MrCanada Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 GAMMA 1 Results Jesse Taylor defeated Cale Yarbrough DUD Jesse Taylor wins the match, getting a score of 30-27 from all three judges. Din Thomas defeated Duane Ludwig * --ROUND 3--Thomas scores with a nice elbow, and there is the full mount. Ludwig is wide open, and takes two hard punches to the face. Thomas takes the arm. Ludwig is fighting it, but it looks like it's only a matter of time. The kimura is applied, and Ludwig has no choice but to tap. The official time of the kimura submission is 1:55 of round 3. Edwin Dewees defeated Kyle Kingsbury DUD --ROUND 1--Dewees is firing off punches while kneeling across Kingsbury's upper body in a half-mount, and there's not a lot Kingsbury can do about it. He needs to get out of there, or at least pull guard, but can do neither as he can't get his hips free. Dewees rains down the punches even faster, and Kingsbury is just getting pounded into oblivion; even though he managed to block three quarters of the shots coming in, that's still five or six good shots that have gotten through. Those five or six shots are enough for the referee at any rate, as he calls an end to the match, obviously feeling that Kingsbury was getting overwhelmed by that barrage. Dewees wins via 1st round TKO with the official time being 2:48. Marvin Eastman defeated Travis Lutter * The official scores are in; two judges give 29-28, the other 30-27, all for Marvin Eastman. Shane Nelson defeated John Polakowski DUD All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Shane Nelson. Josh Hendricks defeated Brad Imes * --ROUND 1--Imes hits a knee to the ribs, then a second. He goes to the well once too often though, as the third knee gets caught, and Hendricks uses it for leverage to complete a takedown, ending up in Imes's guard. Hendricks drops a bomb of a right hand, smashing into the hands of Imes and forcing them back into his face. Another right hand finds its way through, landing right above the eye, stunning Imes. With his opponent's wits scrambled, Hendricks moves from the guard into a mount with ease, and starts unloading with rights and lefts. Imes tries to cover up, but is getting decimated, and the referee is forced to come in and pull Hendricks off, signalling the win. Hendricks wins via TKO at 2:25 of the first round. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou defeated Seth Petruzelli ** --ROUND 3--Petruzelli ducks a right hand, but steps forward right into a brutal left cross! Sokoudjou put so much power on that swing that he almost floored himself. Petruzelli goes down, stunned. Sokoudjou dives on top and starts punching away, landing several big shots. The referee has seen enough, and pulls Sokoudjou off, ending the match. Official time of the TKO is 1:19 of the third round. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira wins the GAMMA Light Heavyweight title defeating Tito Ortiz *** --ROUND 1--The two fighters meet in the center with an exchange of jabs, but neither gets anything but gloves or air. They go right into a clinch, with only a few seconds of the match gone. Ortiz gets a knee to the ribs in, but it wasn't particularly hard. They break. Tentative long range jabs from both fighters. Ortiz with a low sweeping kick, but it was telegraphed. Nogueira comes in quick but misses a kick. Ortiz with a straight right, another, but then walks right into a solid punch. That certainly connected, the crowd could clearly hear it. Ortiz backs up quickly, almost on instinct; his hands are down by his side, and he looks glassy eyed and unsteady on his feet. The referee quickly steps in and ends the fight, stopping Nogueira from following up. It'll go down as a TKO for Nogueira. As Nogueira celebrates, the doctor is quickly in to check on Ortiz. From the looks of things, he may have been dealt a concussion with that punch to the jaw, as he doesn't look like he knows where he is. The official time of the TKO is 1:31 of round 1. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is the new GAMMA Light Heavyweight champion. Pete Sprat and Jorge Gurgel both retired. Josh Thomson retained the GAMMA Lightweight title defeating Gilbert Melendez *** --ROUND 2--Melendez ducks a right hand, but steps forward right into a brutal left cross! The referee has seen enough, and pulls Thomson off, ending the match. The official time of the TKO is 1:32 of round 2. Josh Thomson retains the GAMMA Lightweight title. I'm shocked at Daniel Puder's win over Josh Hendricks. I've been waiting for Puder to take a loss at heavyweight in hopes of dropping him down to light heavyweight, but if he keeps winning I see no reason for that to happen. Lots of stars vs. cans on this card, but the hype warranted them. Some more interesting matches are in the future for sure as the cans slowly get weeded out and I'm only left with contenders. Jesse Taylor, Cale Yarbrough, & Brandon Sene were released from their contracts. The UFC recentley had some good stars leave their company. Demian Maia is my main target but I have sent offers to all of the stars who have left, including: Pete Sell, Matt Grice, & Terry Etim. Also it appears Sam Stout will be leaving soon and I'll be going after him as well. Ariel Sexton defeated Duane Ludwig ** --ROUND 3--Sexton is looking to get a crucifix, which Ludwig is fighting while simultaneously trying to roll his hips to either pull guard to get back up. Neither happens, as Sexton lets him roll, but cleverly stays with him, taking his back as a result. Ludwig turtles up, but not before taking a brutal punch just below the left ear. The crowd certainly reacted to that shot. Sexton, clearly sensing it's time to kill this match off, starts throwing bombs from either side, smashing into the side of Ludwig's face. Ludwig tries to cover up, but it's futile; the referee pulls Sexton off to save Ludwig from any further punishment. The official time is 1:07. Kimbo hits a wicked uppercut, taking Barnett completely by surprise, then starts wailing away with lefts and rights. He is backed up against the cage and Trigg is unloading. The punches are raining down, Filho is covering up. The referee has seen enough and stops the fight, clearly feeling that Filho was unable to defend himself intelligently. Trigg wins. Official time of the TKO is 3:53 of the first. Frank Trigg retains the GAMMA Middleweight title. I used the editor to drop Amir Sadollah back to middleweight, as I feel he's quite undersized for light heavy and is so far doing well in the game. Dont think he'd compete well against many other fighters at light heavyweight. With that said, some other middleweights will be moving up to light heavyweight, but only the willing. Duane Ludwig & Kyle Kingsbury were both released from their contracts. Matt Brown, Sam Stout, & Josh Neer join the list of stars who have recently left the UFC. I've extended an offer there ways. I've recently managed to sign up all of, Damian Maia, Pete Sell, Matt Grice, & Terry Etim. If it wasn't for caliber fighters becoming available I'd likely be more patient with someone like Duane Ludwig or Kyle Kingsbury. I'm hoping to run a card in Canada soon. Hopefully it will feature many of the Canadians on my roster, which is ever expanding. As it stands now it might be a TV special and focus on only fights with Canadians in them. George St. Pierre, Kalib Starnes, Joe Doerksen, David Loiseau, & hopefully Sam Stout. Randy Couture has retired and been inducted into the Blurcat HOF. I'm going after him to serve as a commentator and am hoping to get a TV show soon. John Polakowski defeated Ed West DUD John Polakowski wins, with a score of 30-27 from two judges, 29-28 from the other. Daniel Puder defeated Analu Brash * The official scores are: 30-27 from all three judges for Daniel Puder. Jason Lambert defeated Gerald Harris * Lambert tags him with a right hand to the left eye as he dodges away from the clinch, looking like he wants to keep away from a grappling match at this point. Harris goes to follow, then stops slightly. The referee calls for the clock to be stopped, and goes over to look at Harris. It's hard to see what the problem is at the moment. A close-up shows that there's blood on his face. Replays show that with Lambert's last punch, the tape from his gloves may have caused a cut. It looks like it's actually on Harris's eyelid, and that the blood is getting straight into his eyes. If that is the case, Harris might not be able to continue, as his vision would be compromised. The doctor takes a look, and is shaking his head. Harris looks really upset about that. The referee has little choice though, and calls a stop to the match, meaning that Lambert will win by medical stoppage thanks to a fluke cut. The official time is 1:53. Marcus Aurelio defeated Matt Grice ** --ROUND 3--Grice throws a ragged jab, missing by a mile as Aurelio simply ducks under and unloads a vicious hook from below. It catches Grice square on the jaw, and he goes down! Aurelio mounts and starts firing off punches, rapid-fire. The referee waits to see if Grice can recover, decides that he can't, and pulls Aurelio off. The match is over. Aurelio wins via 3rd round TKO with the official time being 1:30. Nick Diaz defeated Edilberto de Oliveira ** The three judges all give the match as 29-28 to Nick Diaz. Murilo Rua defeated Edwin Dewees ** --ROUND 2--Ninja pulls guard, and it's a particulary high one, Dewees has to be careful that he doesn't get careless and end up in a triangle choke. Ninja bats away a couple of punches with his hands. Dewees tries to pass guard, but leaves an arm in for just a fraction of a second too long, and Ninja is able to clamp his legs around it and pull. That's a tight arm bar, and Dewees is going to have really trouble getting free. He tries to pull free, but it's no use. Dewees taps out to the armlock. Official time of the armbar submission is 2:29 of the second. Jake Shields defeated War Machine ** All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Jake Shields. David Loiseau defeated Kalib Starnes ** --ROUND 2--Loiseau throws a couple of scorching jabs; neither hit, but it forces Starnes to back pedal all the way back to the cage. Loiseau follows in and throws a stinging kick to the ribs. Starnes tries to catch it, but couldn't. Starnes throws a right hand to try and catch Loiseau coming in, but it's wide of the mark. Loiseau throws a head kick, and it's a beauty, landing flush to the cheek. It was delivered with enormous power, and Starnes drops to the floor immediately, he is out cold. The referee stops Loiseau from following up, it's all over. Loiseau wins via 2nd round knock out with the official time being 2:29. Tim Sylvia retained the GAMMA Heavyweight title defeating Ben Rothwell **** --ROUND 1--Rothwell steps to the side to get a better angle, then steps in...and this time the scorching head kick that comes his way catches him unaware and lands flush to the side of the jaw! Rothwell goes completely limp as he crash-lands to the ground, that was a brutal knock out kick. Sylvia wins via first round knock out at 3:35. Hendricks improvises, changing his planned lunge into a knee strike to the side of the head! And a second! He goes to throw a third, but the referee dives in and stops the match. Imes falls backward into the cage. Those knee strikes, perfectly legal of course, really hit hard, and he is showing the effects, glassy-eyed and off-balance. The referee quickly calls the doctor in to look at Imes. The doctor can clearly be heard saying that he thinks Imes has a concussion. Official time of the TKO is 2:12 of the third round. Travis Lutter defeated Seth Petruzelli ** The judges scores are unanimous, and give a score of 29-28 to Travis Lutter. Eastman turtles up, and takes a few heavy shots to the ribs. Misaki gets his legs around Eastman and uses them to roll him over. Exposed, Eastman tries to turn so that he is on top, but Misaki has already rammed one arm around his throat and has a tight choke-hold applied. Eastman is in big trouble, and obviously can't see a way out as he taps out pretty quickly. Misaki wins via rear choke submission at 2:41 of the first round. Josh Neer defeated Ariel Sexton ** --ROUND 3--Sexton tries to scramble free, but Neer is already on top of him and has his back! Neer doesn't waste any time, he starts throwing bombs with both left and right fists, slamming them into the side of Sexton's head. He is trying to cover up, but a lot of shots are getting through. The referee is watching closely. A vicious right hand thunders into the ear of Sexton, then another to the side of the nose. That's all the referee wants to see, he pulls Neer off. Neer wins via 3rd round TKO with the official time being 2:57. Josh Koscheck defeated Richie Hightower ** --ROUND 1--Hightower gets in a nice knee, but a second attempt sees him swept to the ground. Hightower landed hard with Koscheck right on top of him, it looks like he got winded. Koscheck hits three big punches to the face, and Hightower is rocked. Koscheck gets an arm, locks in a kimura, and Hightower has no alternative but to tap out. The official time of the kimura submission is 2:29 of round 1. Antonio Silva defeated Kimbo Slice *** --ROUND 1--Silva scores with a nice elbow, and there is the full mount. Kimbo is wide open, and takes two hard punches to the face. Silva takes the arm. Kimbo is fighting it, but it looks like it's only a matter of time. The kimura is applied, and Kimbo has no choice but to tap. Silva wins via 1st round kimura submission with the official time being 3:16. Amir Sadollah defeated Benji Radach *** All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Amir Sadollah. Ortiz looks groggy, and that allows Sobral to start throwing a barrage of rights and lefts to the face. The referee has seen enough, he doesn't think Ortiz can defend himself, this match is over.
