Ratings Question

Recommended Posts

So I'm trying to understand ratings a bit here. Things just aren't making sense in one of my games. I've basically got two issues... First is head-to-head. My A show and my primary competitions A show are on the same night. The show I just put on destroyed theirs in every way. A full two grades higher. I started my show with a great segment and a very good match. Yet they beat me in ratings by a slight margin. The only difference is that slot on their network is rated as High, whereas mine is currently Medium. I'm guessing that's what would make the difference, even though my show is consistently better? Second, their second show is drawing monster ratings. Like nearly double what our regular shows both are. Its been drawing strong since it debuted, but it jumped by about 0.7 a couple of weeks ago and has stayed there. This is despite them putting on kinda crap shows during those weeks. The time slot on that network is only rated on Medium. The only advantage that show has is no competition on Monday nights. Would a lack of competition really allow for monster ratings on a show even if its poor in quality? I'm just trying to get my head around the ratings a bit more. I'm not sure if I should be worried by my competition doing so well or not. I know the ratings of given time slots will change soon enough, but that won't be another two months and a lot of damage can happen in that time....
1. Yes, because even though your show might be better, they are reaching more people. You can argue the ECW was putting on much better shows than WWF or WCW, but the big two reached more people. 2. Yes Honestly, I wouldn't be going head to head with them until I secured a show on a bigger network.
I am on a bigger network already. Guess I'll just have to keep stealing their best workers.
