Eisen-verse
In the Cornell-verse, Gil Thomas is somewhat of an unknown person but seemingly could have a pretty big impact if created right. He has seemingly a lot of money... (in his bio it says "Gil Thomas is a business man who made his fortune in the cut throat world of knitwear. He has been involved as a financial backer with several West Coast groups.") And while he isn't very known in the sense of wrestling knowledge (He hasn't worked for any company)... It seems that he is a keen business man who would want to develop his own company to challenge the "big three". My question to you guys is... (if you would want to respond and give your insight) What size of company (ie: Small, Regional, Cult, etc.) would Gil Thomas theoretically be able to open? * He isn't known well enough to have a company start out at "cult" levels probably since he is a relative unknown outside of having money. I could see potentially it being a middle of the road regional company out of the west coast that has a good ton of money... Somewhere around the 2.5 million ideal. Now I know that when creating a company in game... It's really what you want to do with it, however, It's always nice to get others thinking about the possibility too. That way it feels more realistic to what the Cornellverse may see with a new promotion from someone like Gil Thomas. Thanks guys! Cheers.
foolinc
He has the money to open up a Cult company for sure. If you are using Thomas as your owner, think about the workers you want and build the company to that level. I like to think of him like poor man's Ted Turner. He likes an entertainment styled company but really is hands off otherwise.
Eisen-verse
He has the money to open up a Cult company for sure. Seeing how Thomas is a relative unknown (other than in the financial world). When it came to people on the roster, I wouldn't want to "steal" anyone from the big companies (or really any for that matter). Rather starting the roster from scratch and bringing in enough workers to fit the level of the promotion. I'm going to have it as an edgier Sports Entertainment product to challenge USPW and their "family friendly" product. Making Gil into somewhat of a VKM and me being his son, Sean Thomas. Derek B
I would say you could only really open a promotion that is as strong as your main event scene. Obviously Gil can give you some financial clout, but without any star power you could just be a rich indy promotion looking to make a name for yourself. If you were to give yourself some fairly over guys like Henry Lee, Madman Boone, Acid, Art Reed, Steve Flash and Grandmaster Phunk right off the bat then you could almost have enough star power to set yourself to about 50ish over across the country. Maybe not quite at cult level but certainly getting close to it, and if you give them a couple of years on their contracts then you could set yourself the challenge to get over enough to get them to sign with you again when their contracts come up. :)

I was leaning towards either a high regional company or a low cult level company. After looking over what logos I have out there, I've decided to go with the name "Global Wrestling Association" as someone recently posted a logo w/ a banner for the company! It's hard to run a company without the logo/banner combo. hah.
SaySo
So with a main event roster of: Shawn Gonzalez, Steve Flash, Chris Caulfield, Puerto Rican Power Kaos (Hell's Bouncer), Grandmaster Phunk, Eric Tyler Notables: Jim Force, Steve Flash, JD Morgan, Shooter Sean Deeley. With co-owners: Gil Thomas, Chairman Jake Sawyer. What overness would a new promotion can start with?

Caulfield, Tyler, and Gonzalez alone have draw power to put you at that level. The company I created with Gil is going to be around 47% over just barely putting it over a Cult level, however, my roster won't have those big names. So, for you, I would say somewhere around mid to upper 50's?

On a related note, I did the banner and logo to coincide with the GWA title belts graphics that are in the default data, so you have some ready made titles to work with. Maybe a dynasty could be in the works?

I was thinking of creating a dynasty based upon the GWA and it's rise to take on USPW. (and later TCW and SWF) :D Great work though!
Antithesis
I was thinking of a diary based on the GWA (owned by Gil) where he buys out SOTBPW and NOTBPW (from a weary Dan Stone) along with CZCW and merges the three. I know some people dislike C verse diaries that disrupt existing companies, but the alternative is a diary with an upstart company that always uses the same available talent. Personally I like reading stuff where people shake things up, and not more of the same old same old.
Mr T Jobs To Me
Gil Thomas used to own one of the companies in TEW2004, I'm pretty sure. Can't for the life of me remember which one.

WalterSobchak
Eisen, How are you setting up your game database wise, so when and if Gil retires/dies/ect you would inherit the company?

I could be wrong though. I'm guessing once Gil dies/retires then I'll just have to try to take it over myself and if I'm unable to then I'll go ahead as the booker while it has a new owner I guess? Derek B
Should be doable... if you make yourself a blood relation you'd probably get the company as the game generally passes promotions along family ties. I imagine you'd also get a strong chance of it happening if you were a best friend of his too, though I'm not actually sure about that.
