foolinc
Another week of exciting football and another week of beating the AP poll (though barely) for the WAS. As an added bonus, the Bottom 10 did what they did best and lost all nine games the teams were apart of. IMO, the biggest surprise of the week for the WAS agreeing with the pollsters and having Texas jump eight spots into the top spot of the rankings, though I'm glad because I had a sneaking suspicion that OU was only going to drop a spot or two. Unsurprising in the fall of Tulsa after barely beating last week's last place team and this week's 2nd to last place team, SMU. Finally, as some of you know, all my stats come from the NCAA website. The only downside to doing using the site is that the SOS stat on their site is crude. What I want is for my SOS stat to not only weigh their opponent's win percentage but also their opponent's SOS. There really isn't an easy way to do this, so I am going to leave it the way it is for the rest of this season and try and see if I can figure an easy way to do it for next season. Quick Hits: - After losing to Arkansas, Auburn fell off the AP 25. In the WAS, they fell 18 spots and are currently the 67th best team in the land. - In their first loss ever to a current MAC team, Michigan fell 16 spots and is in danger of being in the bottom ten. They are currently ranked 106th. - South Carolina continues their road to redemption as they jump 8 spots to 43rd this week, one spot better than their next week's opponent, LSU. - The worst BCS school, Washington St., was spanked by Oregon St. last week, 66-13. The silver lining? They move up two spots, from 116 to 114. Ryan Leaf would be proud. - After being laughed at by pundits in the early weeks, the ACC makes a surprising jump to the 2nd best conference. Though it probably won't last as the SEC and Big 10 (tied for 3rd) are only a single point back from the ACC in the rankings.
