UFC-KING
GAMMA : Yamada vs. Asanovic Agustin Gonzalez vs. Paul Duffell Round 1 Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Gonzalez puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Duffell defended well. Straight right from Duffell in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Gonzalez probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Duffell gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Gonzalez. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Gonzalez by 10-9. Round 2 The two fighters touch gloves to start the round, and almost immediately come together in a clinch. There's a struggle for supremacy, but neither seems to be able to gain the advantage. They struggle all the way to the ropes, neither seems to have a clear-cut advantage when it comes to wrestling. Things stall, neither fighter seems willing to risk attempting a takedown. The referee waits thirty seconds, then pulls them apart due to the inactivity. Duffell scores with a quick single leg trip but falls right into guard. He tries to throw a couple of big punches, but completely exposes himself to a triangle. Gonzalez tightens it up and there doesn't look to be anyway out. Finally Duffell taps out. Gonzalez wins via 2nd round triangle submission with the official time being 2:21. WINNER : Agustin Gonzalez via Submission (Triangle Choke) Rick Stanley vs. Norman Pike Round 1 Stanley starts fast, firing off several crisp jabs that keep Pike on the back foot. A solid left hits gloves, but it's really just a set-up for Stanley to step in and use an uppercut. Not sure how much of it caught Pike, but certainly enough to to make him grab a clinch to stop any further punishment. Great start to the round from Stanley, it has been total domination so far. The clinch is broken, and the two fighters exchange some long range jabs that are easily avoided. Pike is looking a little lost so far, Stanley is controlling this round by virtue of his crisp accurate punches and higher aggression levels. Pike narrowly misses a right cross. Stanley leads with the left, then moves in and gets in a wicked right hand that grazes the cheek. Pike was fortunate there, if that had landed properly it would have been over. Pike comes back with a leg kick to set up a one-two combination, but the round is coming to a close and it's going to be too little too late. The one bright spot for Pike is that although Stanley clearly won the round, he didn't actually turn that dominance into any sort of real damage. End of the round. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Stanley. Round 2 There is some tentative circling to begin with, before they meet in the center for the first action of the round. It's a tight affair, both fighters heavily using the jab, but Stanley looks to get the better of it, landing with one crisp strike to the face in particular. Pike backs off, a little shaken. Replays show that it landed right on the nose. Stanley press the action, forcing Pike back against the ropes and upping the tempo with rapid-fire lefts and rights, bobbing and weaving at the same time to keep from getting caught with a counter punch. Pike clinches up. Stanley is displaying a much more accomplished and confident striking game than Pike, the technique and speed with which the punches are being delivered is leaving Pike looking ragged in comparison. The pattern continues once they've been separated, with Stanley looking the sharper of the two. He isn't overwhelming Pike by any means, but he is comfortably controlling the pace and tempo of the round, and preventing Pike from stamping any sort of mark on it. End of round 2. Blurcat.com gives that one to Stanley by 10-9. Round 3 Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Stanley puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Pike defended well. Straight right from Pike in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Stanley probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Pike gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Stanley. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Stanley. The official scores are in; two judges give 30-27, the other 29-28, all for Rick Stanley. WINNER : Rick Stanley via Unanimous Decision Truck Gleeson vs. Alan Kendall Round 1 Kendall leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Gleeson deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Gleeson uses a knee to the ribs before backing Kendall up against the ropes. Right hand from Kendall connects though, that was well timed. Gleeson breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Kendall was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Gleeson sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Kendall fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Gleeson gets a nice single leg, and transitions into a side mount. Kendall blocks an arm bar attempt, but is having trouble keeping the full mount from happening. Gleeson scores with a nice elbow, and there is the full mount. Kendall is wide open, and takes two hard punches to the face. Gleeson takes the arm. Kendall is fighting it, but it looks like it's only a matter of time. The kimura is applied, and Kendall has no choice but to tap. Gleeson wins via 1st round kimura submission with the official time being 3:34. WINNER : Truck Gleeson via Submission (Kimura) Maarten De Vries vs. Buddy Garner Round 1 Garner throws a ragged jab, missing by a mile as De Vries simply ducks under and unloads a vicious hook from below. It catches Garner square on the jaw, and he goes down! De Vries mounts and starts firing off punches, rapid-fire. The referee waits to see if Garner can recover, decides that he can't, and pulls De Vries off. The match is over. De Vries wins via 1st round TKO with the official time being 0:58. WINNER : Maarten De Vries via TKO (Punches) James Foster vs. Ari Peltonen Round 1 Peltonen may have realised that he left the gas on back at home, as he starts the round as if he needs to get this fight finished quickly, throwing two giant-sized right hand bombs and a vicious uppercut within the first thirty seconds. Foster dealt with them well though, avoiding the first two and parrying the uppercut away. Foster fakes a takedown, causing Peltonen to back up, ready to sprawl. Peltonen stalks Foster, forcing him back toward the ropes. Peltonen moves in, looking to throw another big shot, but Foster springs forward and connects with a great punch, crunching his fist into the cheek. Peltonen goes down! Foster tries to pounce and pound his way to victory, but Peltonen has enough awareness to ensnare Foster in the guard position as he dives in. The fight falls into a lull as a pattern develops; Foster punctuating attempts to pass guard with some sharp punches to the body and face, while Peltonen parries away any big blows and puts all of his effort into making sure Foster doesn't get a better position. Things heat up as Foster manages to break the guard and get through into a half mount. Peltonen hits a nice clean right hand in response. Foster throws a couple of hard punches to the stomach. He has one leg trapped, and is trying to pull that free so that he can move further up the body and really start pounding away. Peltonen knows that having the leg trapped is his key to not ending up in huge trouble, and so has it locked up tight. Foster tries a half-hearted attempt at a kimura, but Peltonen defends it well. The round ends with Foster still unable to transition into side control, although he has landed enough shots to have lit up Peltonen's upper body with red marks, and definitely won the round on points. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Foster. Round 2 Peltonen is the first to score a meaningful blow, tagging Foster with a jab to the cheek. Foster uses a nice straight left to return fire. Peltonen comes in to work the body, but Foster saw it coming and uses a quick takedown to put Peltonen onto the floor, falling into guard. Foster throws out a right hand, parried away by Peltonen. The guard is quite tight, for the moment at least Foster looks content to stay there and throw some punches. Peltonen isn't offering any sort of attacking threat yet, instead concentrating on keeping the strikes from landing. A big punch is driven into the ribs, Peltonen thought it was going for the face. Another punch lands in the same place, and a red mark starts to develop. Peltonen reaches up and pulls Foster down into a clinch, and tries to work an armbar from the bottom. Foster defends it easily, and gets in a sharp jab to the face too. He stands up slightly, leaning forward into the guard, and starts throwing some right hands. One gets through, the others are parried. Peltonen looked like he might be considering trying to apply a triangle then, as Foster was very exposed, but he didn't get a chance due to the ferocity of the punches. Foster gets back down to kneeling in the guard. Another right hand lands to the ribs. Peltonen fires off two punches from his back, but Foster defends them easily by simply leaning backward out of reach. Foster stands again, the guard remaining tight around him, and throws another couple of bombs. This time Peltonen does try to apply the triangle, and an armbar at the same time, but Foster breaks free. Time is ticking down, looks like Peltonen will survive this ground and pound attack. The round ends without further note. The 2nd round ends. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Foster. Round 3 Slow start; nearly a full minute of circling, occasional fakes, and long-range jabs. Neither fighter is creating much. Foster works an angle, but takes a low kick to the shin when he advances. They clinch, and end up with Peltonen backed up against the ropes. Foster gets a couple of right hands to the body, but his attempts at knee strikes are deflected by Peltonen, who uses his legs well to defend. Foster pulls free and takes a step back, then powers in a right hand. Peltonen gets out the way, ducks under a second right hand, and backs up to the center. Foster follows, and we're back to circling. Uninspiring action so far, they've both been fairly devoid of inspiration. Foster hits a couple of right hands, both hitting gloves, then a left hand to the body that connected. That was the best shot of the round so far. Peltonen tags him with a flicked jab to the cheek, but it had virtually no power on it. Peltonen leans in to a looping left, but it puts him off balance and it's only at the last second that he gets his chin out of the way of a vicious right cross that comes back. If that had hit, we may have had a knock out. Time runs out with them standing, circling again. The third round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Foster. The official scores are: 30-27 from all three judges for James Foster. WINNER : James Foster via Unanimous Decision Tadamasa Yamada vs. Zvonimir Asanovic for the Light-Heavyweight Title Round 1 Two jabs from the left hand of Asanovic set up a hard waist-high kick, but Yamada steps back to avoid it. Nice attempt though. Asanovic moves in closer, bobbing and weaving, and looks to score with a looping right hand, but Yamada uses the gloves to parry it away, then counter-strikes with a crisp jab and a kick to the knee. Good opening to the round, both fighters are looking lively. Asanovic finds himself backed up against the ropes briefly, and has to scramble to safety to avoid a flurry of strikes. Yamada is working for position, and is currently looking the more composed of the two. Yamada throws a stinging jab, landing just above the left eye. Asanovic steps in and fires off one of his own, but Yamada bobs out of the way and scores with a pair of solid shots to the body. Asanovic turns and swings, just as Yamada also unloads...and it's Yamada who connects first! Asanovic's hands drop and he is on rubbery legs. Yamada follows up with a beauty of a right hand, and that drops Asanovic. The referee doesn't even wait for Yamada to dive in to finish, he's seen enough, Asanovic is clearly on Dream Street. This bout is over! Official time of the TKO is 2:29 of the first round. Tadamasa Yamada is now the GAMMA Light Heavyweight champion. UFC-KING
GAMMA FIGHT NIGHT Nilsson vs. McSweegan Atep of Indonesia vs. Chojiro Goto Round 1 The fighters touch gloves, then circle. Goto throws a low kick, but it was without any conviction, it seemed designed more to keep Atep from coming inside. Goto works an angle, then comes in with a one-two combination, Atep responds with a crisp uppercut that wasn't far off from connecting. Goto backs off slightly, maybe a bit relieved not to have taken that one on the chin. Neither fighter appears to be looking for any sort of takedown or grapple, this is all about the striking. Atep circles and throws a series of high jabs, but Goto blocked them with ease, using the gloves. Goto fakes a high kick, then storms in with a wild looking right hand and a series of body shots. Atep covers up and rides out the storm, clinching to stop any further blows. It was a nice attack from Goto though, best action of the round. They stay clinched for a while, exchanging occasional punches to the ribs, then are separated by the referee. It looks like this round is going to the judges though, as there's only a few seconds remaining. Goto throws a leg kick that connects, albeit without too much force, and the round is done. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Goto. Round 2 Goto throws a stinging jab, landing just above the left eye. Atep steps in and fires off one of his own, but Goto bobs out of the way and scores with a pair of solid shots to the body. Atep turns and swings, just as Goto also unloads...and it's Goto who connects first! Atep's hands drop and he is on rubbery legs. Goto follows up with a beauty of a right hand, and that drops Atep. The referee doesn't even wait for Goto to dive in to finish, he's seen enough, Atep is clearly on Dream Street. This bout is over! Goto wins via TKO at 1:56 of the second round. WINNER : Chojiro Goto via TKO (Punch) Anthony LeToussier vs. Aleksei Chekhov Round 1 They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from LeToussier, providing the first moment of real action. Chekhov hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but LeToussier side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. Chekhov is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. End of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Chekhov by 10-9. Round 2 The fighters touch gloves, then circle. Chekhov throws a low kick, but it was without any conviction, it seemed designed more to keep LeToussier from coming inside. Chekhov works an angle, then comes in with a one-two combination, LeToussier responds with a crisp uppercut that wasn't far off from connecting. Chekhov backs off slightly, maybe a bit relieved not to have taken that one on the chin. Neither fighter appears to be looking for any sort of takedown or grapple, this is all about the striking. LeToussier circles and throws a series of high jabs, but Chekhov blocked them with ease, using the gloves. Chekhov fakes a high kick, then storms in with a wild looking right hand and a series of body shots. LeToussier covers up and rides out the storm, clinching to stop any further blows. It was a nice attack from Chekhov though, best action of the round. They stay clinched for a while, exchanging occasional punches to the ribs, then are separated by the referee. It looks like this round is going to the judges though, as there's only a few seconds remaining. Chekhov throws a leg kick that connects, albeit without too much force, and the round is done. End of round 2. Blurcat.com gives that one to Chekhov by 10-9. Round 3 Chekhov hits a jab. LeToussier responds with a huge kick that takes out Chekhov's legs, sending him crashing awkwardly to the ground. LeToussier gives on top of him and fires off a barrage of punches. Chekhov tries to cover up, but he is getting obliterated by the sheer number of punches coming down. The referee pulls LeToussier off, it's over! Official time of the TKO is 1:35 of the third round. WINNER : Anthony LeToussier via TKO (Punches) Mike Watson vs. Ashley Ballard Round 1 Ballard throws a right hand, narrowly missing. Watson almost seems to be inviting him on to throw punches, he could be trying to lure him into over-committing. Ballard throws a jab that connects, albeit without much power, but it causes Watson to back up quickly, back toward the ropes. Ballard comes in quickly, throwing looping punches, but gets reckless and Watson grabs the opportunity by nailing a big right cross! Ballard collapses in a heap, his left leg buckling underneath him in at an awkward angle. Watson has knocked him out cold with a killer punch. The official time is 1:33. WINNER : Mike Watson via KO (Punch) Carlos da Guia vs. Callum Henson Round 1 da Guia hits some tentative punches, then comes in fast and forces Henson to back up against the ropes, where they clinch. da Guia hits a nice body shot, but takes two short punches to the side of the head in return. Henson tries a trip, but it doesn't go anywhere. They separate, with da Guia having to stay sharp to avoid a scorching right hand from Henson. Henson scores with a low kick to the outside of the knee, then backs off. Those will take their toll. da Guia responds with a right hand that hits gloves, a left hook to the body that stings Henson, then throws a spectacular head kick that connects! Henson was backing off after those two punches and didn't see it coming, he goes sailing backward, his body entirely limp. da Guia has knocked Henson out cold with one brutally powerful kick. The official time is 3:25. WINNER : Carlos da Guia via KO (Head Kick) Round 1 Nilsson comes out fast, but gets hit with a counter right hand strike when he throws a left hand which was too high. McSweegan moves in and hits a nice body shot before they clinch. Nilsson gets in a short, sharp jab to the side of the head, it looked to hit right on the ear. McSweegan didn't like that, and scores with two knee strikes and a punch to the cheek. They break apart. McSweegan swings and hits a nice right hand. Nilsson fires off a series of sharp jabs, all hitting gloves. He throws out a looping left, but gets tagged with a punch to the jaw and stumbles to the ground! McSweegan dives in to finish him off, but he scrambles back up quickly and they end up facing off on their feet again. Replays show that the punch barely connected, it was more of a stumble on Nilsson's part than anything else. It might not look that way to the judges though. McSweegan looks more confident after that, and puts together a nice chain of strikes, ending with a scathing low kick that catches Nilsson on the outside of the calf. He definitely felt that. Time is running out; McSweegan will probably take this round on the judges' score cards, primarily due to that one dubious knock down. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 McSweegan. Round 2 Slow start; nearly a full minute of circling, occasional fakes, and long-range jabs. Neither fighter is creating much. McSweegan works an angle, but takes a low kick to the shin when he advances. They clinch, and end up with Nilsson backed up against the ropes. McSweegan gets a couple of right hands to the body, but his attempts at knee strikes are deflected by Nilsson, who uses his legs well to defend. McSweegan pulls free and takes a step back, then powers in a right hand. Nilsson gets out the way, ducks under a second right hand, and backs up to the center. McSweegan follows, and we're back to circling. Uninspiring action so far, they've both been fairly devoid of inspiration. McSweegan hits a couple of right hands, both hitting gloves, then a left hand to the body that connected. That was the best shot of the round so far. Nilsson tags him with a flicked jab to the cheek, but it had virtually no power on it. Nilsson leans in to a looping left, but it puts him off balance and it's only at the last second that he gets his chin out of the way of a vicious right cross that comes back. If that had hit, we may have had a knock out. Time runs out with them standing, circling again. The 2nd round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for McSweegan. Round 3 An exchange of jabs doesn't go anywhere. McSweegan fakes a kick, then darts in to score with a straight left before backing out fast to avoid a left-right combination from Nilsson. They clinch, and Nilsson winds up backed against the ropes. A couple of minor blows get exchanged, but it's turned into a bit of a stalemate. McSweegan tries to push Nilsson back, but can't. The referee waits a while, then separates them and gets them to resume. McSweegan clinches. They go down in an awkward moment, not sure what was going on then. McSweegan is in the guard of Nilsson. He moves into a side mount, and Nilsson didn't do much to stop it. McSweegan brings down a hard shot, but it deflects of the forearms of Nilsson. McSweegan looks for a kimura, but Nilsson shifts his weight and sweeps McSweegan. Nilsson now has a half mount. McSweegan tries a sweep of his own, but Nilsson blocks it, and then gets into a full mount. Nilsson takes one arm, fights off a big effort by McSweegan to block it, and cinches in a armbar. McSweegan tries to get free, but is stuck, and is forced to tap out. Nilsson wins via armbar submission at 3:50 of the third round. UFC-KING
GAMMA Morrison vs. Yamamoto UNDERCARD Isiah Gay vs. Marcus Speed Round 1 Gay throws two high punches, then steps in for a hook to the body. Nice combination, but Speed defended with ease. They clinch up next to the ropes, but a short struggle only ends with them separating and coming back in. Gay clinches with Speed. A quick trip sends Speed falling backward, pulling guard to take Gay down with him. Gay tries to pass the guard. Speed is holding it quite high, which is helping. Gay throws a couple of loose punches, then grabs the legs and turns Speed over. Speed tries to scramble free, but Gay is already on top of him and has his back! Gay doesn't waste any time, he starts throwing bombs with both left and right fists, slamming them into the side of Speed's head. He is trying to cover up, but a lot of shots are getting through. The referee is watching closely. A vicious right hand thunders into the ear of Speed, then another to the side of the nose. That's all the referee wants to see, he pulls Gay off. Gay wins via 1st round TKO with the official time being 1:43. WINNER : Isiah Gay via TKO (Punches) Claudio Palacios vs. Del Chen Round 1 Palacios hits some tentative punches, then comes in fast and forces Chen to back up against the ropes, where they clinch. Palacios hits a nice body shot, but takes two short punches to the side of the head in return. Chen tries a trip, but it doesn't go anywhere. They separate, with Palacios having to stay sharp to avoid a scorching right hand from Chen. Palacios pushes Chen up against the ropes in a clinch. Palacios throws a knee, then a couple of short punches to the side of the head. Chen pushes him away and steps in to score with an uppercut. Palacios took it flush on the chin and is rocked! Another right hand drops Palacios against the ropes, and Chen follows up by unloading with a barrage of punches. The referee gets in and pulls Chen away, he wins the match by TKO. Official time of the TKO is 4:25 of the first round. WINNER : Del Chen via TKO (Punches) Cesar Pearson vs. Nathan Chambers Round 1 Chambers starts fast, coming out almost immediately with a three punch combination. None of them get through, and Pearson manages to squeeze a jab of his own through and score just above the left cheek. They exchange a flurry of blows right in the center, it's difficult to see who got the best of it, and both of them retreat a few steps to recover. Good start to the round, early indications are that this is going to be all about the striking, neither fighter has even hinted at going for a takedown. Pearson uses a low kick to set up a nice right hand, and Chambers is forced back against the ropes. Pearson picks his shots and gets a big punch to the body in. Chambers uses a couple of looping punches to make Pearson keep back, but it doesn't last for long, as Pearson bursts forward and hits two big right hands, taking a counter punch to the body though, and they wind up in a clinch. They exchange weak-looking blows from that position, before the referee grows tired of the inactivity and breaks them apart. Chambers scores with a low kick. Chambers looks to be working an angle. Pearson unwinds a right hook that narrowly misses. That will be the last action of the round though. End of round 1. Blurcat.com gives that one to Pearson by 10-9. Round 2 They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from Chambers, providing the first moment of real action. Pearson hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but Chambers side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. Pearson is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Pearson. Round 3 Chambers throws a nice series of straight rights from the start, bobbing and weaving to keep Pearson from landing anything in return. None of the punches got through though, Pearson parried them away. Nice crisp start to the round though. The two fighters clinch up, ending up struggling next to the ropes, with the referee watching intently to make sure there are no rules being bent during the grappling match. Pearson gets in a cheeky right hand, but that's all the offence he can generate from the clinch before Chambers sweeps his legs and takes him down to the ground. Chambers breaks the guard and stands up, leaving Pearson on his back. Pearson tries to keep Chambers back with some up-kicks, Chambers has to be careful not to get caught with them, they have power. Chambers fakes a dive, pushes the legs to one side, and gets side control. Pearson tries to turn into it so that he can pull guard, but Chambers isn't allowing it, and traps both arms, creating a crucifix position. Chambers starts throwing punches to the face, Pearson having no arms free to block them. Big shot from Chambers, that caught Pearson on the chin as he momentarily lifted his head while trying to struggle free. Pearson is out like a light. The referee jumps in, this is over. Chambers wins via 3rd round knock out with the official time being 1:59. WINNER : Nathan Chambers via KO (Punch) Xie Ming vs. Alberto Basora Round 1 Slow start to the round, nearly a minute has gone by without anything but a few jabs finding gloves. Basora comes in, looking for a grapple it seems, but takes a powerful kick just above the left hip. Ming really put some venom into that strike. Basora backs off, clearly stung. Ming is the one advancing now, using a left hand jab to lead. He steps forward and fires off a big kick, aimed at the head. Basora ducks and moves out of range, but that was clearly intended to be a match-ender, Ming was going for the knock out. It's pretty clear that he thinks that kicks are going to do the job in this round, and it has to be said that Basora is looking to have a hard time countering them. On top of that, the threat of the kicks is keeping Basora from getting in too close. Ming stalks Basora, throwing the occasional high right hand, perhaps range-finding. Basora is circling, seeking an opening of some kind. He moves in from the left and is quick enough to get into the clinch without taking any shots. Ming hits a knee, but takes one right back. The kicks aren't a danger from this position, that's for sure. Ming squirms free, but foolishly lost his concentration for a second and took a hard right hand above the eye in the process. Silly mistake. Basora comes in, looking more confident now, and gets in a couple of right hands and a lovely hook to the body. Ming tags him with a jab though, and then hits another fearsome kick to the same spot above the left hip. And another! Basora backs off, and a huge red mark has appeared in that spot. Ming advances and throws another head kick, but it is mostly blocked by the hands of Basora. The round is drawing to a close, and those kicks have certainly proved massively effective for Ming. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Ming by 10-9. Round 2 Ming starts fast, unleashing a bomb of a right hand, but Basora avoids it without too much trouble. Ming isn't disheartened though, swinging two more huge punches, with Basora getting out the way each time, but being forced all over the place. Ming finally backs off a little, breathing hard. That was quite a frantic start. Basora opts to use that, and comes in to throw some jabs. Ming is backed up against the ropes, covering up. Basora clinches. They struggle, and the fight enters a lull. Ming hits a knee strike to the hip. Basora slips one leg behind Ming and uses that as leverage for a big trip. Ming landed hard, with Basora on top. They're in half guard. It's to Ming's advantage that they're right next to the ropes, that is blocking Basora from attacking the left hand side of the body. Ming is forced into action to defend a kimura attempt. Basora tries to step over to mount, but Ming keeps his legs in position and ends up almost rolled into a ball. Basora fires some stiff punches to the back, then one to the face. He reaches through and tries to secure an armbar, but has to be careful as he is in danger of getting picked off with a counter armbar too. Ming doesn't appear to be trying that though, instead trying to shift his weight so that he can get back up. Basora isn't allowing it though, and gets a couple more punches in before settling back into half guard. Ming ties him up in a snug clinch. The action halts, and time expires before Basora can get free. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Basora. Round 3 Slow start to the round, there's a lot of circling going on, not much contact though. Ming fakes a kick, then darts in to score with a left hand to the shoulder region. Basora almost catches Ming with a massive left hook. A big arcing kick from Ming catches Basora on the shoulder, it wasn't far away from landing on the side of the jaw. Basora storms in throwing a flurry of blows, but Ming dodges out of the way. A jab catches Basora on the cheek, then another big kick hits home, this time into the ribs. Ming is really using those big kicks well, they're both keeping Basora at bay and hurting him. Basora tries another attack, first working an angle away from the kicks then coming in with a couple of straight rights. Ming defends it well, parrying the punches away and moving to safety before Basora can unload with any bombs. Ming hits another kick, this time to the thigh, setting it up with a couple of raking punches. That's the last significant action of the round, a round that Ming has dominated with kicks. The round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Ming. Xie Ming wins, with a score of 29-28 from two judges, 30-27 from the other. WINNER : Xie Ming via Unanimous Decision MAIN CARD Andrew Rush vs. Neil Napier Round 1 Rush starts brightly, almost hunting Napier down by stalking him around the ring. Napier throws some jabs, but they don't have the range to hit. Rush hits the first good strike, slicing a nasty-looking kick to the hip area. Napier throws a left hook in response, but it is easily parried. Rush hits another kick, this time to the calf of Napier's front leg. The kicks that Rush has been throwing are looking really good, they're sharp, accurate, and difficult to see coming. Napier will need to figure out a counter, as currently he is being picked apart. Napier moves in quickly and grabs a clinch. They struggle like that for a full minute, exchanging short, sharp blows, but without doing any real damage. The referee gets them to part. Napier tags Rush with a straight left. Rush ducks a second one, hits a jab, then whips out a quick kick that hits perfectly to the inside of the knee of the front leg. The leg buckles, and Napier is down to one knee briefly, but quickly up before Rush can take his head off with another kick. Napier is limping slightly, that kick was beautifully judged. Napier throws a couple of big right hands, but they're easily avoided. Rush starts working angle to throw more low kicks, Napier is keeping away from them. Rush seems content not to push the action too much, he looks a bit tired from throwing all those kicks. The round ends without further major action. The first round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Rush by 10-9. Round 2 The round starts slowly, with both fighters circling, tentatively throwing out the occasional jab. Napier is the first to make a positive move, stepping in to throw a right hand, although he probably wishes that he hadn't, as Rush picks him off with a crisp jab to the cheek. Napier throws a wild punch as a counter, but Rush ducks and backs off out of range. They meet again in the center for an exchange of punches. Napier gets a clubbing blow to the side of the head in, but takes a hard shot to the stomach in return. The early pattern seems to be that Napier is looking for big punches, Rush is happy to avoid them and use quick counter punches instead. They clinch up, and Napier manages to back Rush up against the ropes. Napier takes a half step backward and throws a big right hand to the head, but Rush ducks under at the last second, scores with a pair of punches to the gut, then darts out of trouble before Napier can unload. Napier may need to think about changing tactics, Rush is looking far sharper in these striking battles, and is beginning to control the pace and tempo of the round. Napier fakes a right hand, then shoots out a low kick, catching Rush on the thigh. Rush presses forward for the first time, getting in close and using a couple of jabs to the body. Napier gets a nice left hook in, glancing off the gloves, and then clinches up. Time ticks away and the round ends just a few seconds after the referee separates them. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Rush. Round 3 Napier comes out fast, and looks like he is aiming for a quick takedown, but Rush stops that plan with some looping punches. Solid right hand from Rush connects, and that's the best moment of the opening minute of the round. Napier is mainly defending against punches, it looks like he is trying to work an angle to try for a takedown. Rush seems to have noticed, as he is purposely positioning against that. Straight left from Rush, then a low kick, then a wicked body shot. Napier felt that, and backs off. Napier tries to get in for a clinch, perhaps looking for a takedown from that position, but Rush gets him to back off with some jabs. Rush has really been able to stamp his gameplan on this round, Napier has been blocked at every turn. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Rush. All three judges give a score of 30-27 to Andrew Rush. WINNER : Andrew Rush via Unanimous Decision Patrick Thomas vs. Fernando Amaro Round 1 They start the round with an exchange of strikes, all from fairly long range as they circle and try to work angles. None of the blows did any damage, either missing or being straight into the opponent's gloves. Amaro is the first to land a worthwhile blow, hitting a straight right that catches Thomas on the side of the cheek. Amaro follows up by backing him up against the ropes, throws a couple of big punches, but gets pulled into a clinch without doing any serious damage. Thomas goes for a trip and almost gets it, but Amaro is able to regain his footing at the last moment. Thomas has Amaro against the ropes, and hits three right hands to the side of the ribs. Amaro reaches down and picks up a leg, using that as leverage to topple Thomas, who pulls guard. Amaro starts pounding away and does some damage before Thomas grapples and pulls him down into a clinch. Thomas has both of Amaro's arms tied up, preventing much in the way of attacking action. Amaro uses some shoulder shrugs to the face, but Thomas isn't going to be too bothered by that. Amaro pulls one arm free. Thomas still has tight control of the other, and brings his legs up, trying to apply an armbar. Amaro sees it coming and blocks it easily, getting in a couple of punches for good measure. Amaro steps through the legs and forces Thomas to release the arm so that he can cover up against a series of strikes. Thomas manages to ensare one leg though, and so Amaro has to make do with being in half guard instead of getting the full mount that he wanted. Amaro hits a couple of punches, takes one back, then attempts to get side control. Thomas keeps him at bay. Time is ticking away, if Amaro is going to use this position to finish the match, it had better be done soon. Amaro pulls Thomas's left arm to one side and straightens it out, perhaps looking to turn it into an armbar. Thomas rolls over to stop the arm getting trapped. Amaro continues to work for it though. Time expires though, the round is over. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Amaro by 10-9. Round 2 Amaro scores with a low kick to the outside of the knee, then backs off. Those will take their toll. Thomas responds with a right hand that hits gloves, a left hook to the body that stings Amaro, then throws a spectacular head kick that connects! Amaro was backing off after those two punches and didn't see it coming, he goes sailing backward, his body entirely limp. Thomas has knocked Amaro out cold with one brutally powerful kick. The official time is 0:29. WINNER : Patrick Thomas via KO (Head Kick) TB : He's not going to be able to stop me, I'm too fast, and too big for him JC : He thinks that height and weight is going to be a factor for this fight, When you are on the ground with me, I'm on just another level. Our Referee for this fight is James Owens Jeff Carlton vs. Tim Boyer Round 1 Slow start to the round. We're nearly a minute in before Carlton throws the first meaningful punch, trying to squeeze a fizzing jab through to Boyer's jaw, but it is parried. Boyer steps in, but has to quickly side-step to avoid a straight right. Carlton moves in to throw some body punches but gets clipped with a big right hand. It was partially blocked, it would have been a potential knock out if that had hit home on the chin, Boyer put a lot of weight behind it. Carlton hits a nice jab, then clinches. Boyer hits a knee, takes a punch to the ribs, then breaks free. Carlton hits a low kick to the leg. Boyer bursts forward and scores with a big right hand to the body, then a left hook. Carlton goes down! Good shot from Boyer! He tries to follow up and pound on Carlton, but Carlton is up really quickly and covers up to block the two jabs that come in. Boyer, sensing that Carlton is rattled, starts coming forward with more urgency. Carlton ends up backed up against the ropes. Boyer gets within range, fakes a left, then lunges in with a huge right hand. It is partially parried by Carlton, who wisely clinches up tightly to get some time to recover. The power that Boyer has in his hands is really posing Carlton some problems. The clinch drags on, with Boyer unable to break free, and the round ends like that. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Boyer. Round 2 Carlton is forced onto the backfoot almost immediately, having to retreat to avoid a series of sharp jabs. He ends up with his back to the ropes, with Boyer advancing. A sharp right misses, and Carlton takes the opportunity to pull Boyer in to a tight clinch against the ropes. Boyer tries to break free, but cannot. It looks like we know the strategies for this round already; Boyer wants to stand and bang, Carlton wants to keep things at close quarters. Boyer tries for an elbow, but only succeeds in getting turned around so that he is now the one against the ropes. Trip from Carlton, and we're down to the ground. Carlton has side control, but Boyer has landed with his left hand side against the ropes, so that side of the body is basically safe for now. Carlton will have to try to work the right-hand side, and starts by ramming a knee into the ribs. Boyer tries to squirm into a better position, but Carlton puts a stop to that with a stiff elbow to the stomach. Carlton tries to work a kimura on the right arm, but Boyer defends it. Boyer manages to bring a knee up and catch Carlton in the side, something of a cheeky move given his position. Carlton responds with five or six rapid-fire right hands to the face, but Boyer covers up and doesn't take any serious damage at all. Time is ticking away though, and so far Carlton may be easily winning the round, but he is not taking full advantage of this great position. Carlton tries to float over into a mount, but Boyer uses the ropes to push away and manages to unbalance Carlton enough to get to a kneeling position, then standing, albeit back into a clinch. A knee from Carlton is the last action of the round. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Carlton by 10-9. Round 3 Boyer doesn't waste any time, scoring with a big right hook almost immediately. Carlton was caught sleeping, and that really landed hard, if it had been more accurate it might have been a knock out blow. Carlton hits two sharp body shots in return, but it's clear that he is rattled. Carlton is looking the slightly more fit of the two fighters. They get in close and exchange punches, it's not clear who got the better of that. Boyer hits a good looping punch to the side of the head, that's another one that's rattled Carlton. Boyer is getting more force behind his punches at the moment, and that's the key difference. A looping left from Boyer, but it's wide of the mark. Time ticks away, and Carlton offers nothing that would make you think that he has any chance of winning this round on points. End of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Boyer by 10-9. The official scores are: 29-28 (twice), 30-27 for Tim Boyer. WINNER : Tim Boyer via Unanimous Decision SM : I'm the Lightweight Champion, I'm not expected to lose this fight.
