monsters Ball match when Abyss went nuts and attacked everyone, including his own tag team partner, with a chair! This allowed Robert Roode to get the pin over Hernandez. Jeff Jarrett beat Kurt Angle after the referee was knocked out and Mick Foley count the 3! Angle pushed Foley around a bit during the match which lead to a controversial fast 3 after Jarrett hit Angle with The Stroke. Angle got his shoulder up right after the 3 count, but many would argue that the count was fast. Samoa Joe retained the World Heavyweight Championship after a bloody match with Sting, with both athletes going to there limit. Sting offered to shake Joe's hand after the match, but Joe refused, turing his back on Sting. Sting was not happy about this and wants Joe once again in the ring, even though in the match contract there was a no rematch clause. Well there you have it. I am finishing writing up the show now so hopefully within the next day or two I will have it posted. I hope you guys like it!

Now tonight I can feel that opportunity in the air once again. All I have to do is reach up and grab it! However I have to go through 3 of the best wrestlers in this business today. AJ Styles, quite arguable the best young talent in the world today. Rhino, rage and intensity personified. Booker T, someone who has fought for everything he has and has still been on top more times then most will achieve in a lifetime. Sting, the living legend, the icon known the world around. Then there is me, Christian Cage, the skinny punk kid who everybody said wouldn’t go further then being a comedy sidekick in a tag team. But I went further Crystal, I went further than anybody every thought I would…or I should. I defied them all and became the World Heavyweight Champion not once, but twice. What’s going on is that Booker T is more focused than ever. I have been too preoccupied with being treated like royalty and the legend that I am, that I lost sight of what made Booker T, Booker T. On today’s show we will talk about a whole slew of topics ranging from TNA meeting with two legends of the ring, the computer simulation of the upcoming match between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe and so many other things. Lets kick things off with the challenge issued to Taylor Wilde by Awesome Kong. Kong brutally attacked the TNA Knockouts commissioner Traci Brooks and then Raisha Saeed told Wilde that if Wilde did not give Kong a shot at the Title that the beatings would continue. Ladies and gentlemen, we here at TNA have gotten to know Taylor Wilde pretty well since she joined us and I can tell you one thing, Taylor Wilde does not back down from a challenge. Next up I have it on very good authority that Shane Sewell, who just beat the TNA X-Division Champion Sheik Abdul Bashire in an upset victory, is now the #1 Contender for the Title. We all know that he is a referee, but this referee beat the X-Division Champion. I want to see it, you the fans want to see it, and we just might get it. Speaking of the X-Division right now TNA is in contact with some of the best X-Division athletes from around the world. The X-Division is about to break open for the first time in years and the best is yet to come. Next I want to talk a little about this upcoming sim match between Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. We are very excited about this here at TNA. All the attributes of both AJ and Joe will be put into this computer program and we will get a simulation of the match that will take place between them. It should be interesting to say the least. Now on to Impact this week. Ladies and gentlemen we have a great show lined up for you this week. Here’s the rundown… Doug Williams vs. Curry Man Last week Doug Williams showed that he is a forced to be reckoned with in TNA and this week he gets a shot at the fan favorite Curry Man. Xavier vs. Super Eric Another member of the Prince Justice Brotherhood is in action against a newcomer here to TNA, Xavier. Not much is known about this kid yet, we will just have to wait and see if he can hold his own against TNA’s own Superhero Scott Steiner & Petey Williams vs. The Motorcity Machine Guns Last week Scott Steiner returned to TNA and he was not happy with Petey Williams losing the X-Division gold. This week he teams up with Petey in what they are calling there first step to the Tag Team Titles. However standing in there way is one of the best tag teams in the world of professional wrestling right now, the Motorcity Machine Guns. Who will come out on top here? Kid Kash vs. Jay Lethal You heard right ladies and gentlemen, for those of you who have been with TNA since the Wednesday night PPV’s, you know who Kid Kash is. He is the most arrogant X-Division athlete to ever step into the ring in TNA. He returns to TNA looking to capture the TNA X-Division championship but his first test is the Black Machismo Jay Lethal who, in my opinion, is one of the greatest X-Division stars in the world. Awesome Kong vs. Christy Hemme Christy Hemme returns to the ring this week for the first time in a while, but she gets to face off against the devastating Awesome Kong. TNA World Tag Team Title match Team 3D vs. Beer Money The TNA World Tag Team Titles are on the line once again as Beer Money defends against Team 3D, the most decorated Tag Team in history. Beer Money is looking to put another notch in there belts by beating another top tag team here in TNA, but Team 3D is looking for gold. Booker T & Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage & Rhino Probably one of the biggest tag team matches ever on Impact. There are so many combustible elements in this match I tell you ladies and gentlemen, the referee is going to have a hard time keeping the piece in this one. Plus Mick Foley is going to be looking for Kurt Angle after Kurt attacked him last week, and Sting wants to talk to the fans live in the Impact zone about retirement. It all happens this Thursday night Live on Impact on Spike TV. Now before I go, at the top of the show I told you that TNA was talking to two great legends in this business today. Ladies and gentlemen get ready for this. TNA has been talking to both The Nature Boy Ric Flair and Mr. Pay Per View Rob Van Dam! Now I cant tell you what was talked about, or if any sort of agreements were made between any of these parties, but just the fact that TNA is in some sort of talks with these two legends is big news in of itself. I will try to have more on this next week and perhaps at Impact. Goodnight everybody!
