Woodsmeister Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/wrestling/article2021005.ece the suns (a UK newspaper) is reporting that Joey Styles decked JBL backstage following a drunken JBL on slaught. if its true its pretty funny, well done Joey lol "OMG" F'em Up Joey, F'em Up!! P.S. i just realised it was posted under the i have a gift for you GDS post further down, which i didnt check before hand sorry those who love to flame.
AfRoMaN36 Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Always pleasant to see the school bully get what's coming to him by the AV clubber every now and then. He seriously needed to be knocked down a few pegs. Maybe next time he wants to pick on someone he'd knock out a couple crunches before he to knock them out.
shamelessposer Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I read the thread title and thought "What were AJ Styles and JBL even doing in the same room? And that's awfully dumb of AJ, given the size advantage JBL has on him..." Then I read the thread. JOEY ****ING STYLES! OH MY GOD!

Tha Black Phenom Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Story of the year. In an update, they reported JBL dumped a bucket of ice on Lillian Garcia during the tour as well. Good Lord, lol.
shamelessposer Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Story of the year. In an update, they reported JBL dumped a bucket of ice on Lillian Garcia during the tour as well. Good Lord, lol. JBL is more than a little bit of a dick. As far as I can tell, his employment over the last ten years has been for being too unmarketable to be stolen away by Eric Bischoff. (See also: Mark Calloway)
Guest Ransik Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I'll never understand why all these people JBL has been abusing over the years simply do not go to a lawyer... and send that lawyer into McMahon's office. For the WWE to never do anything about this, is a form of harassment and with enough people stepping up to the plate and speaking up... JBL could be sued for millions and the WWE as well for negligence. The high school BS of the WWE locker room needs to die. Joking around is fun.... a few harmless pranks are entertaining... but this "hazing" crap is gonna get someone hurt or killed eventually.
darthsiddus2 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 because JBL has locker room clout..... and if you do **** to him you'll be in "wrestlers court" with the undertaker

(See also: Mark Calloway) do not put Mark Calloway in the same sentance as Joey Bitch-slapped Looser otherwise known as JBL
Guest The Aussie Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 because JBL has locker room clout..... and if you do **** to him you'll be in "wrestlers court" with the undertaker Styles will get off; He'll just tape his fists and Undertaker will get the message.
shamelessposer Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 do not put Mark Calloway in the same sentance as Joey Bitch-slapped Looser otherwise known as JBL I'm just saying that the reason Calloway didn't jump ship to WCW is because Bischoff didn't think he was worth anything without the gimmick. If I recall correctly, it was well documented and came up a few years ago.
Guest Ransik Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 because JBL has locker room clout..... and if you do **** to him you'll be in "wrestlers court" with the undertaker The only way I would be afraid of Undertaker is inside a wrestling ring where I screwed up and hurt him... a wrestler's court? Nah... there's a point where the code of "the boys" ends and a 40-something year old man needs to grow the hell up or get sued for all his hard-earned money. What would happen if JBL tripped someone "for fun" backstage at RAW and they broke their arm? It would ruin WWE's plans... it would cause WWE to pay medical bills... heaven forbid if one day someone does something really stupid for a "joke" and someone gets killed over it, simply because the person playing the "joke" was never told to act their age.
darthsiddus2 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 nobody wants to be labled as the locker-room stooge though. you wouldn't tell Ricky Steamboat JBL tripped you would you? don't get me wrong I'm not defending the guy. I just like everybody else things JBL needs to be taken down a peg or two.

Yeah I would, and I would let Vince know I'd be talking to a lawyer about JBL right away and to expect both of us gone for a few court dates down the road.
James Casey Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 And say goodbye to your WWE career, most of your friends and any chance of a long career in the industry afterwards? From the accounts that I've heard, the atmosphere backstage in WWE is a very laddish one. You take your lumps, you don't complain, and if you screw up you end up in wrestler court. This sort of thing doesn't often end up going public. A lot of the time even the management won't hear about it. Someone who made a big fuss about this sort of thing could quickly be dropped, and find how few friends and prospects they might have in a business where they suddenly have a reputation for being more trouble than they're worth. For better or worse, wrestlers tend to deal with their problems among themselves. The idea of a wrestler suing for a relatively minor injury suffered backstage at the hands of another worker is about as likely as someone forming a wrestlers' union. Look at what happened when Blue Meanie got jumped by JBL live on pay-per-view - he took a job with WWE and got canned a few weeks later, his desire for justice apparently appeased. Should it be different? Yes. Is it ever likely to change? I doubt it. WWE's origins can be traced back to the days of fairground wrestling, after all, and it's a very insular, cliqueish society. Anyone making much noise backstage will get cut. Saying that, there is that lawsuit brought by Raven and the others. That might change things, if it ever ends up anywhere near court. Even a losing trial would put significant focus on the way WWE operates, I suspect.
darthsiddus2 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 that lawsuit was summarily dismissed with prejudice apparently
Guest Ransik Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Well Casey, you explained why it won't change.... because no one does anything about it. As for Meanie, I'm sure the WWE knew that Meanie could've filed charges, which is why they offered him a job. Other problem is that if you're suing your employer.... or even a fellow employee... by law you cannot be fired while the lawsuit is still in action. Also, I wouldn't consider a broken bone a minor injury for "a prank". Sorry but I'm a "put 'em in their place" type of a guy. JBL would try pulling crap on me one time and he'd never try it again.

Probably why he tries to find weaker victims. Be it a weaker situation, or weaker backbone. I doubt he'd try to bully Trips or even someone like Jeff or Matt. They know they don't have to take that crap. Someone like Joey Styles or Lilian though...

True, but I doubt Trips, Jeff or Matt would've punched him in the face for it... I could see Hunter doing it simply due to political pull but Matt wouldn't the way he's always being treated for issues. Lillian would be easy to get back on... all she would have to do is keep messing up on his intros. Calling him "John Butthole Layfield" for a few weeks might drop the hint.

Well Styles probably couldn't go to the teacher, erm bosses, so he did what any cornered school child would do. He knocked his ass out. Go Joey!
Bad Luck Brett Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 because JBL has locker room clout..... and if you do **** to him you'll be in "wrestlers court" with the undertaker Just my outside observer's opinion on this situation, I'm going to guess that this will not put Styles in anyone's dog house and I'm even willing to bet that this probably gaines Styles some respect with Taker and many others in the locker room. Why is it, when we here these stories from the rumor sites, that it's always guys like Styles, Garcia, the Divas or people like The Rougeau Brothers back in the day who are the victims of the harshest locker room bullies. It's because they are small people in a giant's world. I'm sure someone like Khali doesn't have all that much "clout" in the locker room, but there is also good reason you don't read about harsh ribs on him. Who in their right mind would think Joey would even think about throwing a potato to Bradshaw, but he did, and I guarantee because he did, that you'll be reading about JBL taking Styles out to a steak dinner before you read about another rib gone too far on Joey. I'm not saying the atmosphere of any pro-wrestling locker room is anything close to being a model working environment, but it is what it is, and I for one am glad that it is one of the few things that hasn't been pussified and fallen prey to the current PC culture that is upon us.

I agreed with everything you said up until this paragraph. This to me just seems like typical male macho bs. If I have to go to work and fear getting harassed, than there is something wrong with the environment and management needs to step in. Good natured ribbing is fine. Joking on your buddy is one thing where you both get a kick out of it, crapping in there gym bags (not JBL btw), dumping ice on them, and harassing them until they get to the point of popping you one in the face, is no good. I don't care where you work, whether it's something relatively feminine like ballet, or something driven by male testosterone like professional wrestling, I shouldn't have to go to work fearing for my own well being. When I feel like someone is giving me a hard time at work, I don't do with a "code of silence." Or fight back. That doesn't solve anything and in turn will only cause more problems for me, I go right to my manager. And if he doesn't do anything, I can drop the biggest lawsuit my company has ever seen. It's not PC. It's not tolorating non sense. I clock in to work, not to be bullied.
