mike b
OK have any of you say out of boredom or trying to be creative or just for the heck of it ever merged 2 mods into 1 or added workers (not talking about just a few) or promotions from one mod into another just to see what would happen or try something different. What happened when you did this, did it create more fun for you.Or did you go awe this sucks the heck with it.
Vladamire Dracos
Actually my current project involves merging multiple sets of data (usually a promotion or two or a handful of workers) into a single mod (a "community" real world mod project called the MNS). Once you get used to copying the info that can't be imported down and manually entering it (wrestlers alter egos, gimmicks, movesets, tag teams, start injuries, and relationships; promotions titles, TV programs, relations, stables, and events), it doesn't actually take that much effort or time to do. The biggest problem with a multi-person created world like this is that everyone has differencing opinions on stats, especially popularity. While with some of the more nebulous stats, such as Sex Appeal or Star Quality, this can be overlooked, highly differencing opinions on popularity can lead to some weird imbalances. Of course, such a problem will likely not apply if your joining mods that were created by the same person. Otherwise you're going to want to go through and make sure things look to be balancing out before you put any thought into running a half-way serious game with the data (I usually do this by setting up and running a game without having taken a booking position, so I can see how the promotions and wrestlers interact with each other over time). That said, it's great fun watching a world come together under your control and seeing how tweaking this stat two points or adjusting that contract type completely changes how that element is handled by the game engine, if you're in to that sort of thing.
