sabataged Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Which type of dynasty are you more likely to read? One that is really detailed and types everything out vivdly so you can really feel like you are there? Or one that basically just gives a brief run down of what happen. More like a recap then a show.
Thriller Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I'd go for either, as long as the backstory is good and continues in the diary I don't mind how the results are presented. There's nothing worse than a great backstory and then just results after results after results. Although if I had to choose I'd go for somewhere in between.
dvdWarrior Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I'm fine with either, myself, but I always seem to like the extended ones better, especially when they're really well done. I think they'd be a bit harder to keep up though, more work and everything, (could be wrong). Both styles are good though.
FINisher Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 It depends. A lot of times I get turned off by weird font/colour choosing, or if someone uses images to show results (No offence!). But that's just me. I like Casey's MAW diary aswell Tigerkinneys diaries as they are clean and easy to read. So it's not that much of how extended/recap the diary is, all that matters is the lay-out. As long as it's readable and interesting, it's all good.
FlameSnoopy Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Here in GDS I prefer Recap's. But that's just because my english ain't so good, and I really can't think the all the spots in my head, just because it's english. So recap's for me, but not too short.
LFC_chris Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Personally I never read the actual match reports, I just skip to the result. I'm only really interested in the storylines/feuds, but that may just be because I'm not a wrestling fan.
Stennick Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Personally I never read any of the recap dynasty's. I can't get emotionally invested in three lines of story for each feud. I prefer long written promos, well written match summaries varying in size depending on match importance.
Comradebot Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 You know, I can't get into the "recap" dynasties. Ones with actual write-ups require writing talent to be interesting. Anybody can cut and paste what they booked and who won the match. And, typically, those ARE the diaries you'll see where the game goes for years and years... but that's because its much simpler to do. I'm writing up an EWA show right now, and honestly... if I simply did something like "Haiti Voodude defeated Greg Keith in 6:12" I'd probably be caught up to the half a year in advance that I am with the actual game. Instead, I'm a masochist and end up writing far more than I originally planned. But when people compliment it, or I'm simply proud of creations like "The Alpha Norwegian" Bam Bam Johansson (though I'll never call him an original character, as he's just a Norwegian Brucie) then I truly enjoy this. Oh, and writing for Spiros the Mighty II... can't wait for a segment involving him in about a month's worth of shows, as it is glorious!
